to this is a great church innovative to this is a great church innovative church doing all kinds of very church doing all kinds of very church doing all kinds of very interesting things and I'm hoping we'll interesting things and I'm hoping we'll interesting things and I'm hoping we'll get to dig into some of it today but as get to dig into some of it today but as get to dig into some of it today but as a casual observer you know one of the a casual observer you know one of the a casual observer you know one of the things I'd noticed is you do seem to things I'd noticed is you do seem to things I'd noticed is you do seem to have not only a focus but then also an have not only a focus but then also an have not only a focus but then also an ability to actually reach the next ability to actually reach the next ability to actually reach the next generation and I'd love to talk about generation and I'd love to talk about generation and I'd love to talk about that a little bit today what are you that a little bit today what are you that a little bit today what are you learning on that front as you kind of learning on that front as you kind of learning on that front as you kind of think about reaching out into this next think about reaching out into this next think about reaching out into this next generation sure well one of the things generation sure well one of the things generation sure well one of the things that's been really unique and it's also that's been really unique and it's also that's been really unique and it's also brings its own set of challenges is that brings its own set of challenges is that brings its own set of challenges is that the average age at our church is 30 the average age at our church is 30 the average age at our church is 30 years old and that's not accounting most years old and that's not accounting most years old and that's not accounting most of our kids ministry right and so that of our kids ministry right and so that of our kids ministry right and so that brings a unique set of circumstances brings a unique set of circumstances brings a unique set of circumstances it's fun it does allow us to be you know it's fun it does allow us to be you know it's fun it does allow us to be you know innovative and things like innovative and things like innovative and things like but I'm sure as you can imagine you know but I'm sure as you can imagine you know but I'm sure as you can imagine you know when you're reaching that young of a when you're reaching that young of a when you're reaching that young of a crowd it brings its own set of crowd it brings its own set of crowd it brings its own set of circumstances and challenges so it's not circumstances and challenges so it's not circumstances and challenges so it's not all you know roses just we're reaching all you know roses just we're reaching all you know roses just we're reaching that kind of crowd we're also reaching a that kind of crowd we're also reaching a that kind of crowd we're also reaching a group where over sixty percent of them group where over sixty percent of them group where over sixty percent of them have said that they weren't involved in have said that they weren't involved in have said that they weren't involved in a church before coming to experience a church before coming to experience a church before coming to experience life and so it's a very unchurched group life and so it's a very unchurched group life and so it's a very unchurched group it's a very young group and which again it's a very young group and which again it's a very young group and which again brings with it its own set of Jeff I brings with it its own set of Jeff I brings with it its own set of Jeff I think I would imagine a lot of church think I would imagine a lot of church think I would imagine a lot of church leaders are listening in today saying leaders are listening in today saying leaders are listening in today saying WOW like that would be great but that's WOW like that would be great but that's WOW like that would be great but that's got some gold-plated problems attached got some gold-plated problems attached got some gold-plated problems attached to it I'd imagine it's no doubt it's to it I'd imagine it's no doubt it's to it I'd imagine it's no doubt it's very exciting it's fun to be around that very exciting it's fun to be around that very exciting it's fun to be around that kind of life change yeah but yeah when kind of life change yeah but yeah when kind of life change yeah but yeah when it comes to raising up new leaders it comes to raising up new leaders it comes to raising up new leaders having leaders that are ready you know having leaders that are ready you know having leaders that are ready you know things like giving small group leaders

things like giving small group leaders things like giving small group leaders just all those kinds of things become a just all those kinds of things become a just all those kinds of things become a challenge you know when you've reached challenge you know when you've reached challenge you know when you've reached that large of a percentage of unchurched that large of a percentage of unchurched that large of a percentage of unchurched people and that are also that young you people and that are also that young you people and that are also that young you know we've had I think it was like 33 know we've had I think it was like 33 know we've had I think it was like 33 percent of our people have committed percent of our people have committed percent of our people have committed their life to Jesus at experienced life their life to Jesus at experienced life their life to Jesus at experienced life once so again that's a lot of fun and once so again that's a lot of fun and once so again that's a lot of fun and it's you know it's exciting to be around it's you know it's exciting to be around it's you know it's exciting to be around and it's been you know a constant and it's been you know a constant and it's been you know a constant evaluation of okay what are we doing evaluation of okay what are we doing evaluation of okay what are we doing what's our mission and what do we need what's our mission and what do we need what's our mission and what do we need to do in order to reach those who are to do in order to reach those who are to do in order to reach