role there role there yeah well i love where i'm at i'm my yeah well i love where i'm at i'm my yeah well i love where i'm at i'm my title would be executive pastor i got title would be executive pastor i got title would be executive pastor i got started on the early days i just showed started on the early days i just showed started on the early days i just showed up and started volunteering and then was up and started volunteering and then was up and started volunteering and then was hired full-time for part-time pay as hired full-time for part-time pay as hired full-time for part-time pay as many in ministry are but uh but kind of many in ministry are but uh but kind of many in ministry are but uh but kind of developed in my role so so executive developed in my role so so executive developed in my role so so executive pastor i oversee our launches we have pastor i oversee our launches we have pastor i oversee our launches we have eight locations which i help oversee all eight locations which i help oversee all eight locations which i help oversee all the campus pastors then i'm a campus the campus pastors then i'm a campus the campus pastors then i'm a campus pastor at one of our locations eight on pastor at one of our locations eight on pastor at one of our locations eight on barracks road it's about eight blocks barracks road it's about eight blocks barracks road it's about eight blocks from the capitol that's great um so from the capitol that's great um so from the capitol that's great um so awesome space it's the oldest theater in awesome space it's the oldest theater in awesome space it's the oldest theater in the district in dc the district in dc the district in dc um so really a fun space and then i help um so really a fun space and then i help um so really a fun space and then i help oversee our a18 missions as well oversee our a18 missions as well oversee our a18 missions as well and um and uh and our dream center and um and uh and our dream center and um and uh and our dream center project was which is coming so get my project was which is coming so get my project was which is coming so get my hands in a bunch of different places hands in a bunch of different places hands in a bunch of different places very cool well one of the things i love very cool well one of the things i love very cool well one of the things i love about ncc just as an outsider looking in about ncc just as an outsider looking in about ncc just as an outsider looking in is you know you really seem to have done is you know you really seem to have done is you know you really seem to have done a good job on kind of motivating people a good job on kind of motivating people a good job on kind of motivating people towards mission really to live out an towards mission really to live out an towards mission really to live out an active faith why don't you give us a active faith why don't you give us a active faith why don't you give us a sense of maybe the various ways that sense of maybe the various ways that sense of maybe the various ways that you've done that as a church how are you've done that as a church how are you've done that as a church how are people getting kind of plugged into people getting kind of plugged into people getting kind of plugged into living out their faith living out their faith living out their faith yeah you know i think our our passion yeah you know i think our our passion yeah you know i think our our passion comes out of our insufficiency sometimes comes out of our insufficiency sometimes comes out of our insufficiency sometimes right and so right and so right and so i think for me i grew up in the church i think for me i grew up in the church i think for me i grew up in the church but i was you know like the old but i was you know like the old but i was you know like the old testament calls this certain sect god testament calls this certain sect god testament calls this certain sect god fears right there they're people who had fears right there they're people who had fears right there they're people who had respect for god but they weren't respect for god but they weren't respect for god but they weren't like the holy remnant the people who are like the holy remnant the people who are like the holy remnant the people who are really active in their faith that was me really active in their faith that was me really active in their faith that was me for 18 years

for 18 years for 18 years and and then i hit this point where i and and then i hit this point where i and and then i hit this point where i started seeking god in a new way started seeking god in a new way started seeking god in a new way um and it changed my life and and that's um and it changed my life and and that's um and it changed my life and and that's when i felt a call into ministry when i felt a call into ministry when i felt a call into ministry um so i lived kind of this lukewarm um so i lived kind of this lukewarm um so i lived kind of this lukewarm lifestyle for 18 plus years and so for lifestyle for 18 plus years and so for lifestyle for 18 plus years and so for me i have a passion for those who might me i have a passion for those who might me i have a passion for those who might know god or respect god know god or respect god know god or respect god um but don't experience the fullness of um but don't experience the fullness of um but don't experience the fullness of life in him life in him life in him and i feel a passion to to kind of call and i feel a passion to to kind of call and i feel a passion to to kind of call us out in a coach type way right like us out in a coach type way right like us out in a coach type way right like come on like we got this let's do this come on like we got this let's do this come on like we got this let's do this yeah um so we have a you know uh we have yeah um so we have a you know uh we have yeah um so we have a you know uh we have eight locations we have people