after that but still i just i was after that but still i just i was there's a reason they're small churches there's a reason they're small churches there's a reason they're small churches yeah there's a reason that 80 yeah there's a reason that 80 yeah there's a reason that 80 of churches in america are a hundred of churches in america are a hundred of churches in america are a hundred people or less people or less people or less and i don't think it's a bad reason so and i don't think it's a bad reason so and i don't think it's a bad reason so anyway i said to johnny listen let's do anyway i said to johnny listen let's do anyway i said to johnny listen let's do it for small church pastors it for small church pastors it for small church pastors and we looked online i mean we just did and we looked online i mean we just did and we looked online i mean we just did a google search a google search a google search not just podcasts but any resources not just podcasts but any resources not just podcasts but any resources and there there were very few resources and there there were very few resources and there there were very few resources for a small for a small for a small church ministry i mean small church church ministry i mean small church church ministry i mean small church ministry was kind of you know ministry was kind of you know ministry was kind of you know that was taboo everybody wants to grow that was taboo everybody wants to grow that was taboo everybody wants to grow everybody wants a big church and most of everybody wants a big church and most of everybody wants a big church and most of the resources the resources the resources were there for growing your church and were there for growing your church and were there for growing your church and we just decided we just decided we just decided we are not going to talk about church we are not going to talk about church we are not going to talk about church growth we're going to talk about church growth we're going to talk about church growth we're going to talk about church health health health so one of the things that i did is i so one of the things that i did is i so one of the things that i did is i said to johnny said to johnny said to johnny okay i've been in the church now for okay i've been in the church now for okay i've been in the church now for eight years eight years eight years and this is what we've done out of our and this is what we've done out of our and this is what we've done out of our church church church of 175 to 200 people of 175 to 200 people of 175 to 200 people over the last eight years and we had we over the last eight years and we had we over the last eight years and we had we had literally dumped had literally dumped had literally dumped over was it a million or two million i'm over was it a million or two million i'm over was it a million or two million i'm not gonna do the math not gonna do the math not gonna do the math now but it was either a million or two now but it was either a million or two now but it was either a million or two million dollars million dollars million dollars into missions in those in those uh eight into missions in those in those uh eight into missions in those in those uh eight years years years and i started thinking back through the and i started thinking back through the and i started thinking back through the families that we had ministered to families that we had ministered to families that we had ministered to over those eight years you know the the over those eight years you know the the over those eight years you know the the funerals that we had funerals that we had funerals that we had sat with people through and helped sat with people through and helped sat with people through and helped people through the hospital visits people through the hospital visits people through the hospital visits the kids ministry that we did you know

to record and then do all the editing to record and then do all the editing uh you know produce the episode and then uh you know produce the episode and then uh you know produce the episode and then upload it to where it needed to be upload it to where it needed to be upload it to where it needed to be uploaded to uploaded to uploaded to and then get it promoted out on whatever and then get it promoted out on whatever and then get it promoted out on whatever social media stuff social media stuff social media stuff you know i could start at say seven or you know i could start at say seven or you know i could start at say seven or eight o'clock at night eight o'clock at night eight o'clock at night and kind of take my time and take a and kind of take my time and take a and kind of take my time and take a break if i needed to or whatever and i break if i needed to or whatever and i break if i needed to or whatever and i i might not be done until two in the i might not be done until two in the i might not be done until two in the morning uh and that was a morning uh and that was a morning uh and that was a that was kind of a weekly commitment that was kind of a weekly commitment that was kind of a weekly commitment that i made that i made that i made uh but you know you do you have to edit uh but you know you do you have to edit uh but you know you do you have to edit it and it and it and and the the better you edit it the and the the better you edit it the and the the better you edit it the better product better product better product you you put out and there are a lot of you you put out and there are a lot of you you put out and there are a lot of podcasts right now podcasts right now podcasts right now that are just doing they just press that are just doing they just press that are just doing they just press record and you just hear all the record and you just hear all the record and you just hear all the um you know uh um you know uh um you know uh you hear all of those and that's just a you hear all of those and that's just a you hear all of those and that's just a philosophy