those who are far from God reach those who don't have far from God reach those who don't have far from God reach those who don't have a relationship with Jesus and so a relationship with Jesus and so a relationship with Jesus and so whenever we're faced with something you whenever we're faced with something you whenever we're faced with something you know that we need to do or we feel like know that we need to do or we feel like know that we need to do or we feel like we need to change you know in order to we need to change you know in order to we need to change you know in order to reach that crowd we begin to do that and reach that crowd we begin to do that and reach that crowd we begin to do that and I really think that starts with prayer I really think that starts with prayer I really think that starts with prayer we have a big commitment to prayer that we have a big commitment to prayer that we have a big commitment to prayer that experience like we have a prayer experience like we have a prayer experience like we have a prayer gathering you're in the middle of the gathering you're in the middle of the gathering you're in the middle of the week we have a staff prayer time during week we have a staff prayer time during week we have a staff prayer time during every single week where our staff comes every single week where our staff comes every single week where our staff comes together to pray so in a given week together to pray so in a given week together to pray so in a given week we'll have hundreds of people coming we'll have hundreds of people coming we'll have hundreds of people coming together to pray because each campus has together to pray because each campus has together to pray because each campus has a prayer gathering where they come and a prayer gathering where they come and a prayer gathering where they come and so we pray and we really feel like so we pray and we really feel like so we pray and we really feel like that's important because we want to hear that's important because we want to hear that's important because we want to hear from God from God from God about the people that he's calling us to about the people that he's calling us to about the people that he's calling us to reach and what we need to do in order to reach and what we need to do in order to reach and what we need to do in order to go reach go reach go reach those people and so is ready that sounds those people and so is ready that sounds those people and so is ready that sounds amazing so um pretty incredible I think amazing so um pretty incredible I think amazing so um pretty incredible I think some people might be listening and some people might be listening and some people might be listening and saying you know the of course he's gonna saying you know the of course he's gonna saying you know the of course he's gonna say that you got to pray why don't you

say that you got to pray why don't you say that you got to pray why don't you give us a sense of what happens at those give us a sense of what happens at those give us a sense of what happens at those prayer meetings kind of dive in a little prayer meetings kind of dive in a little prayer meetings kind of dive in a little bit and then you know how is it that you bit and then you know how is it that you bit and then you know how is it that you know yeah what is it that is happening know yeah what is it that is happening know yeah what is it that is happening at those events sure uh you know when we at those events sure uh you know when we at those events sure uh you know when we come together to pray I think a lot of come together to pray I think a lot of come together to pray I think a lot of people have an idea of a prayer people have an idea of a prayer people have an idea of a prayer gathering you know especially if they're gathering you know especially if they're gathering you know especially if they're younger growing up and it's boring and younger growing up and it's boring and younger growing up and it's boring and you know it's something they don't you know it's something they don't you know it's something they don't really want to go to but you know when really want to go to but you know when really want to go to but you know when we come together to pray it's fun it's we come together to pray it's fun it's we come together to pray it's fun it's exciting we have worship we have our exciting we have worship we have our exciting we have worship we have our campus pastors lead that time and we're campus pastors lead that time and we're campus pastors lead that time and we're praying about things that we're doing as praying about things that we're doing as praying about things that we're doing as a church we pray about the messages in a church we pray about the messages in a church we pray about the messages in the series that we're in and being the series that we're in and being the series that we're in and being obedient to the things that we're obedient to the things that we're obedient to the things that we're hearing we pray for people who are hearing we pray for people who are hearing we pray for people who are struggling we have teams of people that struggling we have teams of people that struggling we have teams of people that are available during those services to are available during those services to are available during those services to pray with people who are struggling with pray with people who are struggling with pray with people who are struggling with any kind of life circumstance and then any kind of life circumstance and then any kind of life circumstance and then you know because of the the group that you know because of the the group that you know because of the the group that we've been able to reach we'll have we've been able to reach we'll have we've been able to reach we'll have people you know say hey you know are you people you know say hey you know are you people you know say hey you know are you struggling with this do you have this struggling with this do you have this struggling with this do you have this going on in your life you know stand up going on in your life you know stand up going on in your life you know stand up and let people come and and pray for and let people come and and pray for and let people come and and pray for them and it could seem from the outside