who come eight locations we have people who come eight locations we have people who come man i i think um and i hope this doesn't man i i think um and i hope this doesn't man i i think um and i hope this doesn't come across the wrong way but but we i come across the wrong way but but we i come across the wrong way but but we i love our our music guys our worship guys love our our music guys our worship guys love our our music guys our worship guys are incredible um pastor mark would be are incredible um pastor mark would be are incredible um pastor mark would be our primary communicator mark patterson our primary communicator mark patterson our primary communicator mark patterson incredible speaker incredible speaker incredible speaker so you can show up on a weekend so you can show up on a weekend so you can show up on a weekend and you can enjoy it like going to a and you can enjoy it like going to a and you can enjoy it like going to a good show good show good show home and get something out of it and go home and get something out of it and go home and get something out of it and go away and feel good about yourself pat away and feel good about yourself pat away and feel good about yourself pat yourself on the back one of my biggest yourself on the back one of my biggest yourself on the back one of my biggest fears as a pastor is that people would fears as a pastor is that people would fears as a pastor is that people would live in the entertainment value live in the entertainment value live in the entertainment value of what we bring to the table of what we bring to the table of what we bring to the table and and and my passion is to drive us past that you my passion is to drive us past that you my passion is to drive us past that you know how do we go from information to know how do we go from information to know how do we go from information to transformation that's my calling right transformation that's my calling right transformation that's my calling right there there there dave a guy named dave biering talks dave a guy named dave biering talks dave a guy named dave biering talks about this the difference between about this the difference between about this the difference between information and transformation is information and transformation is information and transformation is obedience obedience obedience so how do i help people drive towards

so how do i help people drive towards so how do i help people drive towards um obedience so that's um obedience so that's um obedience so that's that's kind of where the maybe the that's kind of where the maybe the that's kind of where the maybe the passion comes from passion comes from passion comes from i guess in terms of practicals and and i i guess in terms of practicals and and i i guess in terms of practicals and and i don't know maybe i'm taking off your don't know maybe i'm taking off your don't know maybe i'm taking off your rich no no this is great this is perfect rich no no this is great this is perfect rich no no this is great this is perfect keep going keep going this is great okay keep going keep going this is great okay keep going keep going this is great okay so so practicals for me one how are we so so practicals for me one how are we so so practicals for me one how are we teaching about it teaching about it teaching about it okay how does our teaching okay how does our teaching okay how does our teaching uh kind of lead us into that so um and uh kind of lead us into that so um and uh kind of lead us into that so um and this would be a quick real theological this would be a quick real theological this would be a quick real theological jump so um mission for us so starting jump so um mission for us so starting jump so um mission for us so starting with jesus very first words in luke with jesus very first words in luke with jesus very first words in luke chapter four um the spirit anoints jesus chapter four um the spirit anoints jesus chapter four um the spirit anoints jesus to go and preach good news to the poor to go and preach good news to the poor to go and preach good news to the poor to set the captives free to proclaim the to set the captives free to proclaim the to set the captives free to proclaim the year of the lord's favor and you know year of the lord's favor and you know year of the lord's favor and you know and that's not a full quote but just a and that's not a full quote but just a and that's not a full quote but just a quick uh it's his first words it's his quick uh it's his first words it's his quick uh it's his first words it's his public address it's his his first press public address it's his his first press public address it's his his first press conference coming out and he sets this conference coming out and he sets this conference coming out and he sets this agenda and he identifies agenda and he identifies agenda and he identifies uh needs he identifies uh needs he identifies uh needs he identifies poverty within that he identifies poverty within that he identifies poverty within that he identifies kind of kind of kind of health issues and then brokenness health issues and then brokenness health issues and then brokenness and so we start in the first words of and so we start in the first words of and so we start in the first words of acts four okay how do we address those acts four okay how do we address those acts four okay how do we address those things and we break it down uh just with things and we break it down uh just with things and we break it down uh just with a simple acronym act so assist the poor a simple acronym act so assist the poor a simple acronym act so assist the poor care forces that care for the sick care forces that care for the sick care forces that care for the sick transformed through reconciliation i transformed through reconciliation i transformed through reconciliation i mean jesus there's two thousand verses mean jesus there's two thousand verses mean jesus there's two thousand verses on poverty on poverty on poverty um there's a third of jesus ministry is um there's a third of jesus ministry is um there's a third of jesus ministry is healthcare healthcare healthcare and then the reason he comes is as the and then the reason he comes is as the and then the reason he comes is as the ultimate reconciler of us to god so he ultimate reconciler of us to god so he ultimate reconciler of us to god so he lays this agenda out in his first words lays this agenda out in his first words lays this agenda out in his first words his last words are found in acts 1 8

