prompt and I was bringing up to Bart prompt and I was bringing up to Bart I've been thinking a lot about how can I've been thinking a lot about how can I've been thinking a lot about how can we help people even know what to do with we help people even know what to do with we help people even know what to do with that prompt like if you're trying to do that prompt like if you're trying to do that prompt like if you're trying to do a task how do you speak the language so a task how do you speak the language so a task how do you speak the language so that you get a really good response um that you get a really good response um that you get a really good response um versus a very unhelpful response versus a very unhelpful response versus a very unhelpful response okay that's a really good question I I okay that's a really good question I I okay that's a really good question I I had the opportunity to um to uh do a had the opportunity to um to uh do a had the opportunity to um to uh do a little webinar week or two ago uh with a little webinar week or two ago uh with a little webinar week or two ago uh with a group of churches um and and basically I group of churches um and and basically I group of churches um and and basically I was kind of walking them through uh was kind of walking them through uh was kind of walking them through uh different ways to write or create different ways to write or create different ways to write or create prompts I think that that's one of the prompts I think that that's one of the prompts I think that that's one of the sources of frustration that a lot of sources of frustration that a lot of sources of frustration that a lot of people have when they've had experience people have when they've had experience people have when they've had experience with chat GPT or gemini or Claude or any with chat GPT or gemini or Claude or any with chat GPT or gemini or Claude or any of these large language model chatbots of these large language model chatbots of these large language model chatbots they sometimes are frustrated because they sometimes are frustrated because they sometimes are frustrated because they don't get from the machine what they don't get from the machine what they don't get from the machine what they were hoping or it's not usable or they were hoping or it's not usable or they were hoping or it's not usable or even worse it really isn't usable but even worse it really isn't usable but even worse it really isn't usable but they still use it and that's something they still use it and that's something they still use it and that's something that is always it's for those of us who that is always it's for those of us who that is always it's for those of us who spend a lot of time in AI man I I I see spend a lot of time in AI man I I I see spend a lot of time in AI man I I I see the AI writing from a mile away uh I've the AI writing from a mile away uh I've the AI writing from a mile away uh I've got a a friend who uh posts content on got a a friend who uh posts content on got a a friend who uh posts content on LinkedIn almost every day and I can tell LinkedIn almost every day and I can tell LinkedIn almost every day and I can tell by the way that it's written that it was by the way that it's written that it was by the way that it's written that it was written by chat GPT uh it's like it's written by chat GPT uh it's like it's written by chat GPT uh it's like it's just super obvious and so I think that just super obvious and so I think that just super obvious and so I think that there are some way ways to better get there are some way ways to better get there are some way ways to better get the results that you're looking for also the results that you're looking for also the results that you're looking for also get results that are closer to being a get results that are closer to being a get results that are closer to being a product that you can use uh I'm always a product that you can use uh I'm always a product that you can use uh I'm always a little bit cautious about the whole copy little bit cautious about the whole copy little bit cautious about the whole copy and paste and use it as it you know

especially from the church fathers and especially from the church fathers and so forth and of course the Bible itself so forth and of course the Bible itself so forth and of course the Bible itself and ever since then we've been trying to and ever since then we've been trying to and ever since then we've been trying to expand that Corpus to include uh more expand that Corpus to include uh more expand that Corpus to include uh more contemporary apologetics Works um with contemporary apologetics Works um with contemporary apologetics Works um with permission of course from from the permission of course from from the permission of course from from the authors um and the idea is that a user authors um and the idea is that a user authors um and the idea is that a user can come on to apologist. a and ask any can come on to apologist. a and ask any can come on to apologist. a and ask any question about God Jesus or the Bible question about God Jesus or the Bible question about God Jesus or the Bible and get a pretty good quick answer and get a pretty good quick answer and get a pretty good quick answer that's far superior to you know that's far superior to you know that's far superior to you know searching Google and waiting through you searching Google and waiting through you searching Google and waiting through you know thousands of results some of which know thousands of results some of which know thousands of results some of which are from a Christian perspective and are from a Christian perspective and are from a Christian perspective and some of them some of them some of them SM yeah that's very cool and that's live SM