they weren't as welcoming as they should be yours you welcoming as they should be yours you welcoming as they should be yours you want them to be and so they're not just want them to be and so they're but they fill out that visitor card and they fill out that visitor card and they fill out that visitor card and nobody calls them so they're kind of nobody calls them so they're kind of nobody calls your volunteers and off you're training your volunteers and off you're training your volunteers and you're imparting that vision and that you're imparting that vision and that you're imparting that vision and that passion that you have for people to them passion that you have for people to them passion that you have for people to them so they're taking really good care of so they're taking really good care of so they're taking really good care of people and they know to be looking out people and they know to be looking out people and they know to be looking out for first-time guests and church facility and helping them get their kids facility and helping them get their kids facility and helping them get their kids checked in and finding the sanctuary checked in and finding the keyed into your church management system your your church management system your your church management system your database and then somebody's getting on database and then somebody's getting on database and then somebody's getting on the phone and calling them that Monday the phone and calling them that Monday the phone and calling them that Monday afternoon or send them an email whatever afternoon or send them an email whatever afternoon or send them an email whatever your process is and so they they feel your process is and so they they feel your process is and so they they feel like you know what these guys cared like you know what these guys cared like you know what these guys cared about me they cared about my kids they about me they cared about my kids they about me they cared about my kids they care about my family they called they care about my family they called they care about my family they called they followed up you know what this might be followed up you know what this might be followed up you know what this might be my new church home that's where systems my new church home that's where systems my new church home that's where systems which I know sounds so boring and which I know sounds so boring and which I know sounds so boring and business eat but that's where systems business eat but that's where systems business eat but that's where systems are some of the you know top interviewing some of the you know top senior leaders of some of the fastest senior leaders of some of the fastest senior leaders of some of the fastest growing churches in the country and time growing churches in the country and time growing churches in the country and time and time again you know if you're and time again you know if you're and time again you know if you're listening in to the podcast you'll be listening in to the podcast you'll be listening in to the podcast you'll be hearing them talk about repeatable hearing them talk about repeatable hearing them talk about repeatable processes right that there we're doing processes right that there we're doing processes right that there we're doing these things over and over and that's these things over and over and that's these things over and over and that's all it really a system is and so I you all it really a system is and so I you all it really a system is and so I you know appreciate that you're would be areas that you run into that kind of be areas that you run into that kind of be areas that you run into that kind of art you know robust enough for churches art you know robust enough for churches art you know robust enough for churches or their they haven't really developed a or their they haven't really developed a or their they haven't really developed a you know a clean enough system or a you know a clean enough system or a you know a clean enough system or a clear enough system a repeatable enough clear enough system a repeatable enough clear enough system a repeatable enough system on a regular basis and you know system on a regular basis and you know system on a regular basis and you know volunteers everyone is always looking volunteers everyone is always looking volunteers everyone is always looking for more volunteers they're trying to for more volunteers they're trying to for more volunteers they're trying to figure out okay why aren't people figure out okay why aren't people figure out okay why aren't people sticking around why aren't they showing sticking around why aren't they showing sticking around why aren't they showing up on a Sunday when they said they would up on a Sunday when they said they would up on a Sunday when they said they would all that sort of thing so really making all that sort of thing so really making all that sort of thing so really making sure that you are cultivating an sure that you are cultivating an sure that you are cultivating an atmosphere of service yep within your atmosphere of service yep within your atmosphere of service yep within your church from the time that somebody may church from the time that somebody may church from the time that somebody may be you know depend on if you have a be you know depend on if you have a be you know depend on if you have a full-blown new membership class or full-blown new membership class or full-blown new membership class or however you do that really helping however you do that really helping however you do that really helping people see that that's a process that people see that that's a process that people see that that's a process that gets them plugged into the church it gets them plugged into the church it gets them plugged into the church it helps them develop solid relationships helps them develop solid relationships helps them develop solid relationships and so yes that's a very people centered and so yes that's a very people centered and so yes that's a very people centered kind of you know maybe more ministry kind of you know maybe more ministry kind of you know maybe more ministry feeling but you've got to put that feeling but you've got to put that feeling but you've got to put that structure in those processes in place to structure in those processes in place to structure in those processes in place to make sure that you really train your make sure that you really train your make sure that you really train your volunteers well that they understand the volunteers well that they understand the volunteers well that they understand the vision that you've got strong volunteer vision that you've got strong volunteer vision that you've got strong volunteer leaders in place to nurture them and to leaders in place to nurture them and to leaders in place to nurture them and to set the bar high with what kind of level set the bar high with what kind of level set the bar high with what kind of level of excellence you're looking for them to of excellence you're looking for them to of excellence you're looking for them to do so they know what's expected of them do so they know what's expected of them do so they know what's expected of them so that's definitely a key thing for all

