we just been kind of steadily growing we just been kind of steadily growing and going from then so and going from then so and going from then so so uh what all does the online campus so uh what all does the online campus so uh what all does the online campus pastor like how is that structured other pastor like how is that structured other pastor like how is that structured other than weekend worship than weekend worship than weekend worship what else did they do so what else did they do so what else did they do so um so they actually have a team so they um so they actually have a team so they um so they actually have a team so they actually work actually work actually work on multiple things on connecting with on multiple things on connecting with on multiple things on connecting with people um all over so we we people um all over so we we people um all over so we we we have people that watch from basically we have people that watch from basically we have people that watch from basically all over all over the united states and all over all over the united states and all over all over the united states and even even even other parts of the country so um one of other parts of the country so um one of other parts of the country so um one of our our our our main purposes um for those that our main purposes um for those that our main purposes um for those that for those during coven you probably for those during coven you probably for those during coven you probably realize that online presence has become realize that online presence has become realize that online presence has become very popular a lot of times before covet very popular a lot of times before covet very popular a lot of times before covet people are using it as a front door to people are using it as a front door to people are using it as a front door to the church to kind of experience what the church to kind of experience what the church to kind of experience what what your church would be like so that what your church would be like so that what your church would be like so that was kind of a front door for us a lot of was kind of a front door for us a lot of was kind of a front door for us a lot of people would watch and people would watch and people would watch and um would learn who we are what was this um would learn who we are what was this um would learn who we are what was this what was their style of worship what what was their style of worship what what was their style of worship what kind of what kind of what kind of what what was the the pastor like what kind what was the the pastor like what kind what was the the pastor like what kind of what was this teaching like how did of what was this teaching like how did of what was this teaching like how did they do they do they do um that kind of stuff so that was kind um that kind of stuff so that was kind um that kind of stuff so that was kind of the initial of the initial of the initial initial start we started using um initial start we started using um initial start we started using um using some different tools like what using some different tools like what using some different tools like what life church uses with their online life church uses with their online life church uses with their online church online platform church online platform church online platform um done some stuff custom stuff um done some stuff custom stuff um done some stuff custom stuff ourselves ourselves ourselves in the past um using the the chat in the past um using the the chat in the past um using the the chat chat features and stuff and had chat features and stuff and had chat features and stuff and had volunteers or chat hosts volunteers or chat hosts volunteers or chat hosts um that would connect with people um that would connect with people um that would connect with people and and actually would follow up with and and actually would follow up with and and actually would follow up with people throughout the week and so that's people throughout the week and so that's people throughout the week and so that's kind of kind of kind of that's kind of grown even that's kind of grown even that's kind of grown even more so from just the church online

more so from just the church online more so from just the church online platform even growing to platform even growing to platform even growing to having hosts on facebook live and having hosts on facebook live and having hosts on facebook live and youtube live and doing that same thing youtube live and doing that same thing youtube live and doing that same thing connecting with people and be able to connecting with people and be able to connecting with people and be able to connect with them connect with them connect with them outside of just that weekend experience outside of just that weekend experience outside of just that weekend experience so we have a lot of follow-up so we have a lot of follow-up so we have a lot of follow-up that our hosts and our camp our online that our hosts and our camp our online that our hosts and our camp our online campus pastor will do follow-up campus pastor will do follow-up campus pastor will do follow-up with people outside of the weekend with people outside of the weekend with people outside of the weekend experience even experience even experience even so so it sounds like you guys are not so so it sounds like you guys are not so so it sounds like you guys are not only just trying to do only just trying to do only just trying to do church but actually start church but actually start church but actually start discipleshipping discipleshipping discipleshipping disciplining people uh they connect disciplining people uh they connect disciplining people uh they connect absolutely yeah we've we've i don't know absolutely yeah we've we've i don't know absolutely yeah we've we've i don't know if we've been successful i wouldn't say if we've been successful i wouldn't say if we've been successful i wouldn't say we've been successful but we've we've been successful but we've we've been successful but we've we're trying to figure out ways how we we're trying to figure out ways how we we're trying to figure out ways how we what does it look like to do what does it look like to do what does it look like to do um to do community groups where people um to do community groups where people um to do community groups where people can connect with each other can connect with each other can connect with each other um in an online forum and not just a um in an online forum and not just a um in an online forum and not just a um not during just this season of covet um not during just this season of covet um not during just this season of covet of of of people doing online just meeting with people doing online just meeting with people doing online just meeting with their community group their community group their community group through zoom but what does it look like through zoom but what does it look like through zoom but what does it look like with people across the country with people across the country with people across the country um how can they connect with people um how can they connect with people um how can they connect with people um if they're not connected with a local um if they're not connected with a local um if they're not connected with a local church or if they don't have a church or if they don't have a church or if they don't have a a church in their in their area or a a church in their in their area or a a church in their in their area or a church that is that is thriving and church that is that is thriving and church that is that is thriving and growing that that they're a part of how growing that that they're a part of how growing that that they're a part of how can we help them can we help them can we help them um how can with our mission how can we um how can with our mission how can we um how can with our mission how can we navigate them to god navigate them to god navigate them to god um how can we continue to deport to them um how can we continue to deport to them um how can we continue to deport to them and and and and um engage them uh in into the and um engage them uh in into the and um engage them uh in into the mission mission mission are you are you seeing success in that