them and it could seem from the outside them and it could seem from the outside like to be a very awkward you know thing like to be a very awkward you know thing like to be a very awkward you know thing but I think you probably just have to but I think you probably just have to but I think you probably just have to trust for a church that's reaching this trust for a church that's reaching this trust for a church that's reaching this kind of percentage of unchurched people kind of percentage of unchurched people kind of percentage of unchurched people it's not weird it's not awkward it is it's not weird it's not awkward it is it's not weird it's not awkward it is exciting and we've really seen God just exciting and we've really seen God just exciting and we've really seen God just set the hearts of our people on fire for set the hearts of our people on fire for set the hearts of our people on fire for what he's calling us to do through what he's calling us to do through what he's calling us to do through prayer that's where the passion and prayer that's where the passion and prayer that's where the passion and commitment and you know you know vision commitment and you know you know vision commitment and you know you know vision comes from to reach the unchurched to

comes from to reach the unchurched to comes from to reach the unchurched to reach those who are far from God to be reach those who are far from God to be reach those who are far from God to be obedient to the mission that Jesus has obedient to the mission that Jesus has obedient to the mission that Jesus has given us it comes from that prayer time given us it comes from that prayer time given us it comes from that prayer time very cool now I imagine you know earlier very cool now I imagine you know earlier very cool now I imagine you know earlier you talked about being willing to change you talked about being willing to change you talked about being willing to change and try some new things yeah well you and try some new things yeah well you and try some new things yeah well you know what else if you had to do you know know what else if you had to do you know know what else if you had to do you know or something again that's one of those or something again that's one of those or something again that's one of those things church leaders will say all the things church leaders will say all the things church leaders will say all the time well we got to be willing to try time well we got to be willing to try time well we got to be willing to try stuff right I reach people who you know stuff right I reach people who you know stuff right I reach people who you know no one else is reaching that I'll be no one else is reaching that I'll be no one else is reaching that I'll be willing to do that what no one else is willing to do that what no one else is willing to do that what no one else is doing what are some of those things that doing what are some of those things that doing what are some of those things that experience life has had to do to change experience life has had to do to change experience life has had to do to change to reach people in your concern well to reach people in your concern well to reach people in your concern well when we first started our pastor Pastor when we first started our pastor Pastor when we first started our pastor Pastor Chris Chris Chris ghal honest you know really believed in ghal honest you know really believed in ghal honest you know really believed in a cell church and so we started out as a a cell church and so we started out as a a cell church and so we started out as a church of small group cell groups that church of small group cell groups that church of small group cell groups that we're meeting and we're only going to we're meeting and we're only going to we're meeting and we're only going to worship like once together like once a worship like once together like once a worship like once together like once a month or so and we were really and those month or so and we were really and those month or so and we were really and those are still things that we do we still do are still things that we do we still do are still things that we do we still do groups that you know that follow more of groups that you know that follow more of groups that you know that follow more of a cell church model but when we began to a cell church model but when we began to a cell church model but when we began to meet together it exploded and so we were meet together it exploded and so we were meet together it exploded and so we were kind of faced with this decision okay we kind of faced with this decision okay we kind of faced with this decision okay we had this model you know we had this form had this model you know we had this form had this model you know we had this form that we thought we were really committed that we thought we were really committed that we thought we were really committed to and that we thought God was going to to and that we thought God was going to to and that we thought God was going to use to reach the lost in West Texas it use to reach the lost in West Texas it use to reach the lost in West Texas it didn't work that way right and we had a didn't work that way right and we had a didn't work that way right and we had a choice we could either keep doing what choice we could either keep doing what choice we could either keep doing what we were doing and you know go probably we were doing and you know go probably we were doing and you know go probably much slower and not reach the lost much slower and not reach the lost much slower and not reach the lost because in West Texas people are still because in West Texas people are still because in West Texas people are still willing to come to an event they're willing to come to an event they're willing to come to an event they're still willing to come to a gathering and

