together a solid set of songs um you together a solid set of songs um you know you spend your your all your bulk know you spend your your all your bulk know you spend your your all your bulk of your time uh finding that one song of your time uh finding that one song of your time uh finding that one song you just can't find words you just can't find words you just can't find words to and you're just scrambling to get to and you're just scrambling to get to and you're just scrambling to get things done what happens uh during the things done what happens uh during the things done what happens uh during the service you know you just can't service you know you just can't service you know you just can't anticipate what the band is going to anticipate what the band is going to anticipate what the band is going to play um you make more mistakes and uh play um you make more mistakes and uh play um you make more mistakes and uh when you're not paying attention that's when you're not paying attention that's when you're not paying attention that's another problem um you know you're on another problem um you know you're on another problem um you know you're on your cell phone or even just getting your cell phone or even just getting your cell phone or even just getting caught up in the worship song uh you're caught up in the worship song uh you're caught up in the worship song uh you're not hitting your cues you're not not hitting your cues you're not not hitting your cues you're not changing the slides in time um you're changing the slides in time um you're changing the slides in time um you're missing the Rhythm that uh that the missing the Rhythm that uh that the missing the Rhythm that uh that the worship leader is leading so definitely worship leader is leading so definitely worship leader is leading so definitely come early be prepare know the worship come early be prepare know the worship come early be prepare know the worship songs and just do your best to uh to be songs and just do your best to uh to be songs and just do your best to uh to be ready for ready for ready for anything number eight late slide changes anything number eight late slide changes anything number eight late slide changes okay slides need to be need to be up two okay slides need to be need to be up two okay slides need to be need to be up two seconds before they are seconds before they are seconds before they are sung okay here's the problem do not sung okay here's the problem do not sung okay here's the problem do not switch slides at the moment you need to switch slides at the moment you need to switch slides at the moment you need to sing that first word that first song the sing that first word that first song the sing that first word that first song the problem is that uh when you switch problem is that uh when you switch problem is that uh when you switch slides usually it's a half second a full slides usually it's a half second a full slides usually it's a half second a full second maybe uh transition time so second maybe uh transition time so second maybe uh transition time so you're already a second late um maybe it you're already a second late um maybe it you're already a second late um maybe it takes half a second or a second for the takes half a second or a second for the takes half a second or a second for the viewer to register viewer to register viewer to register um the words on the screen so here um the words on the screen so here um the words on the screen so here you're maybe uh a second to two seconds

you're maybe uh a second to two seconds you're maybe uh a second to two seconds late plus um if you're just late in late plus um if you're just late in late plus um if you're just late in general switching the slides you know general switching the slides you know general switching the slides you know you could be I've seen it where you're you could be I've seen it where you're you could be I've seen it where you're already singing the second line of uh of already singing the second line of uh of already singing the second line of uh of the next slide because it it just this the next slide because it it just this the next slide because it it just this cascading effect of uh everything cascading effect of uh everything cascading effect of uh everything everything being late everything being late everything being late so rule of thumb 2 seconds early uh this so rule of thumb 2 seconds early uh this so rule of thumb 2 seconds early uh this could even mean during a fast song when could even mean during a fast song when could even mean during a fast song when the slide changes are are coming quickly the slide changes are are coming quickly the slide changes are are coming quickly you could be singing the last word or you could be singing the last word or you could be singing the last word or even starting the last word on the last even starting the last word on the last even starting the last word on the last slide and be switching the slide already slide and be switching the slide already slide and be switching the slide already okay so when we're reading lyrics on on okay so when we're reading lyrics on on okay so when we're reading lyrics on on the screens as as a singer um you're the screens as as a singer um you're the screens as as a singer um you're you're reading ahead no one no one reads you're reading ahead no one no one reads you're reading ahead no one no one reads uh what they need to sing the moment uh what they need to sing the moment uh what they need to sing the moment they need to sing it so people already they need to sing it so people already they need to sing it so people already know what word that is they're already know what word that is they're already know what word that is they're already anticipating it you know you can change anticipating it you know you can change anticipating it you know