i don't know i i i don't know if i would i don't know i i i don't know if i would have a have a have a a definitive yes saying success i i a definitive yes saying success i i a definitive yes saying success i i think we still needed to define think we still needed to define think we still needed to define what that what success looks like for us what that what success looks like for us what that what success looks like for us um in that field i know we've had people um in that field i know we've had people um in that field i know we've had people that have signed up for that have signed up for that have signed up for for those groups but as far as like what for those groups but as far as like what for those groups but as far as like what that looks like long-term that looks like long-term that looks like long-term i think we're still i think we're still i think we're still i think we're still i think we're still i think we're still real real real real new real uh i'm in the early stages real new real uh i'm in the early stages real new real uh i'm in the early stages of what that's gonna look like from a of what that's gonna look like from a of what that's gonna look like from a long-term perspective so long-term perspective so long-term perspective so yeah i uh um talking to a lot of yeah i uh um talking to a lot of yeah i uh um talking to a lot of churches around the country churches around the country churches around the country it seems like every church is at that it seems like every church is at that it seems like every church is at that stage that it's hard to determine stage that it's hard to determine stage that it's hard to determine what does success look like and do we what does success look like and do we what does success look like and do we want to want to want to pursue this but what's cool from my pursue this but what's cool from my pursue this but what's cool from my perspective is that perspective is that perspective is that because of covid it is causing the because of covid it is causing the because of covid it is causing the church to church to church to think and try these new strategies to think and try these new strategies to think and try these new strategies to meet and reach people and start to meet and reach people and start to meet and reach people and start to disciple them and leading them to disciple them and leading them to disciple them and leading them to with jesus and to me it that's a good with jesus and to me it that's a good with jesus and to me it that's a good thing right thing right thing right you know you're not going to hit a home you know you're not going to hit a home you know you're not going to hit a home run first at bat it might run first at bat it might run first at bat it might be a you know a bunch of strikeouts be a you know a bunch of strikeouts be a you know a bunch of strikeouts before you even hit the ball before you even hit the ball before you even hit the ball but at least you're trying absolutely but at least you're trying absolutely but at least you're trying absolutely yep yep yep yep yep yep i think that's what that's what's been i think that's what that's what's been i think that's what that's what's been kind of fun during this time it's given kind of fun during this time it's given kind of fun during this time it's given us an opportunity just to try things us an opportunity just to try things us an opportunity just to try things and to see if it works and if it doesn't and to see if it works and if it doesn't and to see if it works and if it doesn't that's okay we can shift and pivot and that's okay we can shift and pivot and that's okay we can shift and pivot and try something else so try something else so try something else so um one thing that's also been kind of um one thing that's also been kind of um one thing that's also been kind of cool just from our from our leadership cool just from our from our leadership cool just from our from our leadership perspective perspective perspective just um we've we've got a lot of um

just um we've we've got a lot of um just um we've we've got a lot of um they basically they've allowed us to be they basically they've allowed us to be they basically they've allowed us to be able to take those risks and have given able to take those risks and have given able to take those risks and have given us the resources that we need to be us the resources that we need to be us the resources that we need to be able to kind of step into those areas able to kind of step into those areas able to kind of step into those areas and see and see and see what does that look like how can we how what does that look like how can we how what does that look like how can we how can we continue to reach people can we continue to reach people can we continue to reach people um outside of our walls and connect them um outside of our walls and connect them um outside of our walls and connect them uh connect them with christ uh connect them with christ uh connect them with christ that's pretty cool so so you guys are that's pretty cool so so you guys are that's pretty cool so so you guys are you're back to doing in person you're back to doing in person you're back to doing in person we started so we started in person we started so we started in person we started so we started in person gatherings at the end of may gatherings at the end of may gatherings at the end of may went for a couple weeks had to take a went for a couple weeks had to take a went for a couple weeks had to take a hiatus because things kind of hiatus because things kind of hiatus because things kind of spiked back up in the in the dallas fort spiked back up in the in the dallas fort spiked back up in the in the dallas fort worth area so worth area so worth area so had to take a hiatus and then we started had to take a hiatus and then we started had to take a hiatus and then we started back again back again back again about four weeks ago so mid-august about four weeks ago so mid-august about four weeks ago so mid-august um we started back again um um we started back again um um we started back again um it's kind of it's been it's been slow it's kind of it's been it's been slow it's kind of it's been it's been slow going um i'd say it's going um i'd say it's going um i'd say it's not everybody is um not everybody is um not everybody is um obviously not everybody's coming back obviously not everybody's coming back obviously not everybody's coming back just yet so we're trying to figure out just yet so we're trying to figure out just yet so we're trying to figure out what that looks like moving forward we what that looks like moving forward we what that looks like moving forward we just opened up just opened up just opened up our kids environments for kids and our kids environments for kids and our kids environments for kids and students students students just a couple weeks ago so when we just a couple weeks ago so when we just a couple weeks ago so when we started back in august we didn't start started back in august we didn't start started back in august we didn't start back with back with back with every like everything full on so kind of every like everything full on so kind of every like everything full on so kind of doing some of those in phases doing some of those in phases doing some of those in phases and everything so so it's and everything so so it's and everything so so it's when you think about the the idea of when you think about the the idea of when you think about the the idea of getting people to come back getting people to come back getting people to come back i think churches are starting to i think churches are starting to i think churches are starting to strategize around that so i'd love to strategize around that so i'd love to strategize around that so i'd love to hear from you on have you guys thought hear from you on have you guys thought hear from you on have you guys thought through through through how are we going to get our people our

