trail has been around trail has been around trail has been around for almost 20 years now okay uh the for almost 20 years now okay uh the for almost 20 years now okay uh the unique thing about preston trail is the unique thing about preston trail is the unique thing about preston trail is the fact that it was started fact that it was started fact that it was started by two pastors together who are really by two pastors together who are really by two pastors together who are really good friends who good friends who good friends who whose history went all the way back to whose history went all the way back to whose history went all the way back to bible college and they wanted to bible college and they wanted to bible college and they wanted to start a church that was a church they start a church that was a church they start a church that was a church they could be proud of that connects with could be proud of that connects with could be proud of that connects with people people people and really helps helps young families and really helps helps young families and really helps helps young families and they moved into north texas when it and they moved into north texas when it and they moved into north texas when it was was was just at the ground level of growing and just at the ground level of growing and just at the ground level of growing and so we actually have us have a unique so we actually have us have a unique so we actually have us have a unique model model model we have two humble fully committed we have two humble fully committed we have two humble fully committed co-senior pastors who alternate co-senior pastors who alternate co-senior pastors who alternate messages and make decisions together and messages and make decisions together and messages and make decisions together and so one of the unique things about press so one of the unique things about press so one of the unique things about press central culture is there's kind of an central culture is there's kind of an central culture is there's kind of an authenticity and a humility and a authenticity and a humility and a authenticity and a humility and a camaraderie here camaraderie here camaraderie here that kind of just permeates through the that kind of just permeates through the that kind of just permeates through the whole culture and it's kind of exciting whole culture and it's kind of exciting whole culture and it's kind of exciting to be part of to be part of to be part of um the people that come here really like um the people that come here really like um the people that come here really like being here and it affects being here and it affects being here and it affects it affects the way we communicate and it affects the way we communicate and it affects the way we communicate and interact and you know it's a place where interact and you know it's a place where interact and you know it's a place where everybody can come in whether they feel everybody can come in whether they feel everybody can come in whether they feel like they're perfect or imperfect or like they're perfect or imperfect or like they're perfect or imperfect or they've been churched or unchurched or they've been churched or unchurched or they've been churched or unchurched or de-churched and it's kind of a fun place de-churched and it's kind of a fun place de-churched and it's kind of a fun place to be to be to be it really is and even in the midst of it really is and even in the midst of it really is and even in the midst of the pandemic i i think i think we've the pandemic i i think i think we've the pandemic i i think i think we've we've felt that a lot of people have we've felt that a lot of people have we've felt that a lot of people have still responded to that still there's there's different layers to the story there's different layers to the story there's different layers to the story right and so um right and so um right and so um for my side of the fence i i i've been kind of kind of feeling some i've been kind of kind of feeling some stirrings stirrings stirrings uh my youngest my youngest son was about uh my youngest my youngest son was about uh my youngest my youngest son was about to start his senior year to start his senior year to start his senior year and i kind of felt for a number of years and i kind of felt for a number of years and i kind of felt for a number of years like you know what i've been doing like you know what i've been doing like you know what i've been doing student history for a long time student history for a long time student history for a long time and i kind of feel like probably around and i kind of feel like probably around and i kind of feel like probably around the time that my son's out i kind of the time that my son's out i kind of the time that my son's out i kind of feel like it's probably my feel like it's probably my feel like it's probably my time to step out of student ministry time to step out of student ministry time to step out of student ministry it's not that i don't love students it's not that i don't love students it's not that i don't love students but you know there's a lot of good young but you know there's a lot of good young but you know there's a lot of good young dudes and ladies that are coming up and dudes and ladies that are coming up and dudes and ladies that are coming up and coming into ministry coming into ministry coming into ministry and i kind of felt like my timing was and i kind of felt like my timing was and i kind of felt like my timing was coming but it wasn't was kind of unsure coming but it wasn't was kind of unsure coming but it wasn't was kind of unsure what that would be or whether or not it what that would be or whether or not it what that would be or whether or not it would be here so that's going on in me would be here so that's going on in me would be here so that's going on in me and my heart and my heart and my heart at this time over the course of the last at this time over the course of the last at this time over the course of the last six months to a year and then in the six months to a year and then in the six months done we've got done we've got done and experimented with what that looks and experimented with what that looks and experimented with what that looks like and put things up on a podcast like and put things up on a podcast like and put things up on a podcast and different things like that but of and different things like that but of and different things like that but of course the pandemic has kind of course the pandemic has kind of course the pandemic has kind of accentuated accentuated accentuated a lot of things you know i mean i think a lot of things you know i mean i think a lot of the cracks become more come wider that the cracks become more come wider and bigger and bigger and bigger when something when something big comes when something when something