still willing to come to a gathering and still willing to come to a gathering and so when we met together it just exploded so when we met together it just exploded so when we met together it just exploded hundreds you know we're coming hundreds you know we're coming hundreds you know we're coming you know with the launch week of our you know with the launch week of our you know with the launch week of our church we had three hundred and church we had three hundred and church we had three hundred and something people come the very first you something people come the very first you something people come the very first you know week and within a year we're over a know week and within a year we're over a know week and within a year we're over a thousand so you know we had this do we thousand so you know we had this do we thousand so you know we had this do we keep meeting each week or do we keep do keep meeting each week or do we keep do keep meeting each week or do we keep do we stay committed to this form this we stay committed to this form this we stay committed to this form this model that we thought God was you know model that we thought God was you know model that we thought God was you know leading us to do well we have something leading us to do well we have something leading us to do well we have something you know we've always gone back to you know we've always gone back to you know we've always gone back to experiencing God Henry Blackaby says you experiencing God Henry Blackaby says you experiencing God Henry Blackaby says you know you look for where God's moving know you look for where God's moving know you look for where God's moving look to where he's working in you join look to where he's working in you join look to where he's working in you join him there him there him there so we see God moving and working in this so we see God moving and working in this so we see God moving and working in this weekend gathering that we really didn't weekend gathering that we really didn't weekend gathering that we really didn't think would work you really believe that think would work you really believe that think would work you really believe that and but it worked me we were seeing the and but it worked me we were seeing the and but it worked me we were seeing the lost come and get saved we're seeing lost come and get saved we're seeing lost come and get saved we're seeing people who didn't go to church anywhere people who didn't go to church anywhere people who didn't go to church anywhere and who hadn't been involved in Church and who hadn't been involved in Church and who hadn't been involved in Church come and so we decided that Jesus didn't come and so we decided that Jesus didn't come and so we decided that Jesus didn't call us to a model he didn't call us to call us to a model he didn't call us to call us to a model he didn't call us to a form in olives to a way of doing a form in olives to a way of doing a form in olives to a way of doing things he called us to make disciples to things he called us to make disciples to things he called us to make disciples to reach the loss to seek and to save the reach the loss to seek and to save the reach the loss to seek and to save the lost just like his passion was and lost just like his passion was and lost just like his passion was and however that happens we're good with it however that happens we're good with it however that happens we're good with it right what whatever way that works right what whatever way that works right what whatever way that works that's the right way that's the right way that's the right way right now was it our preconceived idea right now was it our preconceived idea right now was it our preconceived idea of what we thought was going to work of what we thought was going to work of what we thought was going to work it's whatever way was working to it's whatever way was working to it's whatever way was working to accomplish the mission and so that's accomplish the mission and so that's accomplish the mission and so that's where we really say you know when it where we really say you know when it where we really say you know when it comes to anything we've got to be more comes to anything we've got to be more comes to anything we've got to be more committed to the mission that Jesus gave committed to the mission that Jesus gave committed to the mission that Jesus gave us into a model absolutely so you've

us into a model absolutely so you've us into a model absolutely so you've really obviously had to adapt to change really obviously had to adapt to change really obviously had to adapt to change over the time you know big time what over the time you know big time what over the time you know big time what else have you once have you've been else have you once have you've been else have you once have you've been doing you know and what are some of doing you know and what are some of doing you know and what are some of those other changes that you've kind of those other changes that you've kind of those other changes that you've kind of ended up having to foist on the ministry ended up having to foist on the ministry ended up having to foist on the ministry right to see you continue to reach right to see you continue to reach right to see you continue to reach people well you know one of the things people well you know one of the things people well you know one of the things as a church in Lubbock Texas we've got as a church in Lubbock Texas we've got as a church in Lubbock Texas we've got you know we've got Texas Tech University you know we've got Texas Tech University you know we've got Texas Tech University right here in our backyard it's a right here in our backyard it's a right here in our backyard it's a college town you know at Tech I think college town you know at Tech I think college town you know at Tech I think there's something like 35,000 students there's something like 35,000 students there's something like 35,000 students enrolled and so you know we as a church enrolled and so you know we as a church enrolled and so you know we as a church we had a lot of younger people obviously we had a lot of younger people obviously we had a lot of younger people obviously we had a lot of college students but it we had a lot of college students but it we had a lot of college students but it was just like we've got almost an was just like we've got almost an was just like we've got almost an unreached people group in our backyard unreached people group in our backyard unreached people group in our backyard in Texas Tech when we begin to realize in Texas Tech when we begin to realize in Texas Tech when we begin to realize how many students go to tech and how how many students go to tech and how how many students go to tech and