how are we going to get our people our how are we going to get our people our our people our people our people that call compass our home church how that call compass our home church how that call compass our home church how are we going to get them back are we going to get them back are we going to get them back together and is it safe to do that even together and is it safe to do that even together and is it safe to do that even you know or is there a timeline that you know or is there a timeline that you know or is there a timeline that we're trying to follow or have you guys we're trying to follow or have you guys we're trying to follow or have you guys given thought up given thought up given thought up to what that looks like so we started to what that looks like so we started to what that looks like so we started having conversations about that having conversations about that having conversations about that yesterday actually with our leadership yesterday actually with our leadership yesterday actually with our leadership team just team just team just trying to wade through what that looks trying to wade through what that looks trying to wade through what that looks like like like um i would say i would say um i would say i would say um i would say i would say right now if you'd ask some of our right now if you'd ask some of our right now if you'd ask some of our pastors have asked some of our community pastors have asked some of our community pastors have asked some of our community group leaders and some of our court group leaders and some of our court group leaders and some of our court leaders kind of where they leaders kind of where they leaders kind of where they where they sit on the fence or whatever where they sit on the fence or whatever where they sit on the fence or whatever as far as feeling comfortable to come as far as feeling comfortable to come as far as feeling comfortable to come back in person or if they're not ready back in person or if they're not ready back in person or if they're not ready yet kind of thing so we're we're from yet kind of thing so we're we're from yet kind of thing so we're we're from what we're hearing so far it's kind of a what we're hearing so far it's kind of a what we're hearing so far it's kind of a 50 50 mix some of them are 50 50 mix some of them are 50 50 mix some of them are yes let's do it kind of gung-ho kind of yes let's do it kind of gung-ho kind of yes let's do it kind of gung-ho kind of thing but then you have those that are thing but then you have those that are thing but then you have those that are still not ready but at the same time still not ready but at the same time still not ready but at the same time it's it's hard it's it's hard it's it's hard and many people can probably attest to and many people can probably attest to and many people can probably attest to this especially if you if you follow a this especially if you if you follow a this especially if you if you follow a lot of your lot of your lot of your members on social media if you see them members on social media if you see them members on social media if you see them out doing things in the public say out doing things in the public say out doing things in the public say they're taking pictures or selfies with they're taking pictures or selfies with they're taking pictures or selfies with their friends at the gym or their friends at the gym or their friends at the gym or at a concert or whatever they're doing at a concert or whatever they're doing at a concert or whatever they're doing something where they are something where they are something where they are around other people but they still don't around other people but they still don't around other people but they still don't feel comfortable come back to church feel comfortable come back to church feel comfortable come back to church that's like one of those things that that's like one of those things that that's like one of those things that we're trying to like we're trying to like we're trying to like okay we like where where what is what is okay we like where where what is what is okay we like where where what is what is it that is it that is it that is where's the disconnect that we're having where's the disconnect that we're having where's the disconnect that we're having here like what is it here like what is it here like what is it did one of the questions is did we make did one of the questions is did we make did one of the questions is did we make the online experience

the online experience the online experience too good and push that so hard that too good and push that so hard that too good and push that so hard that people people just get comfortable i people people just get comfortable i people people just get comfortable i mean we're all mean we're all mean we're all all of us are creatures of habit have we all of us are creatures of habit have we all of us are creatures of habit have we made that so made that so made that so good of an experience that good of an experience that good of an experience that they're just they're okay with staying they're just they're okay with staying they're just they're okay with staying that way i think that's a conversation that way i think that's a conversation that way i think that's a conversation we're trying to figure out how can how we're trying to figure out how can how we're trying to figure out how can how can we get people to can we get people to can we get people to to to get out of that comfort zone to to to get out of that comfort zone to to to get out of that comfort zone to get uncomfortable get uncomfortable get uncomfortable um the online campus and doing stuff um the online campus and doing stuff um the online campus and doing stuff online is great online is great online is great have no issues with doing any of that have no issues with doing any of that have no issues with doing any of that but sometimes but sometimes but sometimes people have got to you've got to get people have got to you've got to get people have got to you've got to get them moving them moving them moving for them to sit at home and just watch for them to sit at home and just watch for them to sit at home and just watch it and not engage that's it and not engage that's it and not engage that's that's not what we want them to do if that's not what we want them to do if that's not what we want them to do if they're a part of our campus and they're they're a part of our campus and they're they're a part of our campus and they're a part of the online campus somewhere a part of the online campus somewhere a part of the online campus somewhere else like in the united states or else like in the united states or else like in the united states or whatever that they're not connected whatever that they're not connected whatever that they're not connected that's that's that's that's one thing or if they're on that's one