book called why men hate going to church book called why men hate going to church and then that book kind of rocketed me and then that book kind of rocketed me and then that book kind of rocketed me into the upper tier of christian authors into the upper tier of christian authors into the upper tier of christian authors and i've been writing ever since and i've been writing ever since and i've been writing ever since but in the last few years especially in but in the last few years especially in but in the last few years especially in the wake of the pandemic i have realized the wake of the pandemic i have realized the wake of the pandemic i have realized that many pastors are failing to reach that many pastors are failing to reach that many pastors are failing to reach their online audiences they're working their online audiences they're working their online audiences they're working very hard to post their sermons online very hard to post their sermons online very hard to post their sermons online and they did heroic work during the and they did heroic work during the and they did heroic work during the pandemic pandemic pandemic to get online but they are still using to get online but they are still using to get online but they are still using the same techniques that they always the same techniques that they always the same techniques that they always used when they had the attention used when they had the attention used when they had the attention monopoly when they had people monopoly when they had people monopoly when they had people essentially zip tied to their chairs and essentially zip tied to their chairs and essentially zip tied to their chairs and couldn't move couldn't move couldn't move and so and so and so they're doing the same you know slow they're doing the same you know slow they're doing the same you know slow intros the same 40 45 minute monologue intros the same 40 45 minute monologue intros the same 40 45 minute monologue talks no visuals and you know i'm talks no visuals and you know i'm talks no visuals and you know i'm sitting there i'm i'm a i'm a 35 38 sitting there i'm i'm a i'm a 35 38 sitting there i'm i'm a i'm a 35 38 years in the television business years in the television business years in the television business and so i know and so i know and so i know you know this works fine in the room you know this works fine in the room you know this works fine in the room kinda but this is not gonna work in the kinda but this is not gonna work in the kinda but this is not gonna work in the screen world you know you no longer have screen world you know you no longer have screen world you know you no longer have an attention monopoly pastor you are now an attention monopoly pastor you are now an attention monopoly pastor you are now a part of the attention economy and you a part of the attention economy and you a part of the attention economy and you have to compete for attention you have to compete for attention you have to compete for attention you pastors have never had to do this and pastors have never had to do this and pastors have never had to do this and they're ill-equipped to do so so my job they're ill-equipped to do so so my job they're ill-equipped to do so so my job is to go in and help pastors uh make is to go in and help pastors uh make is to go in and help pastors uh make their sermons more watchable memorable their sermons more watchable memorable their sermons more watchable memorable and shareable and shareable and shareable wow okay holy there's a lot to unpack wow okay holy there's a lot to unpack wow okay holy there's a lot to unpack here right now so here right now so here right now so i this is what i'm passionate about i this is what i'm passionate about i this is what i'm passionate about because you are so right even if we you because you are so right even if we you because you are so right even if we you know some churches will say we we wish know some churches will say we we wish know some churches will say we we wish it was like the old days right before it was like the old days right before it was like the old days right before covent i'm going wait a minute you want covent i'm going wait a minute you want covent i'm going wait a minute you want to go back to to go back to to go back to the normal person attending 1.5 times a the normal person attending 1.5 times a the normal person attending 1.5 times a month you called that success you know month you called that success you know month you called that success you know and so you got them online to start