his last words are found in acts 1 8 his last words are found in acts 1 8 where you will receive power when the where you will receive power when the where you will receive power when the holy spirit comes upon you you be my holy spirit comes upon you you be my holy spirit comes upon you you be my witnesses in jerusalem judea and samara witnesses in jerusalem judea and samara witnesses in jerusalem judea and samara to the end of the earth so he breaks it to the end of the earth so he breaks it to the end of the earth so he breaks it down by giving us the strategy then okay down by giving us the strategy then okay down by giving us the strategy then okay where do i go well first i don't just go where do i go well first i don't just go where do i go well first i don't just go i'm set with the like the presence of i'm set with the like the presence of i'm set with the like the presence of god be comes before his power so i've god be comes before his power so i've god be comes before his power so i've got to get in him first but then got to get in him first but then got to get in him first but then secondly when we're in him we have to secondly when we're in him we have to secondly when we're in him we have to become active become active become active so jerusalem our you know where where am so jerusalem our you know where where am so jerusalem our you know where where am i now and then some area and jude and i now and then some area and jude and i now and then some area and jude and samaria is is where does nobody want to samaria is is where does nobody want to samaria is is where does nobody want to go and then the end of the earth is go and then the end of the earth is go and then the end of the earth is where has nobody gone where has nobody gone where has nobody gone so how are we engaging on these three so how are we engaging on these three so how are we engaging on these three levels and then right in the middle of levels and then right in the middle of levels and then right in the middle of that is this matthew 28. all authority that is this matthew 28. all authority that is this matthew 28. all authority in heaven and earth has been given to me in heaven and earth has been given to me in heaven and earth has been given to me jesus says jesus says jesus says now go a translation can uh can be as now go a translation can uh can be as now go a translation can uh can be as you are going in other words how are you you are going in other words how are you you are going in other words how are you living and this is this is hard stuff living and this is this is hard stuff living and this is this is hard stuff for me this is passion stuff this is a for me this is passion stuff this is a for me this is passion stuff this is a wheelhouse for me um how are you living wheelhouse for me um how are you living wheelhouse for me um how are you living life on mission life on mission life on mission every day wherever whenever so as you every day wherever whenever so as you every day wherever whenever so as you are going are going are going uh go and make a disciples of all uh go and make a disciples of all uh go and make a disciples of all nations ethnos ethnicity people so for nations ethnos ethnicity people so for nations ethnos ethnicity people so for us in dc we have we have 150 people us in dc we have we have 150 people us in dc we have we have 150 people groups in this city so we are fulfilling groups in this city so we are fulfilling groups in this city so we are fulfilling great commission in our city amen going great commission in our city amen going great commission in our city amen going into georgetown it's different than into georgetown it's different than into georgetown it's different than capitol hill into southeast dc and the u capitol hill into southeast dc and the u capitol hill into southeast dc and the u street corridor dizzy gillespie and street corridor dizzy gillespie and street corridor dizzy gillespie and louis armstrong that's the old louis armstrong that's the old louis armstrong that's the old jazz part of the city so um so you've jazz part of the city so um so you've jazz part of the city so um so you've got we've kind of lived in these three

got we've kind of lived in these three got we've kind of lived in these three scriptures to talk about action and scriptures to talk about action and scriptures to talk about action and faith that would be the teaching part faith that would be the teaching part faith that would be the teaching part second would be maybe modeling it second would be maybe modeling it second would be maybe modeling it am i living it personally am i living it personally am i living it personally i've got a group of guys i meet early i've got a group of guys i meet early i've got a group of guys i meet early morning with tuesday morning we're going morning with tuesday morning we're going morning with tuesday morning we're going through the scriptures but one of the through the scriptures but one of the through the scriptures but one of the things i am held accountable we have a things i am held accountable we have a things i am held accountable we have a covenant for all our leaders covenant for all our leaders covenant for all our leaders and one line is there how are you and one line is there how are you and one line is there how are you sharing