thing or if they're on that's one thing or if they're on vacation or sick vacation or sick vacation or sick that kind of stuff but if they're how that kind of stuff but if they're how that kind of stuff but if they're how can we get them to can we get them to can we get them to to continually engage with um to continually engage with um to continually engage with um with the body of christ with each other with the body of christ with each other with the body of christ with each other and uh just to and uh just to and uh just to um to grow in their faith so that's um to grow in their faith so that's um to grow in their faith so that's that's definitely something we're trying that's definitely something we're trying that's definitely something we're trying to figure out to figure out to figure out what does that look like for us moving what does that look like for us moving what does that look like for us moving forward what does our language need forward what does our language need forward what does our language need do we need to change some of our do we need to change some of our do we need to change some of our language on how we communicate that language on how we communicate that language on how we communicate that um to them so yeah it'll be interesting um to them so yeah it'll be interesting um to them so yeah it'll be interesting to see to see to see how what you guys come up with and and how what you guys come up with and and how what you guys come up with and and uh no doubt every church uh no doubt every church uh no doubt every church is having that same kind of conversation is having that same kind of conversation is having that same kind of conversation uh i know we are when we're talking to uh i know we are when we're talking to uh i know we are when we're talking to churches and the

churches and the churches and the you i think you said it perfectly it's you i think you said it perfectly it's you i think you said it perfectly it's we created such a great online we created such a great online we created such a great online experience that experience that experience that hey this is kind of fun i can roll out hey this is kind of fun i can roll out hey this is kind of fun i can roll out of bed in my pajamas grab the kids watch of bed in my pajamas grab the kids watch of bed in my pajamas grab the kids watch church go on with my day church go on with my day church go on with my day and but we yeah we which is which is and but we yeah we which is which is and but we yeah we which is which is fine and good but we understand that fine and good but we understand that fine and good but we understand that community community community needs to happen in person and i i don't needs to happen in person and i i don't needs to happen in person and i i don't think people are going to think people are going to think people are going to wander their way back to coming in wander their way back to coming in wander their way back to coming in person person person all the time again some will right but i all the time again some will right but i all the time again some will right but i think a church think a church think a church like you guys should be intentional like you guys should be intentional like you guys should be intentional about you know creating about you know creating about you know creating um uh not only opportunities for people um uh not only opportunities for people um uh not only opportunities for people to come back together like let's do a to come back together like let's do a to come back together like let's do a fun day where the fun day where the fun day where the we invite everybody back and we're all we invite everybody back and we're all we invite everybody back and we're all outside and that kind of thing but outside and that kind of thing but outside and that kind of thing but actually actually actually promoting it and being intentional about promoting it and being intentional about promoting it and being intentional about getting in front of their face because i getting in front of their face because i getting in front of their face because i think we gotta think we gotta think we gotta we gotta break those we would call them we gotta break those we would call them we gotta break those we would call them a good habit because they're watching a good habit because they're watching a good habit because they're watching church well that's a good habit but we church well that's a good habit but we church well that's a good habit but we want them to be in person want them to be in person want them to be in person at church so we got to kind of reshape at church so we got to kind of reshape at church so we got to kind of reshape that habit right that habit right that habit right absolutely absolutely yeah absolutely absolutely yeah absolutely absolutely yeah so what had so this has been obviously a so what had so this has been obviously a so what had so this has been obviously a challenge for you as a communication challenge for you as a communication challenge for you as a communication director and a leader director and a leader director and a leader uh what have you what have you done that uh what have you what have you done that uh what have you what have you done that has worked and hasn't worked and when it has worked and hasn't worked and when it has worked and hasn't worked and when it comes to doing your job oh goodness um i think one thing just oh goodness um i think one thing just just in any role within the church just in any role within the church just in any role within the church especially in the season you've got to especially in the season you've got to especially in the season you've got to be be be flexible and adaptable if you if it's flexible and adaptable if you if it's flexible and adaptable if you if it's hard for you to change hard for you to change hard for you to change you i think you're in the wrong business

you i think you're in the wrong business you i think you're in the wrong business because um because um because um one jesus changed people so if you're one jesus changed people so if you're one jesus changed people so if you're not if you're not not if you're not not if you're not just ready to change just what's going just ready to change just what's going just ready to change just what's going on within our culture and to be able to on within our culture and to be able to on within our culture and to be able to adapt to be able to adapt to be able to adapt to be able to connect with people where they're at if connect with people where they're at if connect with people where they're at if you're not if you're not willing to you're not if you're not willing to you're not if you're not willing to change that's going to be change that's going to be change that's going to be it's going to be real tough for you to it's going to be real tough for you to it's going to be real tough for you to get people to get people to get people to to even listen um so i i think to even listen um so i i think to even listen um so i i think being being adaptable and and being being being adaptable and and being being being adaptable and and being willing to change willing to change willing to change is is key um some of the things that i is is key um some of the things that i is is key um some of the things that i think would say think would say think would say i would say that um not to do i would say that um not to do i would say that um not to do would be don't get your feelings hurt um would be don't get your feelings hurt um would be don't get your feelings hurt um because i think there's so many moving because i think there's so many moving because i think there's so many moving parts um parts um