big comes when something when something big comes right and so that's what happened with right and so that's what happened with right and so that's what happened with us you know we we've kind of we've known us you know we we've kind of we've known us you know we we've kind of we've known with being a multi-side church with being a multi-side church with being a multi-side church especially that we needed to expand the especially that we needed to expand the especially that we needed to expand the way we did things way we did things way we did things but but it was kind of we kind of but but it was kind of we kind of but but it was kind of we kind of clicked boxes with clicked boxes with clicked boxes with well this seems to fit helping people well this seems to fit helping people well this seems to fit helping people through the computer through the computer through the computer if they're traveling or they're finding if they're traveling or they're finding if they're traveling or they're finding us but it wasn't an intentional strategy us but it wasn't an intentional strategy us but it wasn't an intentional strategy then when the pandemic came we kind of then when the pandemic came we kind of then when the pandemic came we kind of kind of went kind of went kind of went all right now we need to have an all right now we need to have an all right now we need to have an intentional strategy and strategic care intentional strategy and strategic care intentional strategy and strategic care for what that is and um and our for what that is and um and our for what that is and um and our leadership you know they did they

they other people they other people they luckily for me because i'm not super luckily for me because i'm not super luckily for me because i'm not super techy they wanted to find somebody who techy they wanted to find somebody who techy they wanted to find somebody who just really loved people and was just really loved people and was just really loved people and was comfortable in front of a camera and comfortable in front of a camera and comfortable in front of a camera and was comfortable with just connecting was comfortable with just connecting was comfortable with just connecting people and trying to people and trying to people and trying to engage people whether it's through a engage people whether it's through a engage people whether it's through a screen or a person and screen or a person and screen or a person and we just both felt like this was of the we just both felt like this was of the we just both felt like this was of the lord and here i am lord and here i am that strategy sharing that so what does that strategy look like look like look like yeah yeah well we're still if i'm real yeah yeah well we're still if i'm real yeah yeah well we're still if i'm real we're still kind of figuring that out we're still kind of figuring that out we're still kind of figuring that out you know that's that's the that's that's you know that's that's the that's that's you know that's that's the that's that's the short answer the short answer the short answer um but if i were to kind of sum it up um but if i were to kind of sum it up um but if i were to kind of sum it up into a couple of statements it's that into a couple of statements it's that into a couple of statements it's that we really genuinely care about helping we really genuinely care about helping we really genuinely care about helping people grow people grow people grow as followers of jesus you know we want as followers of jesus you know we want as followers of jesus you know we want to help people find jesus first and then to help people find jesus first and then to help people find jesus first and then follow them for themselves follow them for themselves follow them for themselves whether it's through a screen or in whether it's through a screen or in whether it's through a screen or in person i mean then so person i mean then so person i mean then so there are some people that are saying there are some people that are saying there are some people that are saying well you know when things go back to well you know when things go back to well you know when things go back to normal are you going to go back to this normal are you going to go back to this normal are you going to go back to this or back to that i was like well or back to that i was like well or back to that i was like well no i think we're kind of taken from the no i think we're kind of taken from the no i think we're kind of taken from the kreger shell model which is we're kreger shell model which is feel like as people are because we feel like as people are becoming more becoming more becoming more um i don't know just church culture is um i don't know just church culture is um i don't know just church culture is changing people are coming in person changing people are coming in person changing people are coming in person less often less often less often people are are are curious and are people are are are curious and are people are are are curious and are exploring a website or an online service exploring a website or an online service exploring a website or an online service before they're ever darkening a door before they're ever darkening a door before they're ever darkening a door and i think that's true now more than and i think that's true now more than and i think that's true now more than ever and so we're trying to figure out ever and so we're trying to figure out ever and so we're trying to figure out what does that now look like and so what does that now look like and so what does that now look like and so we're going to have we're going to have we're going to have our strategy is going to be we're still our strategy is going to be we're still our strategy is going to be we're still building our outward-facing model but we building our outward-facing model but we building our outward-facing model but we want to have things that are want to have things that are want to have things that are out into the community that are out into the community that are out into the community that are answering questions people have answering questions people have answering questions people have our our meeting felt needs and are our our meeting felt needs and are our our meeting felt needs and are scratching itches that people have that

