started working retail graduated uh started working retail graduated uh didn't actually get into design right didn't actually get into design right didn't actually get into design right away and just actually was it was in away and just actually was it was in away and just actually was it was in retail management for a bunch of years retail management for a bunch of years retail management for a bunch of years okay um that was out in Minneapolis okay um that was out in Minneapolis okay um that was out in Minneapolis relocated back to the east coast to be relocated back to the east coast to be relocated back to the east coast to be closer to family uh and then actually closer to family uh and then actually closer to family uh and then actually started attending LCBC and so my husband started attending LCBC and so my husband started attending LCBC and so my husband and I got super involved um in our and I got super involved um in our and I got super involved um in our student Ministry and just loved what the student Ministry and just loved what the student Ministry and just loved what the church was doing loved the mission church was doing loved the mission church was doing loved the mission statement and so kind of through a bunch statement and so kind of through a bunch statement and so kind of through a bunch of uh just relationships and of uh just relationships and of uh just relationships and conversations started freelancing that conversations started freelancing that conversations started freelancing that turned into joining the team as a turned into joining the team as a turned into joining the team as a designer um and so yeah now a couple designer um and so yeah now a couple designer um and so yeah now a couple years later I have the opportunity to years later I have the opportunity to years later I have the opportunity to lead as the communications director okay lead as the communications director okay lead as the communications director okay so interesting yeah path so interesting yeah path so interesting yeah path totally what uh what made you want to totally what uh what made you want to totally what uh what made you want to jump into the into the role as the jump into the into the role as the jump into the into the role as the Director yeah so it's funny because I Director yeah so it's funny because I Director yeah so it's funny because I just love what I get to do I loved being just love what I get to do I loved being just love what I get to do I loved being on the communications team I love on the communications team I love on the communications team I love serving our ministry areas and so in our serving our ministry areas and so in our serving our ministry areas and so in our context our team Works to serve all context our team Works to serve all context our team Works to serve all locations and Central Ministry teams um locations and Central Ministry teams um locations and Central Ministry teams um and so our team is really a team of and so our team is really a team of and so our team is really a team of teams so disciplines would include teams so disciplines would include teams so disciplines would include graphic design video project management graphic design video project management graphic design video project management and marketing um and I mean truthfully and marketing um and I mean truthfully and marketing um and I mean truthfully just love working with the team we have just love working with the team we have just love working with the team we have incredible just gifts and talents and so incredible just gifts and talents and so incredible just gifts and talents and so fun to actually have that like retail fun to actually have that like retail fun to actually have that like retail leadership creativity all kind of leadership creativity all kind of leadership creativity all kind of combined um and just as our organization combined um and just as our organization combined um and just as our organization is sizing and scaling um yeah just was is sizing and scaling um yeah just was is sizing and scaling um yeah just was like okay yeah I think I can do this I

like okay yeah I think I can do this I like okay yeah I think I can do this I think I can take on this Challenge and think I can take on this Challenge and think I can take on this Challenge and so yeah love being a part of the team so yeah love being a part of the team so yeah love being a part of the team love doing what I get to do yeah that's love doing what I get to do yeah that's love doing what I get to do yeah that's a that's a big challenge 22 a that's a big challenge 22 a that's a big challenge 22 campuses uh so H H how do you campuses uh so H H how do you campuses uh so H H how do you balance that idea of trying to keep balance that idea of trying to keep balance that idea of trying to keep because that that's overwhelming if all because that that's overwhelming if all because that that's overwhelming if all of them were running wild that would of them were running wild that would of them were running wild that would just possible I'd be like 22 different just possible I'd be like 22 different just possible I'd be like 22 different clients that would be crazy sure so how clients that would be crazy sure so how clients that would be crazy sure so how do you balance organizing that with do you balance organizing that with do you balance organizing that with being able to be creative for each being able to be creative for each being able to be creative for each campus or how does that how does that campus or how does that how does that campus or how does that how does that roll out yeah totally so I would say a roll out yeah totally so I would say a roll out yeah totally so I would say a couple years ago we actually read the couple years ago we actually read the couple years ago we actually read the book predictable success as an book predictable success as an book predictable success as an organization and so really started organization and so really started organization and so really started asking ourselves the hard questions asking ourselves the hard questions asking ourselves the hard questions around hey is church scalable what does around hey is church scalable what does around hey is church scalable what does that mean for us what does that mean for that mean for us what does that mean for that mean for us what does that mean for our context and how we want to keep um our context and how we want to keep um our context and how we want to keep um growing to introduce people to Jesus growing to introduce people to Jesus growing to introduce people to Jesus together fully follow him right and so I together fully follow him right and so I together fully follow him right and so I think through that process a lot of think through that process a lot of think through that process a lot of refining around systems processes um refining around systems processes um refining around systems processes um what were our diff differentiators what what were our diff differentiators what what were our diff differentiators what was important to us um and then really was important to us um and then really was important to us um and then really trying to hone in on like good versus trying to hone in on like good versus trying to hone in on like good versus best and so I think where we are today best and so I think where we are today best and so I think where we are today um we did a lot of work to work through um we did a lot of work to work through um we did a lot of work to work through what the book describes as what the book describes as what the book describes as Whitewater um and just realized like hey Whitewater um and just realized like hey Whitewater um and just realized like hey some of these things are not efficient some of these things are not efficient some of these things are not efficient that they can be more efficient and that they can be more efficient and that they can be more efficient and sometimes we also just need to work sometimes we also just need to work sometimes we also just need to work through like kind of what's good versus through like kind of what's good versus through like kind of what's good versus best and create systems and processes to best and create systems and processes to best and create systems and processes to to support that and so in our context we to support that and so in our context we to support that and so in our context we kind of work through a model where um kind of work through a model where um kind of work through a model where um campuses and Central work together and