you can change um if you need um if you need um if you need to number seven Wrong lyrics okay we've to number seven Wrong lyrics okay we've to number seven Wrong lyrics okay we've all done it we've put the wrong verse up all done it we've put the wrong verse up all done it we've put the wrong verse up we've played the course um when the we've played the course um when the we've played the course um when the bridge was supposed to be on or we just bridge was supposed to be on or we just bridge was supposed to be on or we just have the wrong song in our uh in our have the wrong song in our uh in our have the wrong song in our uh in our playlist um it's happened okay it's playlist um it's happened okay it's playlist um it's happened okay it's better to have no lyrics on the screen better to have no lyrics on the screen better to have no lyrics on the screen than the Wrong lyrics okay it's far more

than the Wrong lyrics okay it's far more than the Wrong lyrics okay it's far more distracting uh for your audience to be distracting uh for your audience to be distracting uh for your audience to be kind of puzzled and looking at the kind of puzzled and looking at the kind of puzzled and looking at the lyrics on the screen and wondering you lyrics on the screen and wondering you lyrics on the screen and wondering you know hey these are the wrong ones um is know hey these are the wrong ones um is know hey these are the wrong ones um is the worship band singing the wrong words the worship band singing the wrong words the worship band singing the wrong words or you know oh man the tech the tech or you know oh man the tech the tech or you know oh man the tech the tech must have gotten it wrong I would rather must have gotten it wrong I would rather must have gotten it wrong I would rather see nothing on the screen and then the see nothing on the screen and then the see nothing on the screen and then the audience just isn't puzzled there going audience just isn't puzzled there going audience just isn't puzzled there going oh okay you know maybe they maybe they oh okay you know maybe they maybe they oh okay you know maybe they maybe they missed something or maybe something went missed something or maybe something went missed something or maybe something went wrong and I'll just close my eyes and wrong and I'll just close my eyes and wrong and I'll just close my eyes and and worship and and just wait for the and worship and and just wait for the and worship and and just wait for the lyrics to come up rather than uh I've lyrics to come up rather than uh I've lyrics to come up rather than uh I've seen this happen where it's the wrong seen this happen where it's the wrong seen this happen where it's the wrong lyrics uh the Opera just leaves it up lyrics uh the Opera just leaves it up lyrics uh the Opera just leaves it up there until they you know hunt around or there until they you know hunt around or there until they you know hunt around or or listen to the worship leader listen or listen to the worship leader listen or listen to the worship leader listen to what they're singing try to find the to what they're singing try to find the to what they're singing try to find the right slide or the right song um and and right slide or the right song um and and right slide or the right song um and and yeah just it's not the way to go yeah just it's not the way to go yeah just it's not the way to go definitely pull down uh the lyrics keep definitely pull down uh the lyrics keep definitely pull down uh the lyrics keep up your background of course but pull up your background of course but pull up your background of course but pull down the lyrics if if they're the wrong down the lyrics if if they're the wrong down the lyrics if if they're the wrong ones number six lingering lyrics when no ones number six lingering lyrics when no ones number six lingering lyrics when no one is singing keep lyrics off the one is singing keep lyrics off the one is singing keep lyrics off the screen okay uh another common mistake screen okay uh another common mistake screen okay uh another common mistake you know definitely in songs that you know definitely in songs that you know definitely in songs that um have are very slow you know so even um have are very slow you know so even um have are very slow you know so even within a verse you know there's two within a verse you know there's two within a verse you know there's two lines and then you know a break lines and then you know a break lines and then you know a break and then they sing another two lines of and then they sing another two lines of and then they sing another two lines of the verse don't linger you know those the verse don't linger you know those the verse don't linger you know those first two lines first two lines first two lines until uh the second set of lines come

until uh the second set of lines come until uh the second set of lines come pull them off pull off those slides you pull them off pull off those slides you pull them off pull off those slides you know if no one's singing Give everyone's know if no one's singing Give everyone's know if no one's singing Give everyone's eyes AR rest and and pull things off and eyes AR rest and and pull things off and eyes AR rest and and pull things off and then be ready to you know put up the then be ready to you know put up the then be ready to you know put up the next line when you need to you know this next line when you need to you know this next line when you need to you know this is the same for you know Bridges or uh is the same for you know Bridges or uh is the same for you know Bridges or uh musical musical musical interludes you know break after chuses I interludes you know break after chuses I interludes you know break after chuses I think it just looks really professional think it just looks really professional think it just