parts um when all this first happened i feel like when all this first happened i feel like when all this first happened i feel like we're kind of in the wild wild west we're kind of in the wild wild west we're kind of in the wild wild west like everybody's just trying to figure like everybody's just trying to figure like everybody's just trying to figure out what what can we do to make stuff out what what can we do to make stuff out what what can we do to make stuff happen happen happen and i think sometimes um decisions are and i think sometimes um decisions are and i think sometimes um decisions are made or we need to made or we need to made or we need to we need to shift things around and it we need to shift things around and it we need to shift things around and it has nothing to do with has nothing to do with has nothing to do with people's like like trying to attack people's like like trying to attack people's like like trying to attack somebody's somebody's somebody's specific role or anything like that i specific role or anything like that i specific role or anything like that i think sometimes we just got to think sometimes we just got to think sometimes we just got to you got to make changes in adapt like i you got to make changes in adapt like i you got to make changes in adapt like i said so sometimes you just got to be said so sometimes you just got to be said so sometimes you just got to be you got to be a team player and kind of you got to be a team player and kind of you got to be a team player and kind of step in and step in and step in and and and fill the gap a lot of times and and fill the gap a lot of times and and fill the gap a lot of times where where where where is needed so a lot of times say where is needed so a lot of times say where is needed so a lot of times say there's there's say there's a ministry there's there's say there's a ministry there's there's say there's a ministry that only that only that only you can only really do that ministry you can only really do that ministry you can only really do that ministry with in person so what does that really with in person so what does that really with in person so what does that really if that was your role of doing something

if that was your role of doing something if that was your role of doing something that your ministry has to happen with that your ministry has to happen with that your ministry has to happen with people there people there people there what can you do now to what can you do now to what can you do now to help help other areas of the church help help other areas of the church help help other areas of the church succeed succeed succeed and even ultimately i mean that's not and even ultimately i mean that's not and even ultimately i mean that's not gonna just help gonna just help gonna just help help that ministry it's gonna help the help that ministry it's gonna help the help that ministry it's gonna help the church overall and would help your church overall and would help your church overall and would help your ministry grow ministry grow ministry grow when you get back to that point of being when you get back to that point of being when you get back to that point of being back in person so back in person so back in person so i think i think just being able to don't i think i think just being able to don't i think i think just being able to don't don't be scared don't be scared don't be scared of uh feeling like somebody's gonna step of uh feeling like somebody's gonna step of uh feeling like somebody's gonna step in and take your in and take your in and take your take your role just be adaptable and be take your role just be adaptable and be take your role just be adaptable and be a team player a team player a team player so yeah and be willing to try things so yeah and be willing to try things so yeah and be willing to try things knowing that we're probably gonna fail knowing that we're probably gonna fail knowing that we're probably gonna fail but but but that's what's going to cause us to get that's what's going to cause us to get that's what's going to cause us to get better and find something that actually better and find something that actually better and find something that actually works works works really well and i think that's kind of really well and i think that's kind of really well and i think that's kind of the yeah the yeah the yeah that's what we're called to do that's what we're called to do that's what we're called to do absolutely absolutely absolutely yeah so um are there yeah so um are there yeah so um are there to kind of put you on the spot are there to kind of put you on the spot are there to kind of put you on the spot are there any sacred cows that compass any sacred cows that compass any sacred cows that compass was doing uh in the past but because of was doing uh in the past but because of was doing uh in the past but because of covid and you you know this kind of covid and you you know this kind of covid and you you know this kind of shutdown and now you're shutdown and now you're shutdown and now you're back open that you don't you're not back open that you don't you're not back open that you don't you're not bringing with you the old baggage that bringing with you the old baggage that bringing with you the old baggage that you're leaving in the past that like you're leaving in the past that like you're leaving in the past that like yeah we were doing this ministry or we yeah we were doing this ministry or we yeah we were doing this ministry or we were doing that event or that program or were doing that event or that program or were doing that event or that program or we were saying this or that and we were saying this or that and we were saying this or that and now is a good opportunity to kind of now is a good opportunity to kind of now is a good opportunity to kind of kill that because we can kill that because we can kill that because we can i i think we're looking at what some of i i think we're looking at what some of i i think we're looking at what some of those opportunities are those opportunities are those opportunities are um obviously um obviously um obviously some of the events we've had to cancel some of the events we've had to cancel some of the events we've had to cancel just because just because of the season

just because just because of the season just because just because of the season but i think but i think but i think i think what we're evaluating also i think what we're evaluating also i think what we're evaluating also moving forward moving forward moving forward is is that something that we need to is is that something that we need to is is that something that we need to continue doing or is it do we continue doing or is it do we continue doing or is it do we is there a way that we can still is there a way that we can still is there a way that we can still accomplish that same mission but in a accomplish that same mission but in a accomplish that same mission but in a different different different a different format so um one of the a different format so um one of the a different format so um one of the things that we've things that we've things that we've kind of we we we thought real real real kind of we we we thought real real real kind of we we we thought real real real hard hard hard and uh prayed about this for for quite a and uh prayed about this for for quite a and uh prayed about this for for quite a while is while is while is um we've we've done this uh mill um we've we've done this uh mill um we've we've done this uh mill marathon marathon marathon um where we pack about half a million um where we pack about half a million um where we pack about half a million meals um every