campuses and Central work together and campuses and Central work together and so from a central perspective it's our so from a central perspective it's our so from a central perspective it's our job to provide processes um products and job to provide processes um products and job to provide processes um products and training to help our campus teams lead training to help our campus teams lead training to help our campus teams lead their teams lead their people and their teams lead their people and their teams lead their people and execute kind of that core differentiator execute kind of that core differentiator execute kind of that core differentiator with Excellence um and so yes 22 uh with Excellence um and so yes 22 uh with Excellence um and so yes 22 uh campuses kind of doing their thing and campuses kind of doing their thing and campuses kind of doing their thing and their context but all kind of their context but all kind of their context but all kind of foundationally built under the same foundationally built under the same foundationally built under the same processes um products and training and processes um products and training and processes um products and training and then how do we just help Nuance when then how do we just help Nuance when then how do we just help Nuance when Nuance needs to happen so so yeah yeah Nuance needs to happen so so yeah yeah Nuance needs to happen so so yeah yeah so talk a little bit of them about your so talk a little bit of them about your so talk a little bit of them about your about the mission because you you've about the mission because you you've about the mission because you you've talked a little bit about that here and talked a little bit about that here and talked a little bit about that here and and uh you know how how do you then and uh you know how how do you then and uh you know how how do you then because everything has to be aligned because everything has to be aligned because everything has to be aligned around the mission if it doesn't for the around the mission if it doesn't for the around the mission if it doesn't for the mission we don't we don't do it kind of mission we don't we don't do it kind of mission we don't we don't do it kind of a thing totally and so what's kind of a thing totally and so what's kind of a thing totally and so what's kind of cool about that is all the all 22 cool about that is all the all 22 cool about that is all the all 22 campuses are underlined One mission so campuses are underlined One mission so campuses are underlined One mission so how does Communications see that take how does Communications see that take how does Communications see that take that mission and how do they Implement that mission and how do they Implement that mission and how do they Implement that into what you do yeah so our that into what you do yeah so our that into what you do yeah so our mission as a church is to introduce mission as a church is to introduce mission as a church is to introduce people to Jesus together fully follow people to Jesus together fully follow people to Jesus together fully follow him from a communication stpoint we him from a communication stpoint we him from a communication stpoint we really believe then in partnering with really believe then in partnering with really believe then in partnering with that mission through problem solving that mission through problem solving that mission through problem solving that leads to inspiring and informing that leads to inspiring and informing that leads to inspiring and informing and so how can we create uh solutions to and so how can we create uh solutions to and so how can we create uh solutions to problems that our ministry teams have problems that our ministry teams have problems that our ministry teams have that really can Inspire and form our that really can Inspire and form our that really can Inspire and form our attendees um those that we currently attendees um those that we currently attendees um those that we currently have and those that we haven't met yet have and those that we haven't met yet have and those that we haven't met yet um towards that mission statement um and um towards that mission statement um and um towards that mission statement um and just how they engage at our church how just how they engage at our church how just how they engage at our church how they see themselves at our church uh to they see themselves at our church uh to they see themselves at our church uh to make sure that from the minute we meet make sure that from the minute we meet make sure that from the minute we meet them whether digitally or physically um

them whether digitally or physically um them whether digitally or physically um to the moment they join us on a weekend to the moment they join us on a weekend to the moment they join us on a weekend and everything in between that it feels and everything in between that it feels and everything in between that it feels just like a very consistent um welcoming just like a very consistent um welcoming just like a very consistent um welcoming all the things that kind of emulate who all the things that kind of emulate who all the things that kind of emulate who we are uh kind of from start to finish we are uh kind of from start to finish we are uh kind of from start to finish wow that's that's a tall wow that's that's a tall wow that's that's a tall order but it's really order but it's really order but it's really fun it's well you know you live inside fun it's well you know you live inside fun it's well you know you live inside systems yeah right so you otherwise it systems yeah right so you otherwise it systems yeah right so you otherwise it would be really really probably would be really really probably would be really really probably stressful but what are some of those um stressful but what are some of those um stressful but what are some of those um talk a little bit about the joys that talk a little bit about the joys that talk a little bit about the joys that you see from your job and then I'll you see from your job and then I'll you see from your job and then I'll switch to talk about like what are the switch to talk about like what are the switch to talk about like what are the things you know you want to work on yeah things you know you want to work on yeah things you know you want to work on yeah so I would say what's cool and actually so I would say what's cool and actually so I would say what's cool and actually even a little systemy if you will is we even a little systemy if you will is we even a little systemy if you will is we just realized a couple years ago we just just realized a couple years ago we just just realized a couple years ago we just had to hone in on our creative process had to hone in on our creative process had to hone in on our creative process and so what's cool is seeing a ton of and so what's cool is seeing a ton of and so what's cool is seeing a ton of fruit then from some of that really hard fruit then from some of that really hard fruit then from some of that really hard work to figure out what are systems and work to figure out what are systems and work to figure out what are systems and structures that can hold what we need to structures that can hold what we need to structures that can hold what we need to do but also remain flexible and Nimble do but also remain flexible and Nimble do but also remain flexible and Nimble to Ministry um it would be really easy to Ministry um it would be really easy to Ministry um it would