scratching itches that people have that scratching itches that people have that might not be ones that we think with might not be ones that we think with might not be ones that we think with just slapping a sermon series at it is just slapping a sermon series at it is just slapping a sermon series at it is gonna do gonna do gonna do and so getting shorter getting more and so getting shorter getting more and so getting shorter getting more concise getting easier to use on concise getting easier to use on concise getting easier to use on different platforms different platforms different platforms and then of course making our online and then of course making our online and then of course making our online platforms um platforms um platforms um more entitled easier to use easier to more entitled easier to use easier to more entitled easier to use easier to find and more engaging find and more engaging find and more engaging and that and and that's that's where and that and and that's that's where and that and and that's that's where i've been kind of incubating my team and i've been kind of incubating my team and i've been kind of incubating my team and spending a lot of my focus right now is spending a lot of my focus right now is spending a lot of my focus right now is getting used to getting used to getting used to uh our online platform and then doing uh our online platform and then doing uh our online platform and then doing good follow-up with people good follow-up with people good follow-up with people that come and join us and then even that come and join us and then even that come and join us and then even engaging while they're with us engaging while they're with us engaging while they're with us so so would so would your audience then so so would so would your audience then so so would so would your audience then would you say your audience is probably would you say your audience is probably would you say your audience is probably uh maybe twofold it's obviously people uh maybe twofold it's obviously people uh maybe twofold it's obviously people who who who go to preston trail like yep i got a go to preston trail like yep i got a go to preston trail like yep i got a question you know it's they don't question you know it's they don't question you know it's they don't sure you know they just want to connect sure you know they just want to connect sure you know they just want to connect with somebody you're the man online with somebody you're the man online with somebody you're the man online right right right yeah so there's a discipline that yeah so there's a discipline that yeah so there's a discipline that happens in that space and all kinds of happens in that space and all kinds of happens in that space and all kinds of stuff stuff stuff well then there's yeah so that's just the place where there's so that's just the place where there's like steps that are involved right so like steps that are involved right so like steps that are involved right so they're they're they're contacting us they're they're they're contacting us they're they're they're contacting us for a service or they're for a service or they're for a service or they're they've come in and joined us for part they've come in and joined us for part they've come in and joined us for part of the service and have been able to of the service and have been able to of the service and have been able to gain some kind of rapport they've gain some kind of rapport they've gain some kind of rapport they've learned my name learned my name learned my name so i get an email i get an email from so i get an email i get an email from so i get an email i get an email from him or i build some kind of a report him or i build some kind of a report him or i build some kind of a report that way that way that way and so it becomes in steps you know and and so it becomes in steps you know and and so it becomes in steps you know and honestly you know i was talking with our honestly you know i was talking with our honestly you know i was talking with our with our group's pastor and he helped me with our group's pastor and he helped me with our group's pastor and he helped me with better language he said that when with better language he said that when with better language he said that when it comes to online ministry maybe we it comes to online ministry maybe we it comes to online ministry maybe we need to be thinking in half steps need to be thinking in half steps need to be thinking in half steps because these are people that are maybe because these are people that are maybe because these are people that are maybe even further away and we need to be even further away and we need to be even further away and we need to be thinking about half steps because they thinking about half steps because they thinking about half steps because they haven't even haven't even haven't even even decided to be a person yet and so even decided figure out and and we're in the process of developing

been attending know i've been i've been attending online now for a few months online now for a few months online now for a few months i want to grow in my relationship with i want to grow in my relationship with i want to grow in my relationship with jesus what do i do i'm like jesus what do i do i'm like jesus what do i do i'm like great question that's awesome great question that's awesome great question that's awesome i got an answer yeah and so that so so i got an answer yeah and so that so so i got an answer yeah and so that so so we're starting them on that pathway of we're starting them on that pathway of we're starting them on that pathway of what that looks like and it's going to what that looks like and it's going to what that looks like and it's going to be be be ideally we would like to see people be ideally we would like to see people be ideally we would like to see people be able to meet in pers in person able to meet in pers in person able to meet in pers in person um whether whether it's where it's where um whether whether it's where it's where um whether whether it's where it's where they're living if we can figure out a they're living if we can figure out a they're living if we can figure out a way to kind of cluster people together way to kind of cluster people together way to kind of cluster people together whether it's that they live 50 miles whether it's that they live 50 miles whether it's that they live 50 miles away or 500 miles away we want to try to away or 500 miles away we want to try to away or 500 miles away we want to try to figure that out figure that out figure that out down the road but for right now honestly down the road but for right now honestly down the road but for right now honestly jason we're just trying to figure out figuring out these and then and then figuring out these other different platforms that we have other different platforms that we have other different platforms that we have that we're developing at past the driving distance and you know past the driving distance and it sounds like you're it sounds like you're it sounds like you're you're still trying to build the model you're still trying to build the model you're still trying to build the model like we want to just we want to answer like we want to just we want to answer like we want to just we want to answer their questions reach them connect with their questions reach them connect with their questions