but my background is in marketing but my background is in marketing um right out of college is kind of when um right out of college is kind of when um right out of college is kind of when social media was social media was social media was taken off for businesses and taken off for businesses and taken off for businesses and businesses were like oh shoot i i we businesses were like oh shoot i i we businesses were like oh shoot i i we need somebody to run this need somebody to run this need somebody to run this and they said well you're the youngest and they said well you're the youngest and they said well you're the youngest person in the room you probably know how person in the room you probably know how person in the room you probably know how to do this to do this to do this so you're our social media person and so you're our social media person and so you're our social media person and i'm like well guess i guess i know about i'm like well guess i guess i know about i'm like well guess i guess i know about it you know and so it you know and so it you know and so what i didn't know i was teaching myself what i didn't know i was teaching myself what i didn't know i was teaching myself as i went along but i started in as i went along but i started in as i went along but i started in promotions promotions promotions and online course education for and online course education for and online course education for the national office of high school the national office of high school the national office of high school sports like the ncaa but for high school sports like the ncaa but for high school sports like the ncaa but for high school i was there for a while and really have i was there for a while and really have i was there for a while and really have a heart for the marketplace and a heart for the marketplace and a heart for the marketplace and for what businesses are doing and being for what businesses are doing and being for what businesses are doing and being um just just a christian in the in that um just just a christian in the in that um just just a christian in the in that space i feel like there needs to be a space i feel like there needs to be a space i feel like there needs to be a representation there representation there representation there uh for christ but uh kind of was looking uh for christ but uh kind of was looking uh for christ but uh kind of was looking for a new position for a new position for a new position and our pastor said hey i hear you're and our pastor said hey i hear you're and our pastor said hey i hear you're looking for a job we've got one open looking for a job we've got one open looking for a job we've got one open my dad's a pastor my husband's a pastor my dad's a pastor my husband's a pastor my dad's a pastor my husband's a pastor i thought i thought i thought i'm never gonna work in the church so i'm never gonna work in the church so i'm never gonna work in the church so thanks for asking but i'll pass thanks for asking but i'll pass thanks for asking but i'll pass and one thing led to another and and one thing led to another and and one thing led to another and i started working in the church uh and i started working in the church uh and i started working in the church uh and it has actually been a really great mix it has actually been a really great mix it has actually been a really great mix of helping church you know the church of helping church you know the church of helping church you know the church that i was at that i was at that i was at understand how we can use these understand how we can use these understand how we can use these practical tools that people use practical tools that people use practical tools that people use in the marketplace in businesses in in the marketplace in businesses in in the marketplace in businesses in corporate places corporate places corporate places and use them and apply them in the and use them and apply them in the and use them and apply them in the church world

uh i went when i started i went year of uh i went when i started i went year of several years of not being several years of not being several years of not being in those meetings so my boss would hear in those meetings so my boss would hear in those meetings so my boss would hear it from our it from our it from our lead pastor and then he would filter lead pastor and then he would filter lead pastor and then he would filter that to me that to me that to me and it's always going to be a disconnect and it's always going to be a disconnect and it's always going to be a disconnect and until i got in the room and until i got in the room and until i got in the room with all the leaders and i was hearing with all the leaders and i was hearing with all the leaders and i was hearing from his mouth from his mouth from his mouth what he expected and others were what he expected and others were what he expected and others were speaking into that speaking into that speaking into that then it made my job a lot more clear then it made my job a lot more clear then it made my job a lot more clear i understood exactly what i needed to do i understood exactly what i needed to do i understood exactly what i needed to do how i was going to communicate things how i was going to communicate things how i was going to communicate things what we were going to do process-wise it what we were going to do process-wise it what we were going to do process-wise it made it a lot made it a lot made it a lot made a lot less made it a lot less like made a lot less made it a lot less like made a lot less made it a lot less like the elementary school telephone game the elementary school telephone game the elementary school telephone game right right right where everybody says something that where everybody says something that where everybody says something that finally gets to you you think you have finally gets to you you think you have finally gets to you you think you have the message but you don't really have the message but you don't really have the message but you don't really have the message the message the message yeah so that i mean that is so yeah so that i mean that is so yeah so that i mean that is so important and and to what you're important and and to what you're important and and to what you're when a crisis happens we don't have to when a crisis happens we don't have to when a crisis happens we don't have to be in a crisis mode be in a crisis mode be in a crisis mode we just have to we know exactly what to we just have to we know exactly what to we just have to we know exactly what to do and how to respond do and how to respond do and how to respond then the second thing you said there then the second thing you said there then the second thing you said there which i think was was really smart which i think was was really smart which i think was was really smart working with the ministries it's it's working with the ministries it's it's working with the ministries it's it's your their the communication director your their the communication director your their the communication director position position position is there to enhance what they're doing is there to enhance what they're doing is there to enhance what they're doing and help and help and help them be successful the job isn't to them be successful the job isn't to them be successful the job isn't to make their events successful it was not make their events successful it was not make their events successful it was not my job to make sure my job to make sure my job to make sure you had success it was my job to make you had success it was my job to make you had success it was my job to make sure you were propped up sure you were propped up sure you were propped up and could be successful i'm not going to and could be successful i'm not going to and could be successful i'm not going to save your event save your event save your event you're going to i'm going to equip you you're going to i'm going to equip you you're going to i'm going to equip you and when you have that relationship and and when you have that relationship and and when you have that relationship and you have those processes in place