year to send down meals um every year to send down meals um every year to send down to send uh meals down to kids in haiti to send uh meals down to kids in haiti to send uh meals down to kids in haiti and um so we're getting to that point of and um so we're getting to that point of and um so we're getting to that point of the year the year the year um which we've already decided that um which we've already decided that um which we've already decided that we're gonna do it like what does that we're gonna do it like what does that we're gonna do it like what does that look like because look like because look like because in the past it was a an all-day thing in the past it was a an all-day thing in the past it was a an all-day thing get as many people in as get as many people in as get as many people in as we can about 2 000 people from the we can about 2 000 people from the we can about 2 000 people from the community and from our church that are community and from our church that are community and from our church that are coming in like we'd have people from all coming in like we'd have people from all coming in like we'd have people from all over the community over the community over the community like their groups like football teams like their groups like football teams like their groups like football teams like boy scouts like boy scouts like boy scouts um all kinds of different groups other um all kinds of different groups other um all kinds of different groups other churches would come churches would come churches would come we'd have muslim churches that would we'd have muslim churches that would we'd have muslim churches that would come and be a part of this and um come and be a part of this and um come and be a part of this and um they would just basically all day they would just basically all day they would just basically all day saturday we would pack meals from saturday we would pack meals from saturday we would pack meals from 8 a.m to 4 p.m and we'd be able to pack 8 a.m to 4 p.m and we'd be able to pack 8 a.m to 4 p.m and we'd be able to pack 500 000 meals just in in a in a 500 000 meals just in in a in a 500 000 meals just in in a in a container down to container down to container down to down to haiti so think about okay what down to haiti so think about okay what down to haiti so think about okay what does that look like this year does that look like this year does that look like this year obviously we can't do we can't do obviously we can't do we can't do obviously we can't do we can't do something like that something like that something like that in that same capacity or that same

in that same capacity or that same in that same capacity or that same format so so our outreach team has kind format so so our outreach team has kind format so so our outreach team has kind of of of thought through kind of a whole brand thought through kind of a whole brand thought through kind of a whole brand new a brand new new a brand new new a brand new way for us to be able to just still to way for us to be able to just still to way for us to be able to just still to still do something like that and the still do something like that and the still do something like that and the reason why we move forward to doing is reason why we move forward to doing is reason why we move forward to doing is because because because we actually we we could easily we actually we we could easily we actually we we could easily um and this may help answer what are um and this may help answer what are um and this may help answer what are some ways that we're trying to engage some ways that we're trying to engage some ways that we're trying to engage people people people back into being in person um back into being in person um back into being in person um we could easily just send money to the we could easily just send money to the we could easily just send money to the mission and get people to mission and get people to mission and get people to and send the meals down to haiti we we and send the meals down to haiti we we and send the meals down to haiti we we have those funds available to be able to have those funds available to be able to have those funds available to be able to where we could just do that and just where we could just do that and just where we could just do that and just send them down and and send them down and and send them down and and that's that but one of the things that that's that but one of the things that that's that but one of the things that we realized we realized we realized during the past during the mill marathon during the past during the mill marathon during the past during the mill marathon is is is getting people engaged and doing getting people engaged and doing getting people engaged and doing something like that and the camaraderie something like that and the camaraderie something like that and the camaraderie being around being around being around other people do it doing kind of like other people do it doing kind of like other people do it doing kind of like that team environment where they're that team environment where they're that team environment where they're packing meals and packing meals and packing meals and um just the bigger mission of them um just the bigger mission of them um just the bigger mission of them actually doing something as a part of it actually doing something as a part of it actually doing something as a part of it has brought has brought a lot of um has brought has brought a lot of um has brought has brought a lot of um i don't know what their exact word is i don't know what their exact word is i don't know what their exact word is but uh just growth for people but uh just growth for people but uh just growth for people just in there in their um and how they just in there in their um and how they just in there in their um and how they serve serve serve and knowing that they can do little and knowing that they can do little and knowing that they can do little things like that to be able to things like that to be able to things like that to be able to uh to serve others around the world so uh to serve others around the world so uh to serve others around the world so we started looking at what is that we started looking at what is that we started looking at what is that how can we do something like that we're how can we do something like that we're how can we do something like that we're still they can still have still they can still have still they can still have not the same experience but be able to not the same experience but be able to not the same experience but be able to have a similar experience that still has