be really easy to say oh just systematize everything to say oh just systematize everything to say oh just systematize everything but that's when people quickly are like but that's when people quickly are like but that's when people quickly are like well how much time do you need to get a well how much time do you need to get a well how much time do you need to get a project done and it's like well that's project done and it's like well that's project done and it's like well that's not the posture right and so it's fun to not the posture right and so it's fun to not the posture right and so it's fun to see now a lot of the work that we have see now a lot of the work that we have see now a lot of the work that we have done that is just I feel like paying off done that is just I feel like paying off done that is just I feel like paying off for us and so whether that's through for us and so whether that's through for us and so whether that's through building relational Equity through building relational Equity through building relational Equity through talking about like that Discovery part talking about like that Discovery part talking about like that Discovery part of the project what are you trying to do of the project what are you trying to do of the project what are you trying to do how can we help you what problem are you how can we help you what problem are you how can we help you what problem are you trying to solve um to then also like the trying to solve um to then also like the trying to solve um to then also like the other side where it's like the execution other side where it's like the execution other side where it's like the execution the delivery to really start seeing life the delivery to really start seeing life the delivery to really start seeing life change happen and hear stories from what

and grow digital reach and so we've done and grow digital reach and so we've done that through a ton of different ways um that through a ton of different ways um that through a ton of different ways um we launched a podcast last year uh we've we launched a podcast last year uh we've we launched a podcast last year uh we've been kind of figuring out what is the been kind of figuring out what is the been kind of figuring out what is the right um like search engine and like SEO right um like search engine and like SEO right um like search engine and like SEO stuff to like go down that and so not to stuff to like go down that and so not to stuff to like go down that and so not to get too technical but like what are some get too technical but like what are some get too technical but like what are some ways that we really can work to expand ways that we really can work to expand ways that we really can work to expand our digital reach and then in all of our our digital reach and then in all of our our digital reach and then in all of our team meetings that comes up and so even team meetings that comes up and so even team meetings that comes up and so even our senior leader is sharing hey guys our senior leader is sharing hey guys our senior leader is sharing hey guys like we're seeing this this is going like we're seeing this this is going like we're seeing this this is going right back to the priority so then that right back to the priority so then that right back to the priority so then that also helps our staff know what to look also helps our staff know what to look also helps our staff know what to look for and listen for to also then I think for and listen for to also then I think for and listen for to also then I think share it back with us so we can share it back with us so we can share it back with us so we can celebrate those wins with them yeah I celebrate those wins with them yeah I celebrate those wins with them yeah I getting the senior getting the senior getting the senior leadership is incredibly important in leadership is incredibly important in leadership is incredibly important in that yeah I don't want people to over that yeah I don't want people to over that yeah I don't want people to over Overlook that because it's I think as as Overlook that because it's I think as as Overlook that because it's I think as as com directors or people that are in com directors or people that are in com directors or people that are in Communications we know that Communications we know that Communications we know that stories are some of the best fruit that stories are some of the best fruit that stories are some of the best fruit that you can you can try to capture and share you can you can try to capture and share you can you can try to capture and share with people not only your people but with people not only your people but with people not only your people but other people right they can see hope other people right they can see hope other people right they can see hope inside that story and it's one thing for inside that story and it's one thing for inside that story and it's one thing for us as com directors to try and push that us as com directors to try and push that us as com directors to try and push that and say we really need that real but and say we really need that real but and say we really need that real but it's another thing to have the it's another thing to have the it's another thing to have the leadership come in and say this is just leadership come in and say this is just leadership come in and say this is just a this is the fabric of who we are yeah a this is the fabric of who we are yeah a this is the fabric of who we are yeah how did did they did you know that or is how did did they did you know that or is how did did they did you know that or is that something like you you had to go that something like you you had to go that something like you you had to go try and pitch or just your leaders knew try and pitch or just your leaders knew try and pitch or just your leaders knew yeah so I would say that it's probably a yeah so I would say that it's probably a yeah so I would say that it's probably a combination of the two I think when we combination of the two I think when we combination of the two I think when we can show up with using stories we've can show up with using stories we've can show up with using stories we've heard well yeah then that also just

know at LCBC um and so really it's kind know at LCBC um and so really it's kind of matching the stories with those right of matching the stories with those right of matching the stories with those right platforms and so there are definitely platforms and so there are definitely platforms and so there are definitely times I mean we just shared one this times I mean we just shared one this times I mean we just shared one this weekend um that the story was very weekend um that the story was very weekend um that the story was very intrical to the message and so that like intrical to the message and so that like intrical to the message and so that like was a great lineup of sharing someone's was a great lineup of sharing someone's was a great lineup of sharing someone's life change story with what was going on life change story with what was going on life change story with what was going on like within our weekend Communicator um like within our weekend Communicator um like within our weekend Communicator um but then there are times where we'll but then there are times where we'll but then there are times where we'll just share a pull quote in our email and just share a pull quote in our email and just share a pull quote in our email and say hey guys as you know we're in like a say hey guys as you know we're in like a say hey guys as you know we're in like a group season you know uh we'd love like group season you know uh we'd love like group season you know uh we'd love like get plugged into a group hear someone's get plugged into a group hear someone's get plugged into a group hear someone's story about they got plugged into a story about they got plugged into a story about they got plugged into a group and what's happened as a result group and what's happened as a result group and what's happened