minute little explanation of hey and by minute little explanation of hey and by the way the way the way this is why our our church hosts the this is why our our church hosts the this is why our our church hosts the easter egg hunt easter egg hunt easter egg hunt and then you just slip it in and um and then you just slip it in and um and then you just slip it in and um then you go on with your easter egg hunt then you go on with your easter egg hunt then you go on with your easter egg hunt but you don't need to necessarily but you don't need to necessarily but you don't need to necessarily advertise that advertise that advertise that and so that would be kind of like your and so that would be kind of like your and so that would be kind of like your tier one event tier one event tier one event uh and then your tier two two three you uh and then your tier two two three you uh and then your tier two two three you know different churches based upon know different churches based upon know different churches based upon how many activities that they do you how many activities that they do you how many activities that they do you know some people follow a simple church know some people follow a simple church know some people follow a simple church method or method or method or model it's gonna be a lot easier to have model it's gonna be a lot easier to have model it's gonna be a lot easier to have a tiered system if you're on a simple a tiered system if you're on a simple a tiered system if you're on a simple church church church model but then there's other churches model but then there's other churches model but then there's other churches that are like to have a lot that are like to have a lot that are like to have a lot going on all of the time and so i would going on all of the time and so i would going on all of the time and so i would say say say you know you're kind of your next tier you know you're kind of your next tier you know you're kind of your next tier isn't necessarily you're not talking isn't necessarily you're not talking isn't necessarily you're not talking about it in the weekend service about it in the weekend service about it in the weekend service but you might have it in uh your social but you might have it in uh your social but you might have it in uh your social media media media accounts you might have it um in an accounts you might have it um in an accounts you might have it um in an email or email or email or um targeted email groups right and then um targeted email groups right and then um targeted email groups right and then kind of the tier kind of the tier kind of the tier after that is your very specific ones after that is your very specific ones after that is your very specific ones this is my favorite one but the knitting this is my favorite one but the knitting this is my favorite one but the knitting club club club right there's not a whole lot of people right there's not a whole lot of people right there's not a whole lot of people that want to join the knitting club but that want to join the knitting club but that want to join the knitting club but your church might have one your church might have one your church might have one and that's a very targeted group of and that's a very targeted group of and that's a very targeted group of people you know people you know people you know honestly the best way to get other honestly the best way to get other honestly the best way to get other people to know about the knitting club people to know about the knitting club people to know about the knitting club is probably by word of mouth is probably by word of mouth is probably by word of mouth right because knitters know other people right because knitters know other people right because knitters know other people that knit um that knit um that knit um and so you have to look at the type of and so you have to look at the type of and so you have to look at the type of event that's happening event that's happening event that's happening and say what's the impact and say what's the impact and say what's the impact right so let's go back to the missions right so let's go back to the missions right so let's go back to the missions trip 30 people going on a mission strip trip 30 people going on a mission strip trip 30 people going on a mission strip you know impacts those 30 people you know impacts those 30 people you know impacts those 30 people obviously it impacts the people that obviously it impacts the people that obviously it impacts the people that they're going to do

they're going to do they're going to do uh the mission strip with you know uh the mission strip with you know uh the mission strip with you know wherever they're going to do that wherever they're going to do that wherever they're going to do that um but ultimately we're um but ultimately we're um but ultimately we're those are probably people that are those are probably people that are those are probably people that are already following christ and so you have already following christ and so you have already following christ and so you have to think about to think about to think about at your church there's going to be two at your church there's going to be two at your church there's going to be two types of people right there's going to types of people right there's going to types of people right there's going to be people who don't follow christ never be people who don't follow christ never be people who don't follow christ never really had a faith really had a faith really had a faith never come to church before and then never come to church before and then never come to church before and then there's going to be people people that there's going to be people people that there's going to be people people that are well there's going to be something are well there's going to be something are well there's going to be something that's kind of in between those but that's kind of in between those but that's kind of in between those but maybe they've accepted christ they're maybe they've accepted christ they're maybe they've accepted christ they're not fully bought in yet but then you're not fully bought in yet but then you're not fully bought in yet but then you're