yeah that's very cool and that's live SM yeah that's very cool and that's live now that is Live Now Yep very cool so now that is Live Now Yep very cool so now that is Live Now Yep very cool so yeah so you should definitely go on yeah so you should definitely go on yeah so you should definitely go on apologist. and check it out uh so um apologist. and check it out uh so um apologist. and check it out uh so um that's been live for a while now how that's been live for a while now how that's been live for a while now how have you seen it be used thus far yeah have you seen it be used thus far yeah have you seen it be used thus far yeah so um really interesting stories that so um really interesting stories that so um really interesting stories that we've that we've come up with so first we've that we've come up with so first we've that we've come up with so first of all we're logging every question of all we're logging every question of all we're logging every question response so that we can uh you know uh response so that we can uh you know uh response so that we can uh you know uh that'll inform the training of the of that'll inform the training of the of that'll inform the training of the of our model moving forward um and so we our model moving forward um and so we our model moving forward um and so we get uh once in a while we'll get a get uh once in a while we'll get a get uh once in a while we'll get a message from just a a random user in message from just a a random user in message from just a a random user in fact uh one of the ones that I highlight fact uh one of the ones that I highlight fact uh one of the ones that I highlight frequently is we got a message from a frequently is we got a message from a frequently is we got a message from a guy named uh yurkin from guy named uh yurkin from guy named uh yurkin from Kazakhstan um and he reached out and Kazakhstan um and he reached out and Kazakhstan um and he reached out and just said hey I'm I'm a student of uh just said hey I'm I'm a student of uh just said hey I'm I'm a student of uh comparative religions people in my comparative religions people in my comparative religions people in my community are asking questions about community are asking questions about community are asking questions about Christianity and I don't know what to Christianity and I don't know what to Christianity and I don't know what to tell them um can you help me and I was tell them um can you help me and I was tell them um can you help me and I was like yeah like use use our bot and and

like yeah like use use our bot and and like yeah like use use our bot and and like he used it and um he was able to like he used it and um he was able to like he used it and um he was able to you know quickly learn um what he needed you know quickly learn um what he needed you know quickly learn um what he needed you know quickly input the questions you know quickly input the questions you know quickly input the questions that he had or other people were having that he had or other people were having that he had or other people were having and get answers from a from a Biblical and get answers from a from a Biblical and get answers from a from a Biblical perspective so it's it's been really perspective so it's it's been really perspective so it's it's been really useful it's been really great to see the useful it's been really great to see the useful it's been really great to see the reach that it's had already yeah that's reach that it's had already yeah that's reach that it's had already yeah that's very cool and so uh um Jake and I were very cool and so uh um Jake and I were very cool and so uh um Jake and I were both at the AI hackathon together and both at the AI hackathon together and both at the AI hackathon together and Jake presented a really cool use of Jake presented a really cool use of Jake presented a really cool use of their apologist project you sure about their apologist project you sure about their apologist project you sure about about that yeah absolutely so one of the about that yeah absolutely so one of the about that yeah absolutely so one of the things that we found um is that it's things that we found um is that it's things that we found um is that it's it's somewhat difficult to have a very it's somewhat difficult to have a very it's somewhat difficult to have a very generalized model that that answers generalized model that that answers generalized model that that answers people without context of where they're people without context of where they're people without context of where they're coming from and so um just just to give coming from and so um just just to give coming from and so um just just to give you a little bit of background here so you a little bit of background here so you a little bit of background here so um I through some serendipitous um I through some serendipitous um I through some serendipitous circumstances met with um a um a circumstances met with um a um a circumstances met with um a um a missionary who serves in a Muslim missionary who serves in a Muslim missionary who serves in a Muslim majority country I don't want to give majority country I don't want to give majority country I don't want to give too much away because it's a sensitive too much away because it's a sensitive too much away because it's a sensitive situation but um he gave me the feedback situation but um he gave me the feedback situation but um he gave me the feedback like hey you have an apologetic spot like hey you have an apologetic spot like hey you have an apologetic spot that that gives the users good biblical that that gives the users good biblical that that gives the users good biblical answers however uh the responses that it answers however uh the responses that it answers however uh the responses