church leader you've got to sit down and create and I know got to sit down and create and I know got to sit down and create and I know this sounds totally business II but this sounds totally business II but this sounds totally business II but you've got to sit down and create a job you've got to sit down and create a job you've got to sit down and create a job description what and this doesn't have description what and this doesn't have description what and this doesn't have to be thing fancy but you know what's to be thing fancy but you know what's to be thing fancy but you know what's the top five bullet point items that the top five bullet point items that the top five bullet point items that that you expect from your greeters we're that you expect from your greeters we're that you expect from your greeters we're from the people out in the parking lot from the people out in the parking lot from the people out in the parking lot or you know your Usher's or whatever for or you know your Usher's or whatever for or you know your Usher's or whatever for each role set out those each role set out those each role set out those spectators what does the win look like spectators what does the win look like spectators what does the win look like right we all know in football when right we all know in football when right we all know in football when somebody's squirt a your volunteers you've got to define the win volunteers you've got to define the win volunteers you've got to define the win so that's step number one once you and so that's step number one once you and so that's step number one once you and your entire leadership team know exactly your entire leadership team know exactly your entire leadership team know exactly what you expect from volunteers are taking care of people you're welcoming them into your people you're welcoming them into your people you're welcoming them into your church home if you welcome if you have a church home if you welcome if you have a church home if you welcome if you have a dinner party at your home you really dinner party at your home you really dinner party at your home you really take care of people you show them where take care of people you show them where take care of people you show them where things are and the house you make sure things are and the house you make sure things are and the house you make sure that they you get them a glass water you that they you get them a glass water you that they you get them a glass water you know usually Sunday morning it's coffee know usually Sunday you've got it tell them you know kind of the specifics of them you know kind of the specifics of them you know kind of the specifics of what you want and then also the heart

churches have all the time problem that churches have all the time is that families may stop attending is that families may stop attending is that families may stop attending because they simply people don't notice because they simply people don't notice because they simply people don't notice what are you you know kind of noticing what are you you know kind of noticing what are you you know kind of noticing that churches that are able to kind of that churches that are able to kind of that churches that are able to kind of close that back door what are the what close that back door what we're CHMS system and you're taking doing some sort of attendance taking or doing some sort of attendance taking or doing some sort of attendance taking or check in a lot of them now you can kind couple of sundays in a row I was just couple of sundays in a row I was just checking in on him seeing hey is checking in on him seeing hey is checking in on him seeing hey is everything okay you know what can we do everything okay you know what can we do everything okay you know what can we do to help you or you know if they got to help you or you know if they got to help you or you know if they got injured or somebody was in the hospital injured or somebody was in the hospital injured or somebody was in the hospital we we followed up on that so absolutely we we followed up on that so absolutely we we followed up on that so absolutely just getting people plugged in yeah and just getting people plugged in yeah and just getting people plugged in yeah and I think even just tracking in the kids I think even just tracking in the kids I think even just tracking in the kids ministry that obviously gives you a wide ministry that obviously gives you a wide ministry that obviously gives you a wide swath of you know of people like you're swath of you know of people like you're swath of you know of people like you're saying within like small groups or life saying within like small groups or life saying within like small groups or life groups you know encouraging your leaders groups you know encouraging your leaders groups you know encouraging your leaders to you know take attendance CCB church to you know take attendance CCB church to you know take attendance CCB church community builder has a really slick community builder has a really slick community builder has a really slick kind of kind of kind of attendance system for that that's very attendance system for that that's very attendance system for that that's very easy to use you know as a leader and easy to use you know as a leader and easy to use you know as a leader and that that data can be really powerful to that that data can be really powerful to that that data can be really powerful to help move people along and keep them you help move people along and keep them you help move people along and keep them you know connected what our church is doing know connected what our church is doing know connected what our church is doing from your perspective from any kind of from your perspective from any kind of from your perspective from any kind of organizational planning or you know kind organizational planning or you know kind organizational planning or you know kind of you know implementation of the vision of you know implementation of the