going to have the people that are fully going to have the people that are fully going to have the people that are fully really bought in and so that's how you really bought in and so that's how you really bought in and so that's how you you tier based upon those levels and you tier based upon those levels and you tier based upon those levels and based upon who you're going to reach based upon who you're going to reach based upon who you're going to reach so your your top tier is so your your top tier is so your your top tier is always going to be to those people that always going to be to those people that always going to be to those people that have never had uh an experience with have never had uh an experience with have never had uh an experience with your church your church your church yeah yeah i love i love that tiered yeah yeah i love i love that tiered yeah yeah i love i love that tiered approach approach approach and it makes it very clear and by the and it makes it very clear and by the and it makes it very clear and by the way that not only does that make it way communication director ministries also understand now what kind ministries also understand now what kind ministries also understand now what kind of support they're going to get because of support motorcycle club the knitters or the the motorcycle club right and but yet that doesn't reach right and but yet that doesn't reach right and but yet that doesn't reach everybody everybody everybody so you know they understand they're not so you know they understand they're not so you know they understand they're not going to get stage presence they're not going to get stage presence they're not going to get stage presence they're not going to even get a slide for going to even get a slide for going to even get a slide for pre-worship pre-worship pre-worship right they're they're going to get this right they're they're going to get this right they're they're going to get this you know this nugget or that nugget you know this nugget or that nugget you know this nugget or that nugget they're they're they're they're going to you know what exposures they're going to you know what exposures they're going to you know what exposures i one of the things that i think i one of the things that i think i one of the things that i think is the best one of the best ways you can is the best one of the best ways you can is the best one of the best ways you can explain to ministries and explain to ministries and explain to ministries and i've had really great success when i've had really great success when i've had really great success when explaining this to ministries explaining this to ministries explaining this to ministries is that because they're they're over

so i think that is really important so i think that is really important because because because um i know jason and i have talked about um i know jason and i have talked about um i know jason and i have talked about like jason's looking in his email and like jason's looking in his email and like jason's looking in his email and he's got several emails from he's got several emails from he's got several emails from uh from other staff and then he loses uh from other staff and then he loses uh from other staff and then he loses his outside email he's like oh where's his outside email he's like oh where's his outside email he's like oh where's that email from that email from that email from this other client that i've been working this other client that i've been working this other client that i've been working with i can't find it right so with i can't find it right so with i can't find it right so that's that's just a push for internal that's that's just a push for internal that's that's just a push for internal communication using slack or microsoft communication using slack or microsoft communication using slack or microsoft teams or something like that teams or something like that teams or something like that as far as uh email goes as far as uh email goes as far as uh email goes uh i think emails can be used uh i think emails can be used uh i think emails can be used enter you know internally if you need to enter you know internally if you need to enter you know internally if you need to if it's maybe someone you don't talk to if it's maybe someone you don't talk to if it's maybe someone you don't talk to a lot maybe have like more explanation a lot maybe have like more explanation a lot maybe have like more explanation and and and but uh let me support that by saying uh but uh let me support that by saying uh but uh let me support that by saying uh you should be using some sort of project you should be using some sort of project you should be using some sort of project management management management software so i'm a huge fan of asana software so i'm a huge fan of asana software so i'm a huge fan of asana they're not paying me they're not paying me they're not paying me although maybe i should get them to pay although maybe i should get them to pay although maybe i should get them to pay me because i me because i me because i i promote them a lot um a sauna right is i promote them a lot um a sauna right is i promote them a lot um a sauna right is just a way to organize just a way to organize just a way to organize products or projects excuse me projects products or projects excuse me projects products or projects excuse me projects um there's so many different ones out um there's so many different ones out um there's so many different ones out there there there uh monday i've been getting a lot of ad uh monday i've been getting a lot of ad uh monday i've been getting a lot of ad now i'm gonna get even more ads but i've now i'm gonna get even more ads but i've now i'm gonna get even more ads but i've been getting a lot of ads for monday been getting a lot of ads for monday been getting a lot of ads for monday uh monday.com i think it's what it's uh monday.com i think it's what it's uh monday.com i think it's what it's called yeah um there's trello called yeah um there's trello called yeah um there's trello i i know a lot of churches that use i i know a lot of churches that use i i know a lot of churches that use trello actually i was on trello for a trello actually i was on trello for a trello actually i was on trello for a while while while i like asana better and and really it i like asana better and and really it i like asana better and and really it just kind of comes down to kind of how just kind of comes down to kind of how just kind of comes down to kind of how your brain works i think as to what your your brain works i think as to what your your brain works i think as to what your preference is preference is preference is but um a lot of them have free versions but um a lot of them have free versions but um a lot of them have free versions so if you're a smaller so if you're a smaller so if you're a smaller church and you're like well i don't want church and you're like well i don't want church and you're like well i don't want to pay for one of these expensive to pay for one of these expensive to pay for one of these expensive softwares softwares softwares you there's a free version that they'll
