is casting vision for the sermon series is casting vision for the sermon series he's identifying the text and the themes he's identifying the text and the themes he's identifying the text and the themes for each Sunday and each season and then for each Sunday and each season and then for each Sunday and each season and then we have one person who is tasked to we have one person who is tasked to we have one person who is tasked to mobilize each team to help support the mobilize each team to help support the mobilize each team to help support the message of the sermon and therefore the message of the sermon and therefore the message of the sermon and therefore the story of the service and so we strive uh story of the service and so we strive uh story of the service and so we strive uh for there to be layers and element ments for there to be layers and element ments for there to be layers and element ments uh that contribute uh support and expand uh that contribute uh support and expand uh that contribute uh support and expand the message of the sermon we want the message of the sermon we want the message of the sermon we want everything to be working together and so everything to be working together and so everything to be working together and so this enables the potential for alignment this enables the potential for alignment this enables the potential for alignment between the creative teams and the between the creative teams and the between the creative teams and the preaching team the teaching pastors and preaching team the teaching pastors and preaching team the teaching pastors and the senior pastor uh here at Providence the senior pastor uh here at Providence the senior pastor uh here at Providence I'm sure at your church they're super I'm sure at your church they're super I'm sure at your church they're super busy and they're not living in Planning busy and they're not living in Planning busy and they're not living in Planning Center uh just moving those little Center uh just moving those little Center uh just moving those little pieces around in The Matrix View and pieces around in The Matrix View and pieces around in The Matrix View and getting every all the details together getting every all the details together getting every all the details together and so this structure simply simplifies and so this structure simply simplifies and so this structure simply simplifies the communication channels between the the communication channels between the the communication channels between the one ultimately owning the message of the one ultimately owning the message of the one ultimately owning the message of the service and those executing the other service and those executing the other service and those executing the other elements that support the story of the elements that support the story of the elements that support the story of the morning or the Sunday service so we have morning or the Sunday service so we have morning or the Sunday service so we have to remember that everything communicates to remember that everything communicates to remember that everything communicates something so it's reasonable to have something so it's reasonable to have something so it's reasonable to have your communication teams uh contributing your communication teams uh contributing your communication teams uh contributing to the messaging of the Sunday service to the messaging of the Sunday service to the messaging of the Sunday service whether that's in your MC or host whether that's in your MC or host whether that's in your MC or host moments or through your announcements uh moments or through your announcements uh moments or through your announcements uh but I understand we don't want our but I understand we don't want our but I understand we don't want our worship services to feel like a giant worship services to feel like a giant worship services to feel like a giant commercial uh we also the same reason we commercial uh we also the same reason we commercial uh we also the same reason we don't want our worship uh to be taking don't want our worship uh to be taking don't want our worship uh to be taking over everything about the service over everything about the service over everything about the service because then we might have three 15

because then we might have three 15 because then we might have three 15 minute songs every Sunday and that's minute songs every Sunday and that's minute songs every Sunday and that's just not going to really work uh right just not going to really work uh right just not going to really work uh right now in the way that our church services now in the way that our church services now in the way that our church services are really going and so there is an are really going and so there is an are really going and so there is an economy of time that's at play for your economy of time that's at play for your economy of time that's at play for your service and especially for me we feel service and especially for me we feel service and especially for me we feel that a lot there's so much going on we that a lot there's so much going on we that a lot there's so much going on we have we have to be very strategic with have we have to be very strategic with have we have to be very strategic with how we align and set up all of our time how we align and set up all of our time how we align and set up all of our time and so this increased collaboration and so this increased collaboration and so this increased collaboration between owners is really really really between owners is really really really between owners is really really really really critical and uh we work we work really critical and uh we work we work really critical and uh we work we work hard at that and it's a balance there hard at that and it's a balance there hard at that and it's a balance there it's not right or wrong uh it's a it's not right or wrong uh it's a it's not right or wrong uh it's a tension that we try to manage um rather tension that we try to manage um rather tension that we try to manage um rather than a problem that we try to fix okay than a problem that we try to fix okay than a problem that we try to fix okay and so also creative collaboration and so also creative collaboration and so also creative collaboration requires some requires some requires some margin okay