looks really professional and clean when there's a significant and clean when there's a significant and clean when there's a significant amount of of Break um between between amount of of Break um between between amount of of Break um between between lines you know if it's just a few lines you know if it's just a few lines you know if it's just a few seconds uh you know it's your call but seconds uh you know it's your call but seconds uh you know it's your call but more than a few seconds definitely bring more than a few seconds definitely bring more than a few seconds definitely bring it down this kind of goes back to being it down this kind of goes back to being it down this kind of goes back to being prepared um if you're not prepared you prepared um if you're not prepared you prepared um if you're not prepared you would you wouldn't build those braks would you wouldn't build those braks would you wouldn't build those braks into your set of slides but when you're into your set of slides but when you're into your set of slides but when you're prepared you know you're listening to prepared you know you're listening to prepared you know you're listening to the song you're realizing oh there's a the song you're realizing oh there's a the song you're realizing oh there's a break after this core so I'll put in a break after this core so I'll put in a break after this core so I'll put in a blank slide there um if you don't have blank slide there um if you don't have blank slide there um if you don't have those blanks you'll have to be you know those blanks you'll have to be you know those blanks you'll have to be you know clearing clearing slides in your clearing clearing slides in your clearing clearing slides in your presentation software to uh to make presentation software to uh to make presentation software to uh to make those uh lyrics those uh lyrics those uh lyrics disappear okay number five distracting disappear okay number five distracting disappear okay number five distracting backgrounds choose backgrounds that backgrounds choose backgrounds that backgrounds choose backgrounds that match or are slower than the tempo of match or are slower than the tempo of match or are slower than the tempo of your song okay you never want to have a your song okay you never want to have a your song okay you never want to have a background that's moving quickly background that's moving quickly background that's moving quickly and your song has a slow tempo to it and your song has a slow tempo to it and your song has a slow tempo to it really it's the other way around and I I really it's the other way around and I I really it's the other way around and I I think this actually can work out quite think this actually can work out quite think this actually can work out quite well and I've seen it done well where well and I've seen it done well where well and I've seen it done well where it's a fast song but you have a slow or

it's a fast song but you have a slow or it's a fast song but you have a slow or or even medium moving background um that or even medium moving background um that or even medium moving background um that you know let the let the band let the you know let the let the band let the you know let the let the band let the audience let the music carry or even audience let the music carry or even audience let the music carry or even moving lights if you if you have those moving lights if you if you have those moving lights if you if you have those let that carry the energy let that carry the energy let that carry the energy and don't be afraid to have the moving and don't be afraid to have the moving and don't be afraid to have the moving background kind of leg behind in Tempo I background kind of leg behind in Tempo I background kind of leg behind in Tempo I I think that looks completely fine um if I think that looks completely fine um if I think that looks completely fine um if you can match the tempo you know that you can match the tempo you know that you can match the tempo you know that works um definitely on a slow song you works um definitely on a slow song you works um definitely on a slow song you know have a slow moving background uh know have a slow moving background uh know have a slow moving background uh you know I just love subtle um I I you you know I just love subtle um I I you you know I just love subtle um I I you know I don't think you need to always know I don't think you need to always know I don't think you need to always you know beat your audience over the you know beat your audience over the you know beat your audience over the head with with everything um high energy head with with everything um high energy head with with everything um high energy you know I think subtle Works number you know I think subtle Works number you know I think subtle Works number four a delayed video Start be ready to four a delayed video Start be ready to four a delayed video Start be ready to play videos at the exact time they're play videos at the exact time they're play videos at the exact time they're needed okay I see this happen often you needed okay I see this happen often you needed okay I see this happen often you know Pastor or worship leader or um know Pastor or worship leader or um know Pastor or worship leader or um announcer is on stage and they're saying announcer is on stage and they're saying announcer is on stage and they're saying hey you know look to the screen for uh hey you know look to the screen for uh hey you know look to the screen for uh for for this video we want to show you for for this video we want to show you for for this video we want to show you you know lights dim down couple seconds you know lights dim down couple seconds you know lights dim down couple seconds go go go by and then the video starts right by and then the video starts right by and then the video