as a result and so um yeah I think it's just and so um yeah I think it's just and so um yeah I think it's just matching the right story with the right matching the right story with the right matching the right story with the right Channel and then kind of figuring out Channel and then kind of figuring out Channel and then kind of figuring out like the Inspire and the inform and like the Inspire and the inform and like the Inspire and the inform and making sure that those two things go making sure that those two things go making sure that those two things go together even when you're telling together even when you're telling together even when you're telling someone's story yeah yeah know that's so someone's story yeah yeah know that's so someone's story yeah yeah know that's so good um I think yeah some takeaways good um I think yeah some takeaways good um I think yeah some takeaways there is well first of all just that there is well first of all just that there is well first of all just that culture of capturing stories and then culture of capturing stories and then culture of capturing stories and then knowing what to do with it um now do you knowing what to do with it um now do you knowing what to do with it um now do you how often so if you get a good do you how often so if you get a good do you how often so if you get a good do you guys just go all out sometimes just guys just go all out sometimes just guys just go all out sometimes just create a whole video that's sh on the create a whole video that's sh on the create a whole video that's sh on the weekend and yeah and you're able to push weekend and yeah and you're able to push weekend and yeah and you're able to push that out everywhere yeah yeah absolutely that out everywhere yeah yeah absolutely that out everywhere yeah yeah absolutely and so uh do have a great team of uh and so uh do have a great team of uh and so uh do have a great team of uh videographers who um a couple of them in videographers who um a couple of them in videographers who um a couple of them in particular like they just live and particular like they just live and particular like they just live and breathe stories and so how are they just breathe stories and so how are they just breathe stories and so how are they just hearing them and then they have a great hearing them and then they have a great hearing them and then they have a great like pre-interview and even care process like pre-interview and even care process like pre-interview and even care process because you know like when you share because you know like when you share because you know like when you share your story that can be really vulnerable your story that can be really vulnerable your story that can be really vulnerable um a lot of times people start sharing um a lot of times people start sharing um a lot of times people start sharing stuff that they may not have even been

stuff that they may not have even been stuff that they may not have even been expecting or anticipating to share as a expecting or anticipating to share as a expecting or anticipating to share as a result of that and so the guys just do a result of that and so the guys just do a result of that and so the guys just do a great job of also caring for the person great job of also caring for the person great job of also caring for the person in that process yeah um and so a lot of in that process yeah um and so a lot of in that process yeah um and so a lot of times we will shoot stories to just kind times we will shoot stories to just kind times we will shoot stories to just kind of have them in the can if you will um of have them in the can if you will um of have them in the can if you will um and then they're oftentimes too where and then they're oftentimes too where and then they're oftentimes too where we'll actually be going and looking for we'll actually be going and looking for we'll actually be going and looking for something specific uh we yeah we are something specific uh we yeah we are something specific uh we yeah we are very blessed with a lot of life change very blessed with a lot of life change very blessed with a lot of life change uh in our church and so typically our uh in our church and so typically our uh in our church and so typically our attendees are also very eager to share attendees are also very eager to share attendees are also very eager to share what God's doing in their life um and what God's doing in their life um and what God's doing in their life um and even for the folks that are like ah I even for the folks that are like ah I even for the folks that are like ah I don't know I don't think I really have a don't know I don't think I really have a don't know I don't think I really have a story a lot of times those are the ones story a lot of times those are the ones story a lot of times those are the ones that are like the most captivating yeah that are like the most captivating yeah that are like the most captivating yeah well I tell you I say this to every all well I tell you I say this to every all well I tell you I say this to every all the time is if your church is the time is if your church is the time is if your church is growing that's an indication that God's growing that's an indication that God's growing that's an indication that God's moving in your church and if God's moving in your church and if God's moving in your church and if God's moving in your church stories are being moving in your church stories are being moving in your church stories are being are are being created because life is are are being created because life is are are being created because life is being changed right and I think the the being changed right and I think the the being changed right and I think the the key in the concept is you're you're not key in the concept is you're you're not key in the concept is you're you're not only wanting to energize your your only wanting to energize your your only wanting to energize your your people like and and just give your your people like and and just give your your people like and and just give your your own people like oh that's really cool own people like oh that's really cool own people like oh that's really cool and just lifts people up I think it goes and just lifts people up I think it goes and just lifts people up I think it goes way deeper than that it helps people who way deeper than that it helps people who way deeper than that it helps people who don't go to your church church if you do don't go to your church church if you do don't go to your church church if you do this right that they could see this right that they could see this right that they could see themselves in that situation and just themselves in that situation and just themselves in that situation and just find that there's hope there's a God who find that there's hope there's a God who find that there's hope there's a God who loves them who will see them through loves them who will see them through loves them who will see them through this storm that they're in totally this storm that they're in totally this storm that they're in totally that's the stuff that you don't really that's the stuff that you don't really that's the stuff that you don't really realize how the Lord knows about this realize how the Lord knows about this realize how the Lord knows about this but we don't necessarily unless we but we don't necessarily unless we but we don't necessarily unless we unless tell us but that's the cool stuff unless tell us but that's the cool stuff unless tell us but that's the cool stuff I think that just that all that stuff