how many students were involved in a church many students were involved in a church many students were involved in a church somewhere right and so even what we were somewhere right and so even what we were somewhere right and so even what we were doing which was working you know well on doing which was working you know well on doing which was working you know well on for the most part we we were still for the most part we we were still for the most part we we were still realizing we're not reaching the number realizing we're not reaching the number realizing we're not reaching the number of college students that we were of college students that we were of college students that we were comfortable reaching and so we decided comfortable reaching and so we decided comfortable reaching and so we decided that we were going to start something that we were going to start something that we were going to start something new we begin to evaluate is there do we new we begin to evaluate is there do we new we begin to evaluate is there do we have environments we have places where have environments we have places where have environments we have places where these students could come and get these students could come and get these students could come and get plugged in and get involved and we plugged in and get involved and we plugged in and get involved and we really began to realize you know know if really began to realize you know know if really began to realize you know know if we want to reach this group we've got to we want to reach this group we've got to we want to reach this group we've got to go to them we don't want it we don't we go to them we don't want it we don't we go to them we don't want it we don't we can't expect them to come to us we've can't expect them to come to us we've can't expect them to come to us we've got to go to them and so we decided a got to go to them and so we decided a got to go to them and so we decided a plant basically a church on Texas Tech's plant basically a church on Texas Tech's plant basically a church on Texas Tech's campus it's in a big auditorium right campus it's in a big auditorium right campus it's in a big auditorium right there on campus where students from all there on campus where students from all there on campus where students from all over that area could literally walk to over that area could literally walk to over that area could literally walk to church if they wanted to and so we church if they wanted to and so we church if they wanted to and so we started that we actually started it at

work see what would happen we have 500 students come the first night have 500 students come the first night have 500 students come the first night oh my goodness Wow and so it out greed oh my goodness Wow and so it out greed oh my goodness Wow and so it out greed that building that worship center seats that building that worship center seats that building that worship center seats like 400 we had people in our lobby and like 400 we had people in our lobby and like 400 we had people in our lobby and people sitting all over the Texas people sitting all over the Texas people sitting all over the Texas anything or lonely it was crazy anything or lonely it was crazy anything or lonely it was crazy and so we immediately decided to move it and so we immediately decided to move it and so we immediately decided to move it to another campus well that campus was to another campus well that campus was to another campus well that campus was really really far away well we moved it really really far away well we moved it really really far away well we moved it and that it was far away from Texas Tech and that it was far away from Texas Tech and that it was far away from Texas Tech that that we we're gonna reach this group that we feel like God's calling us to reach feel like God's calling us to reach feel like God's calling us to reach we've got to go to them and we got to do we've got to go to them and we got to do we've got to go to them and we got to do things differently we've got to put a things differently we've got to put a things differently we've got to put a different maybe leader and leadership in different maybe leader and leadership in different maybe leader and leadership in place that will be more relevant to that place that will be more relevant to that place that will be more relevant to that group in order to reach that group so group in order to reach that group so group in order to reach that group so how does that differ from your other how does that happening around the globe and that's happening around the globe and that's one of the things that we're real one of the things that we're real one of the things that we're real passion about we want to learn from the passion about we want to learn from the passion about we want to learn from the people who are doing things well here in people who are doing things well here in people who are doing things well here in America but also around the world America but also around the world America but also around the world because we're actually seeing around the because we're actually seeing around the because we're actually seeing around the world we're seeing movement world we're seeing movement world we're seeing movement multiplication movements happen around multiplication movements happen around multiplication movements happen around the world and much greater numbers like the world and much greater numbers like the world and much greater numbers like book of Acts kinds of stuff in him and book of Acts kinds of stuff in him and book of Acts kinds of stuff in him and in the Islamic world and things like in the Islamic world and things like in the Islamic world and things like that and we're not seeing as many of that and we're not seeing as many of that and we're not seeing as many of those things here in America so so we those things here in America so so we those things here in America so so we want to we want to learn for people want to we want to learn for people want to we want to learn for people around the world so spiritual around the world so spiritual around the world so spiritual multiplication the real world has been multiplication the real world has been multiplication the real world has been huge another book that's impacted us in huge another book that's