have a similar experience that still has have a similar experience that still has the same impact the same impact the same impact kind of thing so instead of having it kind of thing so instead of having it kind of thing so instead of having it one day one day one day at one location we've actually decided at one location we've actually decided at one location we've actually decided um kind of the plan that we're doing now um kind of the plan that we're doing now um kind of the plan that we're doing now is we have it we're actually doing at is we have it we're actually doing at is we have it we're actually doing at two of our campuses two of our campuses two of our campuses now um so two of our campuses spread out now um so two of our campuses spread out now um so two of our campuses spread out over seven days over seven days over seven days so um so in multiple shifts so um so in multiple shifts so um so in multiple shifts where people can be socially distanced where people can be socially distanced where people can be socially distanced and spread out and spread out and spread out obviously we'll have certain obviously we'll have certain obviously we'll have certain requirements people wearing masks and requirements people wearing masks and requirements people wearing masks and stuff like that stuff like that stuff like that um just be uh so um just be uh so um just be uh so all those social distance protocols and all those social distance protocols and all those social distance protocols and everything with uh covet protocols so everything with uh covet protocols so everything with uh covet protocols so um but we're we're excited because um but we're we're excited because um but we're we're excited because we're hoping this will this will help we're hoping this will this will help we're hoping this will this will help kind of kind of kind of stir people kind of get them up off the stir people kind of get them up off the stir people kind of get them up off the couch and couch and couch and back into serving and kind of realize back into serving and kind of realize back into serving and kind of realize okay i okay i okay i it's okay to be around people and just it's okay to be around people and just it's okay to be around people and just to be cautious and everything and to be cautious and everything and to be cautious and everything and obviously if you're obviously if you're obviously if you're if you're immunodeficient or whatever if you're immunodeficient or whatever if you're immunodeficient or whatever obviously that's not obviously that's not obviously that's not not right for you but for those of you not right for you but for those of you not right for you but for those of you that are healthy and that are healthy and that are healthy and and capable like come on let's go let's and capable like come on let's go let's and capable like come on let's go let's do this kind of thing do this kind of thing do this kind of thing like this is this is an opportunity that like this is this is an opportunity that like this is this is an opportunity that we can still move the mission forward we can still move the mission forward we can still move the mission forward just because just because just because a lot of things have shut down does not a lot of things have shut down does not a lot of things have shut down does not mean that the mission has mean that the mission has mean that the mission has has stopped at all we need to continue has stopped at all we need to continue has stopped at all we need to continue moving forward moving forward moving forward so yeah you know it's it's almost you're so yeah you know it's it's almost you're so yeah you know it's it's almost you're practicing community again practicing community again practicing community again that's what comes to my mind when you

that's what comes to my mind when you that's what comes to my mind when you said that it's it's we've gotten so said that it's it's we've gotten so said that it's it's we've gotten so comfortable comfortable comfortable we're working from home or we're doing we're working from home or we're doing we're working from home or we're doing we're just kind of isolated and we're just kind of isolated and we're just kind of isolated and and we've fallen out of the idea of and we've fallen out of the idea of and we've fallen out of the idea of surrounding ourselves with community surrounding ourselves with community surrounding ourselves with community which we understand from a which we understand from a which we understand from a biblical perspective that's what god biblical perspective that's what god biblical perspective that's what god intended to do like intended to do like intended to do like together and and to serve others to be together and and to serve others to be together and and to serve others to be the hands and feet of jesus and the hands and feet of jesus and the hands and feet of jesus and and and do it because we love him um and and and do it because we love him um and and and do it because we love him um and so i think so i think so i think you know for this is a great example of you know for this is a great example of you know for this is a great example of a church you guys a church you guys a church you guys giving your people and others in the giving your people and others in the giving your people and others in the community an opportunity to community an opportunity to community an opportunity to practice community again in a safe practice community again in a safe practice community again in a safe environment safe regional and but i environment safe regional and but i environment safe regional and but i think think think churches have to be in i think this is churches have to be in i think this is churches have to be in i think this is the next season is we've got to be the next season is we've got to be the next season is we've got to be really intentional about really intentional about really intentional about causing our people to to get engaged causing our people to to get engaged causing our people to to get engaged again and if you don't again and if you don't again and if you don't offer those kind of outlets to your offer those kind of outlets to your offer those kind of outlets to your point point point you're not going to get that result and you're not going to get that result and you're not going to get that result and so um so um so um and you can't do it the way you used to and you can't do it the way you used to and you can't do it the way you used to do it we get that do it we get that do it we get that but what a great way to just to serve but what a great way to just to serve but what a great way to just to serve tons of kids in another tons of kids in another tons of kids in another a country that desperately needs it and a country that desperately needs it and a country that desperately needs it and to serve our own people who desperately to serve our own people who desperately to serve our own people who desperately need to serve need to serve need to serve you know it's kind of a cool that's a you know it's kind of a cool that's a you know it's kind of a cool that's a cool win cool win cool win and something that every church should and something that every church should and something that every church should figure out how to do and i know it's a figure out how to do and i know it's a figure out how to do and i know it's a lot more work lot more work lot more work oh yes it takes a lot more work yeah the oh yes it takes a lot more work yeah the oh yes it takes a lot more work yeah the easy route would be just to easy route would be just to easy route would be just to write the check and send the money so write the check and send the money so write the check and send the money so that's but that yeah that's but that yeah that's but that yeah yeah and and the same result would yeah and and the same result would yeah and and the same result would happen kids get fed