just very specific priorities very just very specific priorities very specific um just drivers of like what is specific um just drivers of like what is specific um just drivers of like what is differentiating and core to who we are differentiating and core to who we are differentiating and core to who we are um sometimes we'll even refer refer to um sometimes we'll even refer refer to um sometimes we'll even refer refer to it as like the LCBC way and just like it as like the LCBC way and just like it as like the LCBC way and just like this is who we are and we're this is who we are and we're this is who we are and we're Unapologetic about that and how do we Unapologetic about that and how do we Unapologetic about that and how do we make decisions through those filters and make decisions through those filters and make decisions through those filters and so what can be challenging is when you so what can be challenging is when you so what can be challenging is when you have whether it's a Ministry or another have whether it's a Ministry or another have whether it's a Ministry or another location um that they're just really location um that they're just really location um that they're just really excited about this cool thing or they excited about this cool thing or they excited about this cool thing or they really want to do this crazy thing that really want to do this crazy thing that really want to do this crazy thing that you know seems really off-the-wall and you know seems really off-the-wall and you know seems really off-the-wall and just kind of having to like pull the just kind of having to like pull the just kind of having to like pull the layers off that onion to get kind of to layers off that onion to get kind of to layers off that onion to get kind of to the problem the thing under the thing the problem the thing under the thing the problem the thing under the thing usually and then just make hard usually and then just make hard usually and then just make hard decisions around hey is that the right decisions around hey is that the right decisions around hey is that the right thing is that going um you know in the thing is that going um you know in the thing is that going um you know in the direction of our mission and our our direction of our mission and our our direction of our mission and our our drivers and our you know who we are um drivers and our you know who we are um drivers and our you know who we are um and when it's not like I mean that leads and when it's not like I mean that leads and when it's not like I mean that leads to tough conversations and so one of our to tough conversations and so one of our to tough conversations and so one of our values is to have the right values is to have the right values is to have the right conversations with the right person you conversations with the right person you conversations with the right person you know the whole truth with Grace and so know the whole truth with Grace and so know the whole truth with Grace and so how do we really have that conversation how do we really have that conversation how do we really have that conversation and say hey this is what I'm hearing and say hey this is what I'm hearing and say hey this is what I'm hearing this is what you know feels like um we this is what you know feels like um we this is what you know feels like um we need to kind of m a little bit to figure need to kind of m a little bit to figure need to kind of m a little bit to figure out it's the right thing and then one of out it's the right thing and then one of out it's the right thing and then one of our things is like we just try to find a our things is like we just try to find a our things is like we just try to find a way to yes and so that doesn't mean it way to yes and so that doesn't mean it way to yes and so that doesn't mean it might be the thing you start with but might be the thing you start with but might be the thing you start with but that doesn't mean we can't serve you and that doesn't mean we can't serve you and that doesn't mean we can't serve you and help you get to the thing that you're help you get to the thing that you're help you get to the thing that you're trying to solve I love that you just trying to solve I love that you just trying to solve I love that you just said at the end we always we always try said at the end we always we always try said at the end we always we always try and get to a yes because I I think and get to a yes because I I think and get to a yes because I I think sometimes as com directors we might just sometimes as com directors we might just sometimes as com directors we might just say NOP you can't have that it doesn't

everything else yeah great question um everything else yeah great question um so it's funny because I was processing so it's funny because I was processing so it's funny because I was processing that a little bit um even before our that a little bit um even before our that a little bit um even before our conversation today and I don't know that conversation today and I don't know that conversation today and I don't know that we would describe it that way we would describe it that way we would describe it that way necessarily and so yes we are in the necessarily and so yes we are in the necessarily and so yes we are in the week for the weekend absolutely um but week for the weekend absolutely um but week for the weekend absolutely um but more so through the filters I think we more so through the filters I think we more so through the filters I think we operate and then that naturally informs operate and then that naturally informs operate and then that naturally informs the weight to Sunday in all Ministry the weight to Sunday in all Ministry the weight to Sunday in all Ministry environments and so for us we very much environments and so for us we very much environments and so for us we very much believe in relevant Gatherings that are believe in relevant Gatherings that are believe in relevant Gatherings that are simple and applicable Dynamic kid in simple and applicable Dynamic kid in simple and applicable Dynamic kid in student Ministries uh we want our people student Ministries uh we want our people student Ministries uh we want our people for it to be easy to feel seen and known for it to be easy to feel seen and known for it to be easy to feel seen and known and we want to blow away our people with and we want to blow away our people with and we want to blow away our people with personal care and follow through and so personal care and follow through and so personal care and follow through and so a lot of that happens on a Sunday a lot of that happens on a Sunday a lot of that happens on a Sunday absolutely um but also a lot of that absolutely um but also a lot of that absolutely um but also a lot of that happens outside of Sunday and so when happens outside of Sunday and so when happens outside of Sunday and so when we're working on projects and um we're working on projects and um we're working on projects and um intaking work and helping our Ministries intaking work and helping our Ministries intaking work and helping our Ministries and our campuses um those probably are and our campuses um those probably are and our campuses um those probably are the higher level filters we think the higher level filters we think the higher level filters we think through and then determine what through and then determine what through and then determine what priorities and projects look like from priorities and projects look like from priorities and projects look like from there wow okay yeah because you you have there wow okay yeah because you you have there wow okay yeah because you you have a lot to deal with I mean with with all a lot to deal with I mean with with all a lot to deal with I mean with with all those campuses there's tons of those campuses there's tons of those campuses there's tons of Ministries wanting stuff so you could Ministries wanting stuff so you could Ministries wanting stuff so you could you could easily lose track of I'm sure you could easily lose track of I'm sure you could easily lose track of I'm sure yeah like you said time is your biggest yeah like you said time is your biggest yeah like you said time is your biggest thing that you have to yeah absolutely thing that you have to yeah absolutely thing that you have to yeah absolutely and that does not mean that Sunday's not and that does not mean that Sunday's not and that does not mean that Sunday's not important but I think it just also um important but I think it just also um important but I think it just also um what's the right way to say it like what's the right way to say it like what's the right way to say it like almost neutralizes it a little bit that almost neutralizes it a little bit that almost neutralizes it a little bit that then every team regardless of their then every team regardless of their then every team regardless of their Ministry area like we're all pointed