starts right everyone in the audience is kind of everyone in the audience is kind of everyone in the audience is kind of waiting going you know is this going to waiting going you know is this going to waiting going you know is this going to work is this going to play um uh these work is this going to play um uh these work is this going to play um uh these videos need to play right on Q right videos need to play right on Q right videos need to play right on Q right away right when you know the person away right when you know the person away right when you know the person points to the screen and says hey check points to the screen and says hey check points to the screen and says hey check this out and you know I I don't this out and you know I I don't this out and you know I I don't necessarily know why this is always the necessarily know why this is always the necessarily know why this is always the case is is the operator unprepared is case is is the operator unprepared is case is is the operator unprepared is there a you know 3 second uh black

there a you know 3 second uh black there a you know 3 second uh black leader on the video before the video leader on the video before the video leader on the video before the video starts um is there some kind of uh starts um is there some kind of uh starts um is there some kind of uh switcher video switcher switcher video switcher switcher video switcher delay um you know is the computer not uh delay um you know is the computer not uh delay um you know is the computer not uh beefy enough to handle the the the start beefy enough to handle the the the start beefy enough to handle the the the start of of that video that there's some kind of of that video that there's some kind of of that video that there's some kind of delay or hitch I don't know that's of delay or hitch I don't know that's of delay or hitch I don't know that's something you need to work out and something you need to work out and something you need to work out and definitely if there are videos U definitely if there are videos U definitely if there are videos U practice them with uh the person on practice them with uh the person on practice them with uh the person on stage you know practice them saying hey stage you know practice them saying hey stage you know practice them saying hey check this out you press play and kind check this out you press play and kind check this out you press play and kind of go from there and and it's definitely of go from there and and it's definitely of go from there and and it's definitely you definitely want to minimize that lag you definitely want to minimize that lag you definitely want to minimize that lag time okay number three too much visual time okay number three too much visual time okay number three too much visual noise okay keep logo adds and other noise okay keep logo adds and other noise okay keep logo adds and other obtrusive visual content to a obtrusive visual content to a obtrusive visual content to a minimum so you know minimum so you know minimum so you know you're done you're done you're done singing um maybe someone's coming up for singing um maybe someone's coming up for singing um maybe someone's coming up for to give an announcement or or to pray to give an announcement or or to pray to give an announcement or or to pray and there's just kind of nothing on the and there's just kind of nothing on the and there's just kind of nothing on the screen and I think people get uh our screen and I think people get uh our screen and I think people get uh our operators get a little worried like oh operators get a little worried like oh operators get a little worried like oh you know it's just a blank screen I need you know it's just a blank screen I need you know it's just a blank screen I need to have something up there and and I to have something up there and and I to have something up there and and I would suggest you know be slow to fill would suggest you know be slow to fill would suggest you know be slow to fill that screen with a lot of visual noise that screen with a lot of visual noise that screen with a lot of visual noise so you know visual noise is you know ads so you know visual noise is you know ads so you know visual noise is you know ads and text and bright colors and bright and text and bright colors and bright and text and bright colors and bright textures and and things that really just textures and and things that really just textures and and things that really just attract your attract your attract your eye you know make something subtle um I

eye you know make something subtle um I eye you know make something subtle um I I don't like church Lo logos being up I don't like church Lo logos being up I don't like church Lo logos being up there you know names of churches I think there you know names of churches I think there you know names of churches I think it's better to emphasize your brand or it's better to emphasize your brand or it's better to emphasize your brand or values or themes that you have rather values or themes that you have rather values or themes that you have rather than telling people um where they are um than telling people um where they are um than telling people um where they are um when they should already know where they when they should already know where they when they should already know where they are you know what what church they're in are you know what what church they're in are you know what what church they're in I I think it's an opportunity to um kind I I think it's an opportunity to um kind I I think it's an opportunity to um kind of be stealthy and subtle in in ways of of be stealthy and subtle in in ways of of be stealthy and subtle in in ways of uh emphasizing your brand so maybe just uh emphasizing your brand so maybe just uh emphasizing your brand so maybe just kind of a watermarked um symbol