i think we need to be very intentional i think we need to be very intentional about engaging the people that go to our about engaging the people that go to our about engaging the people that go to our church church church to get them back into church one of the to get them back into church one of the to get them back into church one of the best ways to do that would be best ways to do that would be best ways to do that would be have some kind of an event where it's have some kind of an event where it's have some kind of an event where it's serving the community or serving serving the community or serving serving the community or serving people from another part of the world people from another part of the world people from another part of the world like like compass is doing like like compass is doing like like compass is doing to get everybody back together and to to get everybody back together and to to get everybody back together and to serve serve serve practice community and i think that's practice community and i think that's practice community and i think that's really really really important that we are intentional about important that we are intentional about important that we are intentional about that not only that i think we need to that not only that i think we need to that not only that i think we need to communicate and communicate and communicate and advertise and promote that not only advertise and promote that not only advertise and promote that not only within our congregation within our congregation within our congregation but outside our congregation another but outside our congregation another but outside our congregation another couple ideas that come to my mind that couple ideas that come to my mind that couple ideas that come to my mind that i've i've i've seen other churches do is you know one seen other churches do is you know one seen other churches do is you know one time time time a month they're doing a like a family a month they're doing a like a family a month they're doing a like a family day day day on campus uh after the sunday service on campus uh after the sunday service on campus uh after the sunday service where they're where they're where they're getting together and they're maybe it's getting together and they're maybe it's getting together and they're maybe it's a kids thing they're gonna have bounce a kids thing they're gonna have bounce a kids thing they're gonna have bounce houses or maybe it's a houses or maybe it's a houses or maybe it's a like a barbecue they're gonna do or some like a barbecue they're gonna do or some like a barbecue they're gonna do or some live worship and just kind of hang out live worship and just kind of hang out live worship and just kind of hang out together together together um so come to church on that sunday and um so come to church on that sunday and um so come to church on that sunday and then stay then stay then stay for some community afterward and uh for some community afterward and uh for some community afterward and uh not not only do we need to think about not not only do we need to think about not not only do we need to think about those things we need to promote it those things we need to promote it those things we need to promote it i know that this coming christmas season i know that this coming christmas season i know that this coming christmas season at missional marketing we're intentional at missional marketing we're intentional at missional marketing we're intentional about helping you understand that about helping you understand that about helping you understand that now this year in particular you have to now this year in particular you have to now this year in particular you have to advertise to your own congregation advertise to your own congregation advertise to your own congregation to get them off the couch so to speak to get them off the couch so to speak to get them off the couch so to speak and get them dressed up and get them dressed up and get them dressed up and get the kids ready and come to and get the kids ready and come to and get the kids ready and come to church and church and church and one of the ways you can do that one of the ways you can do that one of the ways you can do that obviously was christmas with christmas

obviously was christmas with christmas obviously was christmas with christmas eve eve eve fast approaching it seems like it's a fast approaching it seems like it's a fast approaching it seems like it's a long way away but it'll be here before long way away but it'll be here before long way away but it'll be here before we know it we know it we know it one way to do that is to invite your own one way to do that is to invite your own one way to do that is to invite your own congregation congregation congregation as well as people outside your church as well as people outside your church as well as people outside your church walls and walls and walls and and i think you got to be intentional and i think you got to be intentional and i think you got to be intentional about having those events about having those events about having those events i think a fall festival is a great i think a fall festival is a great i think a fall festival is a great opportunity opportunity opportunity it's very likely that a local government it's very likely that a local government it's very likely that a local government or a city or town they're going to shut or a city or town they're going to shut or a city or town they're going to shut down halloween perhaps down halloween perhaps down halloween perhaps so these kids need to have an outlet to so these kids need to have an outlet to so these kids need to have an outlet to go trick-or-treating go trick-or-treating go trick-or-treating so do a fall festival uh trunk or treat so do a fall festival uh trunk or treat so do a fall festival uh trunk or treat type of thing in your parking lot type of thing in your parking lot type of thing in your parking lot and and make it fun parents will love and and make it fun parents will love and and make it fun parents will love that and promote and advertise that to that and promote and advertise that to that and promote and advertise that to your people your people your people and people around and around in your and people around and around in your and people around and around in your community community community when it comes to thanksgiving maybe it's when it comes to thanksgiving maybe it's when it comes to thanksgiving maybe it's a way to a way to a way to serve other families right so have a serve other families right so have a serve other families right so have a drive where you're going to come drive where you're going to come drive where you're going to come together and bring together and bring together and bring food to bless other people christmas in food to bless other people christmas in food to bless other people christmas in december that's that's kind of easy december that's that's kind of easy december that's that's kind of easy and then think about the new year and then think about the new year and then think about the new year there's all kinds of things that you there's all kinds of things that you there's all kinds of things that you could be doing could be doing could be doing to bring people back together i think we to bring people back together i think we to bring people back together i think we got to be intentional about got to be intentional about got to be intentional about promoting things so that it gets we get promoting things so that it gets we get promoting things so that it gets we get back in the habit back in the habit back in the habit of doing church again and um of doing church again and um of doing church again and um great opportunity for you church you can great opportunity for you church you can great opportunity for you church you can change the way you're doing it just like change the way you're doing it just like change the way you're doing it just like compass is doing it you don't have to compass is doing it you don't have to compass is doing it you don't have to do the things you used to before covid do the things you used to before covid do the things you used to before covid think of things to do think of things to do think of things to do in the future and what does that look in the future and what does that look in the future and what does that look like great opportunity to kind of kill like great opportunity to kind of kill like great opportunity to kind of kill those sacred cows that you just don't