that it gives aren't appealing to the users's uh gives aren't appealing to the users's uh gives aren't appealing to the users's uh owns a source of authority that they owns a source of authority that they owns a source of authority that they would find authoritative right so in would find authoritative right so in would find authoritative right so in other words uh yeah telling me for other words uh yeah telling me for other words uh yeah telling me for example since I'm a Christian telling me example since I'm a Christian telling me example since I'm a Christian telling me like what the Quran says about about you like what the Quran says about about you like what the Quran says about about you know Jesus I'm just going to be like know Jesus I'm just going to be like know Jesus I'm just going to be like okay yeah but the Quran is is something okay yeah but the Quran is is something okay yeah but the Quran is is something I don't believe in so therefore I don't I don't believe in so therefore I don't I don't believe in so therefore I don't I don't care right but in the case of

I don't care right but in the case of I don't care right but in the case of say a a Muslim what they would find say a a Muslim what they would find say a a Muslim what they would find authoritative would be the cran and so authoritative would be the cran and so authoritative would be the cran and so an answer that first uses their source an answer that first uses their source an answer that first uses their source of authority that they agree with um and of authority that they agree with um and of authority that they agree with um and then pulling the user back to truths then pulling the user back to truths then pulling the user back to truths about Christianity based on that initial about Christianity based on that initial about Christianity based on that initial kind of authoritative Source or in some kind of authoritative Source or in some kind of authoritative Source or in some cases showing gaps in maybe their cases showing gaps in maybe their cases showing gaps in maybe their authoritative source as opposed to a authoritative source as opposed to a authoritative source as opposed to a Christian model is a much more effective Christian model is a much more effective Christian model is a much more effective way to engage with them and so what we way to engage with them and so what we way to engage with them and so what we did for this year's glue hackathon is we did for this year's glue hackathon is we did for this year's glue hackathon is we focused in on um the the Muslim focused in on um the the Muslim focused in on um the the Muslim Community um and we put some stats up Community um and we put some stats up Community um and we put some stats up there like um it's um Islam is the there like um it's um Islam is the there like um it's um Islam is the fastest growing religion um and if if fastest growing religion um and if if fastest growing religion um and if if the current Trend continues then through the current Trend continues then through the current Trend continues then through a higher birth rate than Christian a higher birth rate than Christian a higher birth rate than Christian households uh Islam Islam will become households uh Islam Islam will become households uh Islam Islam will become the the dominant religion by the end of the the dominant religion by the end of the the dominant religion by the end of the century and so we thought that would the century and so we thought that would the century and so we thought that would be a really good uh thing to tackle be a really good uh thing to tackle be a really good uh thing to tackle right out of the gate because of just right out of the gate because of just right out of the gate because of just the the the amount of of uh folks who the the the amount of of uh folks who the the the amount of of uh folks who are who are of the buzzl and persuasion are who are of the buzzl and persuasion are who are of the buzzl and persuasion and so what we did then is we through and so what we did then is we through and so what we did then is we through prompt engineering created a custom prompt engineering created a custom prompt engineering created a custom version of our chatbot that specifically version of our chatbot that specifically version of our chatbot that specifically was instructed to appeal to quranic was instructed to appeal to quranic was instructed to appeal to quranic verses and then tie those back to uh to verses and then tie those back to uh to verses and then tie those back to uh to Biblical verses and then teach Christian Biblical verses and then teach Christian Biblical verses and then teach Christian truth based on that connection for the truth based on that connection for the truth based on that connection for the user and so um not only did we uh create user and so um not only did we uh create user and so um not only did we uh create the system prompt for that to happen but the system prompt for that to happen but the system prompt for that to happen but we also curated a a group of of um we also curated a a group of of um we also curated a a group of of um articles and and and books and so forth articles and and and books and so forth articles and and and books and so forth that were specifically from uh Muslim