your faith with with those who sharing your faith with with those who sharing your faith with with those who don't know christ so i i have those guys don't know christ so i i have those guys don't know christ so i i have those guys hold me accountable to that hold me accountable to that hold me accountable to that um so how do we love our neighbor um so how do we love our neighbor um so how do we love our neighbor um who's your neighbor is that kind of um who's your neighbor is that kind of um who's your neighbor is that kind of you know bible college or seminary you know bible college or seminary you know bible college or seminary question but we're not in seminary we're question but we're not in seminary we're question but we're not in seminary we're living outside of that um so neighbor living outside of that um so neighbor living outside of that um so neighbor for me you've got marketplace neighbors for me you've got marketplace neighbors for me you've got marketplace neighbors you've got workplace you've got um you you've got workplace you've got um you you've got workplace you've got um you know kind of special interest neighbors know kind of special interest neighbors know kind of special interest neighbors so for me so for me so for me what does it look like in my what does it look like in my what does it look like in my neighborhood what does it look like at neighborhood what does it look like at neighborhood what does it look like at my gym what does it look like in my home my gym what does it look like in my home my gym what does it look like in my home what does it look like in my church what does it look like in my church what does it look like in my church and i'm held accountable to those four and i'm held accountable to those four and i'm held accountable to those four areas areas areas wake up in the morning my first neighbor wake up in the morning my first neighbor wake up in the morning my first neighbor six inches away from me is my wife six inches away from me is my wife six inches away from me is my wife that's that's that's just falling right and then i got you just falling right and then i got you just falling right and then i got you know three distractions three blessings know three distractions three blessings know three distractions three blessings you know three little kids you know three little kids you know three little kids um but then my neighborhood yeah um um but then my neighborhood yeah um um but then my neighborhood yeah um we're active we're active we're active uh and then my gym as well man i'm uh and then my gym as well man i'm uh and then my gym as well man i'm when i'm not getting in fights on the when i'm not getting in fights on the when i'm not getting in fights on the ball court ball court ball court i'm trying to share faith so i've got to i'm trying to share faith so i've got to i'm trying to share faith so i've got to model it model it model it and that goes hand in hand with teaching and that goes hand in hand with teaching and that goes hand in hand with teaching on it so in my teaching on it so in my teaching on it so in my teaching i'm always talking about right my i'm always talking about right my i'm always talking about right my neighborhood and my gym and things like neighborhood and my gym and things like neighborhood and my gym and things like that absolutely so i'd say teach it that absolutely so i'd say teach it that absolutely so i'd say teach it model it tag team is a huge one for us

i mean he didn't proclaim it and then i mean he didn't proclaim it and then not live it i mean his life was the not live it i mean his life was the not live it i mean his life was the ultimate apologetic i think for us ultimate apologetic i think for us ultimate apologetic i think for us um um um and so for us to remove the information and so for us to remove the information and so for us to remove the information from the life like from the life like from the life like oh man it's it's uh you know dorothy oh man it's it's uh you know dorothy oh man it's it's uh you know dorothy sayers it's declawing the lion of judah sayers it's declawing the lion of judah sayers it's declawing the lion of judah right um it's it's making it docile um right um it's it's making it docile um right um it's it's making it docile um and again that's that's fear stuff for and again that's that's fear stuff for and again that's that's fear stuff for me so me so me so um um um yeah how are we engaging people so that yeah how are we engaging people so that yeah how are we engaging people so that our our small groups are built around our our small groups are built around our our small groups are built around that that that um we've got um we've got um we've got and our our intentional efforts into and our our intentional efforts into and our our intentional efforts into mission we've got i think 38 mission we've got i think 38 mission we've got i think 38 missions this coming year where we try missions this coming year where we try missions this coming year where we try to so for us like to so for us like to so for us like and and you know we can't you can't and and you know we can't you can't and and you know we can't you can't separate like discipleship and mission separate like discipleship and mission separate like discipleship and mission and in our opinion yeah um and in our opinion yeah um and in our opinion yeah um so our mission trips are most int we i so our mission trips are most int we i so our mission trips are most int we i call them idt's intense discipleship call them idt's intense discipleship call them idt's intense discipleship training they're a most intense form of training they're a most intense form of training they're a most intense form of give me give me a week-long mission trip give me give me a week-long mission trip give me give me a week-long mission trip with somebody versus a year of them with somebody versus a year of them with