Ministry area like we're all pointed Ministry area like we're all pointed towards the same drivers were all towards the same drivers were all towards the same drivers were all pointed towards the same Mission um and pointed towards the same Mission um and pointed towards the same Mission um and so yes Dynamic kid in student ministry so yes Dynamic kid in student ministry so yes Dynamic kid in student ministry that's also a very high priority for us that's also a very high priority for us that's also a very high priority for us um because we want parents to like we um because we want parents to like we um because we want parents to like we want their kids to have amazing want their kids to have amazing want their kids to have amazing experiences where they're telling their experiences where they're telling their experiences where they're telling their parents I can't wait to come back if we parents I can't wait to come back if we parents I can't wait to come back if we were just focused on the weekend were just focused on the weekend were just focused on the weekend Gathering those two things would be out Gathering those two things would be out Gathering those two things would be out of balance with one another yeah yeah so of balance with one another yeah yeah so of balance with one another yeah yeah so true so true what what's some advice you true so true what what's some advice you true so true what what's some advice you would give to a you know a communication would give to a you know a communication would give to a you know a communication director who's fairly new to the role director who's fairly new to the role director who's fairly new to the role because you know you're not too far you because you know you're not too far you because you know you're not too far you know to new to the role what what kind know to new to the role what what kind know to new to the role what what kind of advice would you give uh them right of advice would you give uh them right of advice would you give uh them right now as their step in like what's the now as their step in like what's the now as their step in like what's the things they should PRI try to things they should PRI try to things they should PRI try to prioritize yeah for me and probably the prioritize yeah for me and probably the prioritize yeah for me and probably the way I'm wired relationships are just so way I'm wired relationships are just so way I'm wired relationships are just so important and so for me I love to get important and so for me I love to get important and so for me I love to get around people that I can ask a lot of around people that I can ask a lot of around people that I can ask a lot of questions to I think understanding questions to I think understanding questions to I think understanding organizational history is really key um organizational history is really key um organizational history is really key um especially when you you might even be especially when you you might even be especially when you you might even be seeing that you need to change seeing that you need to change seeing that you need to change directions or you know kind of turn the directions or you know kind of turn the directions or you know kind of turn the dial 10 or 15 degrees um the more you dial 10 or 15 degrees um the more you dial 10 or 15 degrees um the more you can do that with organizational history can do that with organizational history can do that with organizational history on your side with other people in the on your side with other people in the on your side with other people in the room kind of that you have relationships room kind of that you have relationships room kind of that you have relationships built with um I I don't know I just find built with um I I don't know I just find built with um I I don't know I just find that that can be easier to work through that that can be easier to work through that that can be easier to work through those um changes or challenges um and those um changes or challenges um and those um changes or challenges um and then also that you just have a great then also that you just have a great then also that you just have a great sounding board to process with and so I sounding board to process with and so I sounding board to process with and so I know um even my uh my supervisor said to know um even my uh my supervisor said to know um even my uh my supervisor said to me once hey kind of the more you move

me once hey kind of the more you move me once hey kind of the more you move through different leadership levels in a through different leadership levels in a through different leadership levels in a church just the lonelier it can get um church just the lonelier it can get um church just the lonelier it can get um and so how do you just make sure that and so how do you just make sure that and so how do you just make sure that you don't wake up one day finding you don't wake up one day finding you don't wake up one day finding yourself isolated on your own Island but yourself isolated on your own Island but yourself isolated on your own Island but that you know who your peers are within that you know who your peers are within that you know who your peers are within your church you reach out to other comms your church you reach out to other comms your church you reach out to other comms directors at other churches or even in directors at other churches or even in directors at other churches or even in Marketplace setting that can offer you Marketplace setting that can offer you Marketplace setting that can offer you wisdom um and be someone else to bounce wisdom um and be someone else to bounce wisdom um and be someone else to bounce something off of um but I don't know we something off of um but I don't know we something off of um but I don't know we were not wired to do it alone and figure were not wired to do it alone and figure were not wired to do it alone and figure it out alone and so I would say just it out alone and so I would say just it out alone and so I would say just make sure you know who your people are make sure you know who your people are make sure you know who your people are and those safe places to process with um and those safe places to process with um and those safe places to process with um espe especially when you're anticipating espe especially when you're anticipating espe especially when you're anticipating changes or um you know a course change changes or um you know a course change changes or um you know a course change that is so well said especially that that is so well said especially that that is so well said especially that organizational history I didn't really organizational history I didn't really organizational history I didn't really think of it that way I thought of more think of it that way I thought of more think of it that way I thought of more the culture but the organizational the culture but the organizational the culture but the organizational history is so critically important to history is so critically important to history is so critically important to that because you kind of know what got that because you kind of know what got that because you kind of know what got you up to this point as a church yeah you up to this point as a church yeah you up to this point as a church yeah and you're not your job isn't to step in and you're not your job isn't to step in and you're not your job isn't to step in and change everything right it's to and change everything right it's to and change everything right it's to continue to carry the mission and you continue to