currently we just we just did our currently we just we just did our semester kind of tally and we have semester kind of tally and we have semester kind of tally and we have 38,000 people in small groups right now 38,000 people in small groups right now 38,000 people in small groups right now 8750 to exact which is incredible and 8750 to exact which is incredible and 8750 to exact which is incredible and yep on Sunday use 31,000 counts kids the yep on Sunday use 31,000 counts kids the yep on Sunday use 31,000 counts kids the small group number is just adults small group number is just adults small group number is just adults we are thrilled that we have more people we are thrilled that we have more people we are thrilled that we have more people consistently in small groups and we have consistently in small groups and we have consistently in small groups and we have coming on Sundays because we believe coming on Sundays because we believe coming on Sundays because we believe with all of our hearts that true life with all of our hearts that true life with all of our hearts that true life change happens in the context of change happens in the context of change happens in the context of relationship not services relationship not services relationship not services and so obviously we have to have great and so obviously we have to have great and so obviously we have to have great services to connect people to God we services to connect people to God we services to connect people to God we also need them to be connected in also need them to be connected in also need them to be connected in relationship and so the system that we relationship and so the system that we relationship and so the system that we use a church of the highlands we just use a church of the highlands we just use a church of the highlands we just call it the free market that's my system call it the free market that's my system call it the free market that's my system yep and we are not trying to build the yep and we are not trying to build the yep and we are not trying to build the church around us and our passions and church around us and our passions and church around us and our passions and our giftings and what we think smarter our giftings and what we think smarter our giftings and what we think smarter should look like or ministry should look should look like or ministry should look should look like or ministry should look like we want to discover what's in the like we want to discover what's in the like we want to discover what's in the people of the church and let's come at people of the church and let's come at people of the church and let's come at ministry everybody in your church ministry everybody in your church ministry everybody in your church whatever church you have is in a small whatever church you have is in a small whatever church you have is in a small group human beings naturally grouped group human beings naturally grouped group human beings naturally grouped probably in a group that's not the probably in a group that's not the probably in a group that's not the church's it's not strategically used for church's it's not strategically used for church's it's not strategically used for ministry and so we we don't ask people ministry and so we we don't ask people ministry and so we we don't ask people to stop their lives and then come our to stop their lives and then come our to stop their lives and then come our small groups where we ask them to small groups where we ask them to small groups where we ask them to strategically turn their lives in the strategically turn their lives in the strategically turn their lives in the ministry and so our small groups look ministry and so our small groups look ministry and so our small groups look like our people so when we have people like our people so when we have people like our people so when we have people that have a deep passion for prayer and that have a deep passion for prayer and that have a deep passion for prayer and intercession they lead prayer small intercession they lead prayer small intercession they lead prayer small groups and when we have people in our groups and when we have people in our groups and when we have people in our church that have a deep passion to help church that have a deep passion to help church that have a deep passion to help the elderly in nursing homes we have the elderly in nursing homes we have the elderly in nursing homes we have small groups that go to nursing homes if

small groups that go to nursing homes if small groups that go to nursing homes if we have people that have a passion to we have people that have a passion to we have people that have a passion to break down the scriptures and Greek and break down the scriptures and Greek and break down the scriptures and Greek and Hebrew and that's it for hours we have Hebrew and that's it for hours we have Hebrew and that's it for hours we have groups that do that and so we let people groups that do that and so we let people groups that do that and so we let people determine what their group looks like determine what their group looks like determine what their group looks like and and therefore there's all these and and therefore there's all these and and therefore there's all these benefits when it's what they love benefits when it's what they love benefits when it's what they love they're more apt to invite people be a they're more apt to invite people be a they're more apt to invite people be a part of when it's what they love they're part of when it's what they love they're part of when it's what they love they're less apt to burnout right and so there's less apt to burnout right and so there's less apt to burnout right and so there's this passion there's this energy and this passion there's this energy and this passion there's this energy and this excitement and and then there's the this excitement and and then there's the this excitement and and then there's the longevity because they're getting to longevity because they're getting to longevity because they're getting to fulfill God's calling on their life not fulfill God's calling on their life not fulfill God's calling on their life not fulfill the church is calling on the fulfill the church is calling on the fulfill the church is calling on the small group system if you will and small group system if you will and small group system if you will and within that free market system we've within that free market system we've within that free market system we've even followed the flow of life and the even followed the flow of life and the even followed the flow of life and the seasons of life let's break it into seasons of life let's break it into seasons of life let's break it into semesters just like the school year semesters just like the school year semesters just like the school year right so we'll have a fall semester right so we'll have a fall semester right so we'll have a fall semester we're in right now we're several in to we're in right now we're several in to we're in right now we're several in to that and it's going to end in the first that and it's going to end in the first that and it's going to end in the first week of December and we're not gonna try week of December and we're not gonna try week of December and we're not gonna try to force people to have small group to force people to have small group to force people to have small group every week throughout the holidays when every week throughout the holidays when every week throughout the holidays when there's so much going on they've got there's so much going on they've got there's so much going on they've got business parties and family gatherings business parties and family gatherings business parties and family gatherings and lord knows with broken homes you and lord knows with broken homes you and lord knows with broken homes you know there are so many different know there are so many different know there are so many different Christmas events and so we're not going Christmas events and so we're not going Christmas events and so we're not going to to to with that and and so we take a break with that and and so we take a break with that and and so we take a break from through December and then our from through December and then our from through December and then our church prays and fasts in January and at church prays and fasts in January and at church prays and fasts in January and at the end of that we launch small groups the end of that we launch small groups the end of that we launch small groups again and we go through the spring again and we go through the spring again and we go through the spring semester much like a school calendar semester much like a school calendar semester much like a school calendar right right right those those semesters over thirteen those those semesters over thirteen those those semesters over thirteen weeks for us works great with all the weeks for us works great with all the weeks for us works great with all the different curriculums out there there different curriculums out there there different curriculums out there there are so many great curriculums from great

we we invite people to use all those things we invite people to use all those things we invite people to use all those things and and then we do a short semester in and and then we do a short semester have a in your group that might not have a relationship with Jesus at all there's relationship with Jesus at all there's relationship with Jesus at all there's people in your group that maybe have people in your group that maybe have people in your group that maybe have been in church for 20 years been in church for 20 years been in church for 20 years and there are very different places but and there are very different places but and there are very different places but they're in the same group so spiritually they're in the same group so spiritually they're in the same group so there are there are people with issues there are there are people with issues there are there are people with issues and problems and even as a pastor if I and problems and even as a pastor if I and to if they're gonna be in my small have to if they're gonna be in my small group and I've got a disciple him and group and I've got a disciple him and group and I've got a disciple him and make him a fully devoted follower of make him a fully devoted follower of make him a fully devoted follower of Jesus I begin to feel this pressure in Jesus I begin to feel this pressure in Jesus I begin to feel very intimidating very hard and very be very intimidating very hard and very be very intimidating very hard and very discouraging because people just usually discouraging because people just usually barrier for the people in the church barrier for the people in the church barrier for the people in the church that you want to connect to a small that you want to connect to a small that you want to connect to a small group many of them have a perception group many of them have a perception group many of them have a perception what is the small group what what is what is the small group what what is what is the small group what what is that like is am I gonna stand in a that like is am I gonna stand in a that like is am I gonna stand in a circle and hold hands with people are we circle and