that were specifically from uh Muslim that were specifically from uh Muslim serving Ministries um all with serving Ministries um all with serving Ministries um all with permission of course and so we partnered permission of course and so we partnered permission of course and so we partnered with several um Ministry Partners ac with several um Ministry Partners ac with several um Ministry Partners ac across the world um that that had that across the world um that that had that across the world um that that had that particular worldview in mind and then particular worldview in mind and then particular worldview in mind and then that formed the Corpus um from which the that formed the Corpus um from which the that formed the Corpus um from which the chatbot would draw from in its chatbot would draw from in its chatbot would draw from in its responses that is very cool and yeah responses that is very cool and yeah responses that is very cool and yeah that's a very cool thing so I I hope that's a very cool thing so I I hope that's a very cool thing so I I hope everyone understands you know when everyone understands you know when everyone understands you know when they're they're saying that they're they're saying that they're they're saying that what you said there is that a chatbot what you said there is that a chatbot what you said there is that a chatbot that was an apologetics chatbot built that was an apologetics chatbot built that was an apologetics chatbot built specifically for individuals from a specifically for individuals from a specifically for individuals from a Muslim background who can are is trained Muslim background who can are is trained Muslim background who can are is trained specifically to give uh biblically specifically to give uh biblically specifically to give uh biblically accurate responses in a accurate responses in a accurate responses in a contextually helpful way exactly which contextually helpful way exactly which contextually helpful way exactly which is amazing now okay is amazing now okay is amazing now okay so whenever on on our podcast you we so whenever on on our podcast you we so whenever on on our podcast you we have these conversations about what can have these conversations about what can have these conversations about what can AI do what can't it do where's the line AI do what can't it do where's the line AI do what can't it do where's the line and it's one of those things where you and it's one of those things where you and it's one of those things where you know let's say six months ago we'd say know let's say six months ago we'd say know let's say six months ago we'd say oh the line is over here it oh it can't oh the line is over here it oh it can't oh the line is over here it oh it can't do any of these things and I find I find do any of these things and I find I find do any of these things and I find I find that over time that line begins to shift that over time that line begins to shift that over time that line begins to shift a little bit yes now in the world of a little bit yes now in the world of a little bit yes now in the world of apologetics if I was going to play a apologetics if I was going to play a apologetics if I was going to play a devil's advocate and basically say Jake devil's advocate and basically say Jake devil's advocate and basically say Jake apologetics is only for humans it's apologetics is only for humans it's apologetics is only for humans it's meant to be human shares human and AI meant to be human shares human and AI meant to be human shares human and AI cannot effectively share the gospel

cannot effectively share the gospel cannot effectively share the gospel because it an AI is not imbued with the because it an AI is not imbued with the because it an AI is not imbued with the Holy Spirit and that is a spirit work Holy Spirit and that is a spirit work Holy Spirit and that is a spirit work and therefore uh how can this be a good and therefore uh how can this be a good and therefore uh how can this be a good thing what would you say to somebody and thing what would you say to somebody and thing what would you say to somebody and and again it may not be your listeners and again it may not be your listeners and again it may not be your listeners it might be the who our listeners are it might be the who our listeners are it might be the who our listeners are friends with and that's what they hear friends with and that's what they hear friends with and that's what they hear and so what would you say to somebody and so what would you say to somebody and so what would you say to somebody who who who struggles with this idea yeah um so struggles with this idea yeah um so struggles with this idea yeah um so first of all I have heard that before first of all I have heard that before first of all I have heard that before and and it's not an uncommon thing to and and it's not an uncommon thing to and and it's not an uncommon thing to encounter and what I would respond to encounter and what I would respond to encounter and what I would respond to and what I have responded with in the and what I have responded with in the and what I have responded with in the past is um if you take a step back to um past is um if you take a step back to um past is um if you take a step back to um technological advancements um throughout technological advancements um throughout technological advancements um throughout history um you could make the kind of history um you could make the kind of history um you could make the kind of the same argument for all of those like the same argument for all of those like the same argument for all of those like television you know you're not current television you know you're not current television you know you're not current present with the person and therefore present with the person and therefore present with the person and therefore you know there's some kind of distance you know there's some kind of distance you know there's some kind of distance between them and therefore uh and between them and therefore uh and between them and therefore uh and therefore you know that's not letting therefore you know that's not letting therefore you know that's not letting the Holy Spirit work or or some such the Holy Spirit work or or some such the Holy Spirit