carry the mission and you continue to carry the mission and you but you have to understand the history but you have to understand the history but you have to understand the history that's that's really really good because that's that's really really good because that's that's really really good because culture is obviously culture is obviously culture is obviously one of those things where there's that one of those things where there's that one of those things where there's that line between stepping in and just being line between stepping in and just being line between stepping in and just being absorbed into the culture because then absorbed into the culture because then absorbed into the culture because then it may you may not be able to see what it may you may not be able to see what it may you may not be able to see what you do need to change because you're so you do need to change because you're so you do need to change because you're so stck into it but understand the history stck into it but understand the history stck into it but understand the history of it so that you can make some changes of it so that you can make some changes of it so that you can make some changes good changes moving forward is is pretty good changes moving forward is is pretty good changes moving forward is is pretty important yeah totally yeah and I know important yeah totally yeah and I know important yeah totally yeah and I know that I've definitely stepped in it too that I've definitely stepped in it too that I've definitely stepped in it too where you're like oh I didn't know that where you're like oh I didn't know that where you're like oh I didn't know that was a thing or I didn't realize that was was a thing or I didn't realize that was was a thing or I didn't realize that was so important to so and so and so the

so important to so and so and so the so important to so and so and so the faster you also just get to know all the faster you also just get to know all the faster you also just get to know all the so and soos like then that also just so and soos like then that also just so and soos like then that also just helps bridge that Gap and so I know helps bridge that Gap and so I know helps bridge that Gap and so I know there are people on our leadership team there are people on our leadership team there are people on our leadership team that I've just walked in uh you know and that I've just walked in uh you know and that I've just walked in uh you know and said hey I just need to process said hey I just need to process said hey I just need to process something with you this feels like something with you this feels like something with you this feels like something you might care about or you something you might care about or you something you might care about or you would have been a part of in the past I would have been a part of in the past I would have been a part of in the past I just want to make sure I know all the just want to make sure I know all the just want to make sure I know all the things so like we don't get it wrong or things so like we don't get it wrong or things so like we don't get it wrong or we don't move too fast in One Direction we don't move too fast in One Direction we don't move too fast in One Direction without honoring another Direction um without honoring another Direction um without honoring another Direction um and so yeah that as many times as I and so yeah that as many times as I and so yeah that as many times as I could say I've gotten it right there could say I've gotten it right there could say I've gotten it right there have definitely been times that you also have definitely been times that you also have definitely been times that you also get get it wrong and some of that you get get it wrong and some of that you get get it wrong and some of that you just live and you learn um how to in just live and you learn um how to in just live and you learn um how to in like just develop those relationships like just develop those relationships like just develop those relationships better in the future well it's a lot better in the future well it's a lot better in the future well it's a lot easier and and well it's a lot easier to easier and and well it's a lot easier to easier and and well it's a lot easier to learn from our failures right it's hard learn from our failures right it's hard learn from our failures right it's hard to learn from success because you I to learn from success because you I to learn from success because you I don't know it's successful but when it's don't know it's successful but when it's don't know it's successful but when it's a failure that's just my I my my advice a failure that's just my I my my advice a failure that's just my I my my advice to everybody is always to fail forward to everybody is always to fail forward to everybody is always to fail forward yep yeah because you're gonna I mean yep yeah because you're gonna I mean yep yeah because you're gonna I mean it's right so totally I just like to do it's right so totally I just like to do it's right so totally I just like to do it with a couple of my friends too it with a couple of my friends too it with a couple of my friends too that's yeah that's um and you kind of that's yeah that's um and you kind of that's yeah that's um and you kind of said this a little bit but like who do said this a little bit but like who do said this a little bit but like who do you look to or you know to help you do you look to or you know to help you do you look to or you know to help you do your job better where what your Outlets your job better where what your Outlets your job better where what your Outlets you kind of mentioned a little bit there you kind of mentioned a little bit there you kind of mentioned a little bit there you know with your supervisor or some you know with your supervisor or some you know with your supervisor or some other com directors where else are you other com directors where else are you other com directors where else are you getting inspiration yeah yeah so I would getting inspiration yeah yeah so I would getting inspiration yeah yeah so I would say also just on our um Church team uh I say also just on our um Church team uh I say also just on our um Church team uh I am very much in relationship with our am very much in relationship with our am very much in relationship with our student director our kid director Our student director our kid director Our student director our kid director Our Guest experience director those that um Guest experience director those that um Guest experience director those that um lead in our worship and arts department lead in our worship and arts department lead in our worship and arts department um and that is primarily so we can be

um and that is primarily so we can be um and that is primarily so we can be thinking at a more higher strategic thinking at a more higher strategic thinking at a more higher strategic level than just within our own silos if level than just within our own silos if level than just within our own silos if I woke up just thinking about I woke up just thinking about I woke up just thinking about Communications every day I'd be missing Communications every day I'd be missing Communications every day I'd be missing out on a lot of goodness that I could out on a lot of goodness that I could out on a lot of goodness that I could learn from my counterparts and so I learn from my counterparts and so I learn from my counterparts and so I think that um yeah again that just think that um yeah again that just think that um yeah again that just visual of like when you're working on an visual of like when you're working on an visual of like when you're working on an island that's when things get weird and island that's when things get weird and island that's when things get weird and so how do you know even on your own so how do you know even on your own so how do you know even on your own church team who are the right church team who are the right church team who are the right counterparts um that can