philosophy philosophy people say well they like to hear the people say well they like to hear the people say well they like to hear the conversation and those are in conversation and those are in conversation and those are in everybody's conversation everybody's conversation everybody's conversation and that that's fine um i didn't do that and that that's fine um i didn't do that and that that's fine um i didn't do that because i had guests to with varying because i had guests to with varying because i had guests to with varying degrees of on-air degrees of on-air degrees of on-air talent and so there were some people talent and so there were some people talent and so there were some people that were that were that were pretty big names and really good but pretty big names and really good but pretty big names and really good but they had a they had a they had a ton of verbal clutter and i had to sweep ton of verbal clutter and i had to sweep ton of verbal clutter and i had to sweep all that out of the way all that out of the way all that out of the way and when you swept it out of the way you and when you swept it out of the way you and when you swept it out of the way you had a much more had a much more had a much more engaging listenable uh conversation engaging listenable uh conversation engaging listenable uh conversation afterwards so i spent probably too much afterwards so i spent probably too much afterwards so i spent probably too much time time time editing i spend not as much time now but editing i spend not as much time now but editing i spend not as much time now but i still will go in i still will go in i still will go in because i want my guests to sound good i because i want my guests to sound good i because i want my guests to sound good i don't want people to hear

uh but i've managed to help other people uh but i've managed to help other people lose 80 pounds lose 80 pounds lose 80 pounds who have kept it off and i have put who have kept it off and i have put who have kept it off and i have put almost almost almost all of it back on and it you know all of it back on and it you know all of it back on and it you know you put the first part of it on uh kind you put the first part of it on uh kind you put the first part of it on uh kind of unknowingly you of unknowingly you of unknowingly you really don't know what's going on you're really don't know what's going on you're really don't know what's going on you're just caught up in the culture the food just caught up in the culture the food just caught up in the culture the food culture we live in culture we live in culture we live in but then when you do it the second time but then when you do it the second time but then when you do it the second time in broad daylight you kind of know what in broad daylight you kind of know what in broad daylight you kind of know what you're doing and it's still you're doing and it's still you're doing and it's still you know you're still not able to help you know you're still not able to help you know you're still not able to help yourself so i'm still working with some yourself so i'm still working with some yourself so i'm still working with some people people people and yet when you're not doing it and yet when you're not doing it and yet when you're not doing it yourself it's really hard yourself it's really hard yourself it's really hard to try to encourage or tell somebody to try to encourage or tell somebody to try to encourage or tell somebody else you know what to do else you know what to do else you know what to do however um the plan that i was working however um the plan that i was working however um the plan that i was working on on on it was very effective very helpful uh it it was very effective very helpful uh it it was very effective very helpful uh it still would be still would be still would be um but it's you know it's food if um but it's you know it's food if um but it's you know it's food if anybody anybody anybody struggles with food or food addiction struggles with food or food addiction struggles with food or food addiction they would understand you know you're they would understand you know you're they would understand you know you're only a food addict if you eat only a food addict if you eat only a food addict if you eat addictive foods that's the truth i addictive foods that's the truth i addictive foods that's the truth i suppose you're only a drug addict if you suppose you're only a drug addict if you suppose you're only a drug addict if you take take take addictive drugs right so if you can get addictive drugs right so if you can get addictive drugs right so if you can get off of those addicted foods but the off of those addicted foods but the off of those addicted foods but the problem is in our society problem is in our society problem is in our society they are everywhere there's a dealer they are everywhere there's a dealer they are everywhere there's a dealer about on every corner you don't even about on every corner you don't even about on every corner you don't even have to get out of your car have to get out of your car have to get out of your car you just drive through and you just pop you just drive through and you just pop you just drive through and you just pop your phone on the little thing and they your phone on the little thing and they your phone on the little thing and they give you out your give you out your give you out your what i call your dime bag you know you what i call your dime bag you know you what i call your dime bag you know you could drive away and could drive away and could drive away and i mean it literally it literally really i mean it literally it literally really i mean it literally it literally really is that and so is that and so is that and so i'm kind of making light of it but my i'm kind of making light of it but my i'm kind of making light of it but my heart really goes out to people heart really goes out to people heart really goes out to people who who struggle and