work or or some such right or or even like going back further right or or even like going back further right or or even like going back further um paper and ink right the the you know um paper and ink right the the you know um paper and ink right the the you know was Paul lazy or or or negligent to not was Paul lazy or or or negligent to not was Paul lazy or or or negligent to not walk all the way over to Philippi walk all the way over to Philippi walk all the way over to Philippi instead of writing a letter no so I instead of writing a letter no so I instead of writing a letter no so I think I think the the the key here is think I think the the the key here is think I think the the the key here is that human that human that human beings with the you know with um with beings with the you know with um with beings with the you know with um with Community with the Holy Spirit can write Community with the Holy Spirit can write Community with the Holy Spirit can write things right create content that are things right create content that are things right create content that are then um delivered to individuals in

then um delivered to individuals in then um delivered to individuals in various mediums right and so just a various mediums right and so just a various mediums right and so just a little bit about the way the chatbot little bit about the way the chatbot little bit about the way the chatbot Works um it's essentially a word Works um it's essentially a word Works um it's essentially a word calculator it uses probabil uh calculator it uses probabil uh calculator it uses probabil uh probabilistic mechanisms to to determine probabilistic mechanisms to to determine probabilistic mechanisms to to determine how to respond to an individual inquiry how to respond to an individual inquiry how to respond to an individual inquiry but the information it draws upon is but the information it draws upon is but the information it draws upon is what I've been talking about before like what I've been talking about before like what I've been talking about before like the Corpus of knowledge right so human the Corpus of knowledge right so human the Corpus of knowledge right so human beings wrote articles or books and the beings wrote articles or books and the beings wrote articles or books and the chatbot then synthesizes that chatbot then synthesizes that chatbot then synthesizes that information and tries to get the most information and tries to get the most information and tries to get the most probabilistic given that information the probabilistic given that information the probabilistic given that information the most probabilistic response to a user's most probabilistic response to a user's most probabilistic response to a user's inquiry so all we're really doing here inquiry so all we're really doing here inquiry so all we're really doing here is allowing technology to synthesize the is allowing technology to synthesize the is allowing technology to synthesize the good works that that human beings have good works that that human beings have good works that that human beings have have produced right um if you take a have produced right um if you take a have produced right um if you take a look at Google results for example well look at Google results for example well look at Google results for example well you know if you want to get technical you know if you want to get technical you know if you want to get technical those results have been uh curated via those results have been uh curated via those results have been uh curated via an algorithm that were written by human an algorithm that were written by human an algorithm that were written by human beings right and not only that but the beings right and not only that but the beings right and not only that but the content that uh end up in the results content that uh end up in the results content that uh end up in the results have also been written by human beings have also been written by human beings have also been written by human beings and so what I look at is I just say like and so what I look at is I just say like and so what I look at is I just say like look like this is just a faster way for look like this is just a faster way for look like this is just a faster way for us to synthesize information and give it us to synthesize information and give it us to synthesize information and give it to the user instead of them having to to the user instead of them having to to the user instead of them having to you know go to a library and search for you know go to a library and search for you know go to a library and search for all those things and then synthesize it all those things and then synthesize it all those things and then synthesize it themselves now there are dangers you themselves now there are dangers you themselves now there are dangers you know there's no there's no question know there's no there's no question know there's no there's no question about that right but um what I would say about that right but um what I would say about that right but um what I would say to to to those folks who are concerned to to to those folks who are concerned to to to those folks who are concerned about that and frankly I am too like I about that and frankly I am too like I about that and frankly I am too like I don't want to seem like I'm not don't want to seem like I'm not don't want to seem like I'm not concerned about it is that um we have a concerned about it is that um we have a concerned about it is that um we have a lot of guard rails in place you know for lot of guard rails in place you know for lot of guard rails in place you know for example we have that Corpus in which we example we have that Corpus in which we example we have that Corpus in which we instruct the chatbot to draw from rather