help you think counterparts um that can help you think counterparts um that can help you think can help you process um but also that can help you process um but also that can help you process um but also that you can challenge and they can challenge you can challenge and they can challenge you can challenge and they can challenge you um because you know that you um because you know that you um because you know that fundamentally you're all going after the fundamentally you're all going after the fundamentally you're all going after the same same same Mission um and then I would say also Mission um and then I would say also Mission um and then I would say also just outside of my church team um we just outside of my church team um we just outside of my church team um we very much believe that we have so many very much believe that we have so many very much believe that we have so many gifts and talents within our church and gifts and talents within our church and gifts and talents within our church and so there are definitely people even in so there are definitely people even in so there are definitely people even in our church that are whether they're our church that are whether they're our church that are whether they're marketing professionals or designers or marketing professionals or designers or marketing professionals or designers or videographers or coms directors um our videographers or coms directors um our videographers or coms directors um our team is very used to also kind of having team is very used to also kind of having team is very used to also kind of having their people um to even be connected their people um to even be connected their people um to even be connected with those that aren't on our church with those that aren't on our church with those that aren't on our church staff but would love to serve or consult staff but would love to serve or consult staff but would love to serve or consult or talk through things with us um and or talk through things with us um and or talk through things with us um and yeah it's interesting too even with my yeah it's interesting too even with my yeah it's interesting too even with my um like Marketplace experience in retail um like Marketplace experience in retail um like Marketplace experience in retail management I still have people from that management I still have people from that management I still have people from that world that it's like hey can I process world that it's like hey can I process world that it's like hey can I process this people problem with you or you know this people problem with you or you know this people problem with you or you know this training thing that I'm feeling um this training thing that I'm feeling um this training thing that I'm feeling um because fundamentally a lot of it because fundamentally a lot of it because fundamentally a lot of it transfers right it's just a different transfers right it's just a different transfers right it's just a different craft that you're kind of transferring craft that you're kind of transferring craft that you're kind of transferring it it it under yeah and you mentioned something under yeah and you mentioned something under yeah and you mentioned something about a class that you guys are you're about a class that you guys are you're about a class that you guys are you're you're jumping into a class where you're

you're jumping into a class where you're you're jumping into a class where you're teaching or yeah yeah so we um have teaching or yeah yeah so we um have teaching or yeah yeah so we um have developed which is a two-year leadership developed which is a two-year leadership developed which is a two-year leadership program and so we have different tracks program and so we have different tracks program and so we have different tracks that you can jump into and so one of the that you can jump into and so one of the that you can jump into and so one of the classes that that um cohort goes through classes that that um cohort goes through classes that that um cohort goes through is communicating to be heard and so is communicating to be heard and so is communicating to be heard and so actually it's starting up um here soon actually it's starting up um here soon actually it's starting up um here soon and we go through crucial conversations and we go through crucial conversations and we go through crucial conversations uh and I said this you heard that which uh and I said this you heard that which uh and I said this you heard that which is like all temperaments and so kind of is like all temperaments and so kind of is like all temperaments and so kind of marrying that curriculum together um and marrying that curriculum together um and marrying that curriculum together um and so I love teaching it because I love the so I love teaching it because I love the so I love teaching it because I love the reminder every year that it's like yes reminder every year that it's like yes reminder every year that it's like yes these things are important and valuable these things are important and valuable these things are important and valuable um and kind of being able to brush up on um and kind of being able to brush up on um and kind of being able to brush up on it uh but yeah so those are two great it uh but yeah so those are two great it uh but yeah so those are two great resources as well um and then of course resources as well um and then of course resources as well um and then of course uh our church participates in Global uh our church participates in Global uh our church participates in Global Leadership Summit and so we have a lot Leadership Summit and so we have a lot Leadership Summit and so we have a lot of just content from those and that of just content from those and that of just content from those and that Avenue and so most of the people in that Avenue and so most of the people in that Avenue and so most of the people in that circuit I'd say a lot of us also follow circuit I'd say a lot of us also follow circuit I'd say a lot of us also follow their work yeah I leadership that's love their work yeah I leadership that's love their work yeah I leadership that's love that yeah the the Leadership Summit is that yeah the the Leadership Summit is that yeah the the Leadership Summit is always a good one to go to yeah um is always a good one to go to yeah um is always a good one to go to yeah um is there are there any any books that you there are there any any books that you there are there any any books that you have read you mentioned one but are any have read you mentioned one but are any have read you mentioned one but are any other books that have really helped other books that have really helped other books that have really helped Define you in terms of how you're doing Define you in terms of how you're doing Define you in terms of how you're doing your your your job um I feel like I should tell you yes job um I feel like I should tell you yes job um I feel like I should tell you yes but I don't know that I have a ton of but I don't know that I have a ton of but I don't know that I have a ton of those uh a couple of years ago actually those uh a couple of years ago actually those uh a couple of years ago actually as a team we read hurting tigers um I as a team we read hurting tigers um I as a team we read hurting tigers um I think it's Todd Henry uh and that was think it's Todd Henry uh and that was think it's Todd Henry uh and that was really good for our team to even the way really good for our team to even the way really good for our team to even the way he describes like creative guard rails he describes like creative guard rails he describes like creative guard rails and like how to help creatives think um and like how to help creatives think um and like how to help creatives think um I know that we yeah there's a couple of I know that we yeah there's a couple of I know that we yeah there's a couple of us that that follow his work more us that that follow his work more us that that follow his work more closely um just from the creative side