reach them connect with them them them build relationship disciple them but you build relationship disciple them but you build relationship disciple them but you know know know it's physically impossible for them to it's physically impossible for them to it's physically impossible for them to get to right get to right get to right activities on on campus yeah and as and activities on on campus yeah and as and activities on on campus yeah and as and and i've been trying to learn from and i've been trying to learn from and i've been trying to learn from different people that's one of the different people that's one of the different people that's one of the things that jay crandall told me at things that jay crandall told me at things that jay crandall told me at saddleback is he said you know saddleback is he said you know saddleback is he said you know focus focus on the proximity around focus focus on the proximity around focus focus on the proximity around where you are and do that really well where you are and do that really well where you are and do that really well and then look to expand your circles man and then look to expand your circles man and then look to expand your circles man i just got such wisdom i just got such wisdom i just got such wisdom and um and he's been doing it well he's and um and he's been doing it well he's and um and he's been doing it well he's been doing it for a lot longer than me

been doing it for a lot longer than me been doing it for a lot longer than me so so i'm gonna listen to him but i mean so so i'm gonna listen to him but i mean so so i'm gonna listen to him but i mean we have individuals that'll pipe in from we have individuals that'll pipe in from we have individuals that'll pipe in from all over the place but all over the place but all over the place but eventually we want to get to the point eventually we want to get to the point eventually we want to get to the point where we can look at the analytics and where we can look at the analytics and where we can look at the analytics and see what the saturation points are see what the saturation points are see what the saturation points are and see how we can get people together and see how we can get people together and see how we can get people together and how we can do that and how we can do that and how we can do that and and we don't know whether i mean and and we don't know whether i mean and and we don't know whether i mean does that become a microchurch model does that become a microchurch model does that become a microchurch model does that become the new way that we does that become the new way that we does that become the new way that we launch new campuses i mean our brains launch new campuses i mean our brains launch new campuses i mean our brains are going crazy with all this because are going crazy with all this because are going crazy with all this because it's so new and so fresh to us it's so new and so fresh to us it's so new and so fresh to us right yeah but that is such solid advice right yeah but that is such solid advice right yeah but that is such solid advice to say you know start with what you can to say you know start with what you can to say you know start with what you can control around your area control around your area control around your area yeah get that down and then start yeah get that down and then start yeah get that down and then start growing beyond that that's really good growing beyond that that's really good growing beyond that that's really good advice advice advice so um sounds like so um sounds like so um sounds like so sounds like some of the challenges so sounds like some of the challenges so sounds like some of the challenges for you are just kind of for you are just kind of for you are just kind of first of all just you're just absorbing first of all just you're just absorbing first of all just you're just absorbing and learning and and learning and and learning and drinking through fire hose but you're drinking through fire hose but you're drinking through fire hose but you're you know have you had any you know have you had any you know have you had any uh like some early wins from uh like some early wins from uh like some early wins from your few months of being in this space your few months of being in this space your few months of being in this space definitely definitely definitely um you know there's there's one example um you know there's there's one example um you know there's there's one example that immediately comes to mind that immediately comes to mind that immediately comes to mind that i that i think is is a stronger that i that i think is is a stronger that i that i think is is a stronger advantage in online ministry than i had advantage in online ministry than i had advantage in online ministry than i had anticipated anticipated anticipated it's a right at the end of a service you it's a right at the end of a service you it's a right at the end of a service you know and we um know and we um know and we um we're so thankful for life church giving we're so thankful for life church giving we're so thankful for life church giving us the church online platform that's us the church online platform that's us the church online platform that's been amazingly helpful been amazingly helpful been amazingly helpful but there's a way that we can solicit but there's a way that we can solicit but there's a way that we can solicit responses to people one of those was responses to people one of those was responses to people one of those was asking if people want prayer and so asking if people want prayer and so asking if people want prayer and so literally literally literally right as the service is ending i get one right as the service is ending i get one right as the service is ending i get one from from a dude from from a dude from from a dude who basically just tells me my marriage

into the community that that face out into the community that are being felt needs are being felt needs are being felt needs some stuff that just literally is matter some stuff that just literally is matter some stuff that just literally is matter of fact about how do you cook a great of fact about how do you cook a great of fact about how do you cook a great meal meal meal in under two hours for a busy family you in under two hours for a busy family you in under two hours for a busy family you know and how do you coach your kid to know and how do you coach your kid to know and how do you coach your kid to keep their head in the game when they're keep their head in the game when they're keep their head in the game when they're losing their mind losing their mind losing their mind you know you know different things like you know you know different things like you know you know different things like that what can we do to help with some of that what can we do to help with some of