vision of you know implementation of the vision of the senior pastor what are you seeing of the senior pastor what are you seeing of the senior pastor what are you seeing that you know is working these days for that you know is working these days for that you know is working these days for churches well you know typically when a churches well you know typically when a churches well you know typically when a church comes to me it's not working so church comes to me it's not working so church comes to me it's not working so that's kind of the fun so how do you that's kind of the fun so how do you that's kind of the fun so how do you help them okay yeah there you go and help them okay yeah there you go and help them okay yeah there you go and usually the first step is trying to usually the first step is trying to usually the first step is trying to bridge that gap between what i would bridge that gap between what i would bridge that gap between what i would call kind of faith and vision and call kind of faith and vision and call kind of faith and vision and planning because there's this planning because there's this planning because there's this misconception that planning equals misconception that planning equals misconception that planning equals business and we're trying to run the business and we're trying to run the business and we're trying to run the church like a business and that's that's church like a business and that's that's church like a business and that's that's really at least from my perspective really at least from my perspective really at least from my perspective that's not my heart behind it at all I that's not my heart behind it at all I that's not my heart behind it at all I think there's a lot of leadership and think there's a lot of leadership and think there's a lot of leadership and organizational principles that are organizational principles that are organizational principles that are straight out of the Bible that the straight out of the Bible that the straight out of the Bible that the business world gets to use all the time business world gets to use all the time business world gets to use all the time so why aren't we using it yes um you

so why aren't we using it yes um you so why aren't we using it yes um you know just wrote telling Moses hey you know just wrote telling Moses hey you know just wrote telling Moses hey you need to delegate more you're you're need to delegate more you're you're need to delegate more you're you're wearing yourself out here oh you know wearing yourself out here oh you know wearing yourself out here oh you know even Jesus had twelve apostles one even Jesus had twelve apostles one even Jesus had twelve apostles one didn't work out so well but the rest of didn't work out so well but the rest of didn't work out so well but the rest of them we're spreading the gospel right them we're spreading the gospel right them we're spreading the gospel right yes so we we need to be leveraging those yes so we we need to be leveraging those yes so we we need to be leveraging those core principles so one thing is first core principles so one thing is first core principles so one thing is first off you got to convince the senior off you got to convince the senior off you got to convince the senior leader that fire ready aim just isn't leader that fire ready aim just isn't leader that fire ready aim just isn't working you know I'll get excited about working you know I'll get excited about working you know I'll get excited about a vision we get excited about you know a vision we get excited about you know a vision we get excited about you know starting a new service or launch the starting a new service or launch the starting a new service or launch the campus whatever it might be and we all campus whatever it might be and we all campus whatever it might be and we all just want to go for it and reach more just want to go for it and reach more just want to go for it and reach more people and that's great you want to people and that's great you want to people and that's great you want to capture that passion and that vision um capture that passion and that vision um capture that passion and that vision um but then you gotta step back a little but then you gotta step back a little but then you gotta step back a little bit and go okay how are we going to make bit and go okay how are we going to make bit and go okay how are we going to make that happen right and it's not all about that happen right and it's not all about that happen right and it's not all about saying it's all on us God is obviously saying it's all on us God is obviously saying it's all on us God is obviously providing that vision he's going to help providing that vision he's going to help providing that vision he's going to help provide the food of the resources and provide the food of the resources and provide the food of the resources and the ability to get it done but he's also the ability to get it done but he's also the ability to get it done but he's also entrusted us with talents and abilities entrusted us with talents and abilities entrusted us with talents and abilities to go out there and make it happen in to go out there and make it happen in to go out there and make it happen in flame so you know kind of getting that flame so you know kind of getting that flame so you know kind of getting that across to everybody first yeah across to everybody first yeah across to everybody first yeah definitely and then you know just definitely and then you know just definitely and then you know just starting to kind of show people how it starting to kind of show people how it starting to kind of show people how it works so I've helped a church here works so I've helped a church here works so I've helped a church here locally plan locally plan locally plan large events about 10,000 people that large events about 10,000 people that large events about 10,000 people that were it and you know a lot of what I did were it and you know a lot of what I did were it and you know a lot of what I did was I led some of the initial team was I led some of the initial team was I led some of the initial team meetings and set got an agenda put meetings and set got an agenda put meetings and set got an agenda put together sat down led the meeting kind together sat down led the meeting kind together sat down led the meeting kind of made assignments put an org chart of made assignments put an org chart of made assignments put an org chart together if he wanted response what together if he wanted response what together if he wanted response what aspect of the event got a to-do list got