so for us at Providence this margin okay so for us at Providence this margin okay so for us at Providence this margin that we chase down for Creative margin that we chase down for Creative margin that we chase down for Creative collaboration includes margin with our collaboration includes margin with our collaboration includes margin with our time we have to plan much earlier it time we have to plan much earlier it time we have to plan much earlier it takes a lot more time to get everything takes a lot more time to get everything takes a lot more time to get everything together it also takes some margin together it also takes some margin together it also takes some margin within your staff you need to have uh within your staff you need to have uh within your staff you need to have uh some space uh with the right people at some space uh with the right people at some space uh with the right people at the right time uh to brainstorm to do the right time uh to brainstorm to do the right time uh to brainstorm to do the inventing to do uh to do all the the inventing to do uh to do all the the inventing to do uh to do all the creative collaboration that's really creative collaboration that's really creative collaboration that's really necessary to bring all these pieces necessary to bring all these pieces necessary to bring all these pieces together so you need margin of time you together so you need margin of time you together so you need margin of time you need a margin of Staff but then you also need a margin of Staff but then you also need a margin of Staff but then you also need to have margin to mobilize your need to have margin to mobilize your need to have margin to mobilize your leaders uh and volunteers um variety is leaders uh and volunteers um variety is leaders uh and volunteers um variety is actually really hard for your volunteers actually really hard for your volunteers actually really hard for your volunteers often we can oversimplify the volunteer

often we can oversimplify the volunteer often we can oversimplify the volunteer opportunity in order to onboard as many opportunity in order to onboard as many opportunity in order to onboard as many people as possible and sometimes that people as possible and sometimes that people as possible and sometimes that actually backfires when we need them to actually backfires when we need them to actually backfires when we need them to serve in a way that wasn't a part of the serve in a way that wasn't a part of the serve in a way that wasn't a part of the original ask so let me encourage you and original ask so let me encourage you and original ask so let me encourage you and some as I think about this question and some as I think about this question and some as I think about this question and What's led to some success that we've What's led to some success that we've What's led to some success that we've had here at Providence and some had here at Providence and some had here at Providence and some sustainable rhythms it's looked like sustainable rhythms it's looked like sustainable rhythms it's looked like just finding some margin with our time just finding some margin with our time just finding some margin with our time with the right owners and the right with the right owners and the right with the right owners and the right people um it's with finding some margin people um it's with finding some margin people um it's with finding some margin with our staff uh sometimes you might with our staff uh sometimes you might with our staff uh sometimes you might need to move some staff pieces around in need to move some staff pieces around in need to move some staff pieces around in order to make this happen and then order to make this happen and then order to make this happen and then you've got to have enough time to to you've got to have enough time to to you've got to have enough time to to mobilize your leaders and your mobilize your leaders and your mobilize your leaders and your volunteers and so um he Tristan also volunteers and so um he Tristan also volunteers and so um he Tristan also asked about structures that he asked about structures that he asked about structures that he that have not worked well and I think that have not worked well and I think that have not worked well and I think structures that I've seen struggle um structures that I've seen struggle um structures that I've seen struggle um happens when teams are siloed we've all happens when teams are siloed we've all happens when teams are siloed we've all know about that we've all seen that know about that we've all seen that know about that we've all seen that happen um when there isn't a clear owner happen um when there isn't a clear owner happen um when there isn't a clear owner uh of the service uh when there are last uh of the service uh when there are last uh of the service uh when there are last minute changes without taking into minute changes without taking into minute changes without taking into account uh the steps that it's going to account uh the steps that it's going to account uh the steps that it's going to take to pull it off uh that creates a take to pull it off uh that creates a take to pull it off uh that creates a problem so if your teaching team doesn't problem so if your teaching team doesn't problem so if your teaching team doesn't know what they're asking out of the know what they're asking out of the know what they're asking out of the worship team or your communication team worship team or your communication team worship team or your communication team doesn't know doesn't know doesn't know how what they're asking for out of the how what they're asking for out of the how what they're asking for out of the pastor or vice versa it can create it pastor or vice versa it can create it pastor or vice versa it can create it can create some real problems uh just can create some real problems uh just can create some real problems uh just trying to keep your people mobilized and trying to keep your people mobilized and trying to keep your people mobilized and moving and so lead teams need to be moving and so lead teams need to be moving and so lead teams need to be familiar enough with the creative teams familiar enough with the creative teams familiar enough with the creative teams so that when they ask for something they