if you kind of a watermarked um symbol if you kind of a watermarked um symbol if you have a symbol in your logo or um you have a symbol in your logo or um you have a symbol in your logo or um you know just a title of of a theme or or a know just a title of of a theme or or a know just a title of of a theme or or a verse that that's key to your community verse that that's key to your community verse that that's key to your community at that at that at that time number two using the wrong template time number two using the wrong template time number two using the wrong template okay keep all your slide Styles okay keep all your slide Styles okay keep all your slide Styles consistent by using the same slide consistent by using the same slide consistent by using the same slide template I I've seen this occur you know template I I've seen this occur you know template I I've seen this occur you know you're singing one song and then they you're singing one song and then they you're singing one song and then they move to the next song and the font size move to the next song and the font size move to the next song and the font size changed a little bit and maybe the font changed a little bit and maybe the font changed a little bit and maybe the font weight or even the font uh uh type weight or even the font uh uh type weight or even the font uh uh type changes or the position of the text box changes or the position of the text box changes or the position of the text box changes and it's usually changes and it's usually changes and it's usually because uh this the the main template or because uh this the the main template or because uh this the the main template or your default template isn't the same um your default template isn't the same um your default template isn't the same um between all of your songs and I think between all of your songs and I think between all of your songs and I think this happens uh most often when the this happens uh most often when the this happens uh most often when the worship leaders like you know last worship leaders like you know last worship leaders like you know last minute saying hey can you throw this one minute saying hey can you throw this one minute saying hey can you throw this one song in at the end or you know in in the

song in at the end or you know in in the song in at the end or you know in in the middle of my set and you put it in you middle of my set and you put it in you middle of my set and you put it in you know you download it or type it in and know you download it or type it in and know you download it or type it in and you forgot forget to apply uh your your you forgot forget to apply uh your your you forgot forget to apply uh your your template that matches all the other template that matches all the other template that matches all the other styles of all your other songs so when styles of all your other songs so when styles of all your other songs so when you when you play that one it just looks you when you play that one it just looks you when you play that one it just looks off so definitely remember to apply your off so definitely remember to apply your off so definitely remember to apply your you know your default template to all you know your default template to all you know your default template to all your songs make them all look the your songs make them all look the your songs make them all look the same okay last one feeling unimportant same okay last one feeling unimportant same okay last one feeling unimportant okay you are a leader and your job is okay you are a leader and your job is okay you are a leader and your job is vital for creating a clearly vital for creating a clearly vital for creating a clearly communicated experience okay you are communicated experience okay you are communicated experience okay you are important and a lot of oper operators important and a lot of oper operators important and a lot of oper operators don't realize the importance of their don't realize the importance of their don't realize the importance of their job they think they're just kind of job they think they're just kind of job they think they're just kind of filling in um just doing doing their filling in um just doing doing their filling in um just doing doing their Duty pressing space bar and then leaving Duty pressing space bar and then leaving Duty pressing space bar and then leaving once it's done but um you know you know once it's done but um you know you know once it's done but um you know you know you're part of the band um you're part you're part of the band um you're part you're part of the band um you're part of that experience the band is the uh of that experience the band is the uh of that experience the band is the uh what what you hear um and you are part what what you hear um and you are part what what you hear um and you are part of what you see during that worship of what you see during that worship of what you see during that worship experience so uh your job is to minimize experience so uh your job is to minimize experience so uh your job is to minimize distractions uh to help people in their distractions uh to help people in their distractions uh to help people in their worship experience you're there to worship experience you're there to worship experience you're there to communicate ideas and uh you know maybe communicate ideas and uh you know maybe communicate ideas and uh you know maybe points of the pastor or points of the pastor or points of the pastor or announcements and and that's huge you announcements and and that's huge you announcements and and that's huge you know it can really shape how someone know it can really shape how someone know it can really shape how someone experiences uh that service at your experiences uh that service at your experiences uh that service at your church and how they know about the next