somebody versus a year of them coming to our church because voice that coming to our church because voice that coming to our church because voice that i have and the proclamation that is made i have and the proclamation that is made i have and the proclamation that is made and the obedience that happens right and the obedience that happens right and the obedience that happens right like something clicks in people's faith like something clicks in people's faith like something clicks in people's faith when you put it into action yeah um so when you put it into action yeah um so when you put it into action yeah um so yeah that would be my yeah that would be my yeah that would be my tag team talk to me about that how is it tag team talk to me about that how is it tag team talk to me about that how is it that you kind of work together and kind that you kind of work together and kind that you kind of work together and kind of encourage people to work together in of encourage people to work together in of encourage people to work together in in in faith in in faith in in faith yeah so one of our mantras um yeah so one of our mantras um yeah so one of our mantras um at ncc would be at ncc would be at ncc would be uh we want to help you be a part of uh uh we want to help you be a part of uh uh we want to help you be a part of uh the dream that god has given us as a the dream that god has given us as a the dream that god has given us as a church church church i think for most churches and that i've

i think for most churches and that i've i think for most churches and that i've been in is that's kind of where we stop been in is that's kind of where we stop been in is that's kind of where we stop okay you know how do you get involved in okay you know how do you get involved in okay you know how do you get involved in in our stuff we are and what we're doing in our stuff we are and what we're doing in our stuff we are and what we're doing right but we kind of take it that next right but we kind of take it that next right but we kind of take it that next step so step so step so um we also say and and we want as a um we also say and and we want as a um we also say and and we want as a church to be a part of the dream that church to be a part of the dream that church to be a part of the dream that god has given you god has given you god has given you okay so that's what whether it's small okay so that's what whether it's small okay so that's what whether it's small groups like we don't say groups like we don't say groups like we don't say we need this bible study group we need we need this bible study group we need we need this bible study group we need this one we need this sermon series we this one we need this sermon series we this one we need this sermon series we we say everybody has a group in them we say everybody has a group in them we say everybody has a group in them now how can we get behind you same thing now how can we get behind you same thing now how can we get behind you same thing with mission so like we do something with mission so like we do something with mission so like we do something called second saturday serve called second saturday serve called second saturday serve it's not our initiatives that we come up it's not our initiatives that we come up it's not our initiatives that we come up with we say listen we're gonna get out with we say listen we're gonna get out with we say listen we're gonna get out and serve and bless our community um now and serve and bless our community um now and serve and bless our community um now what dream has god given you what dream has god given you what dream has god given you you come up with it we're going to you come up with it we're going to you come up with it we're going to empower you we're going to give you empower you we're going to give you empower you we're going to give you people to go out and serve people to go out and serve people to go out and serve so that's how we've engaged in like the so that's how we've engaged in like the so that's how we've engaged in like the capital pregnancy center where we're capital pregnancy center where we're capital pregnancy center where we're serving you know 19 year old girls who serving you know 19 year old girls who serving you know 19 year old girls who are pregnant have nowhere to turn that's are pregnant have nowhere to turn that's are pregnant have nowhere to turn that's why we go to the youth services center why we go to the youth services center why we go to the youth services center kids who are in in jail kids who are in in jail kids who are in in jail because of something they don't these because of something they don't these because of something they don't these are all passions that have are all passions that have are all passions that have these are dreams that god has given these are dreams that god has given these are dreams that god has given different people that we said no don't different people that we said no don't different people that we said no don't just come along and just come along and just come along and serve in this one ministry we're serve in this one ministry we're serve in this one ministry we're limiting the gospel being spread in our limiting the gospel being spread in our limiting the gospel being spread in our city no we know city no we know city no we know you can benefit if you come alongside us you can benefit if you come alongside us you can benefit if you come alongside us but we want to come alongside you but we want to come alongside you but we want to come alongside you and so that would be in terms of tag and so that would be in terms of tag and so that would be in terms of tag teaming um i think just that idea that teaming um i think just that idea that teaming um i think just that idea that we're trying to do this thing together we're trying to do this thing together we're trying to do this thing together and walk alongside one another
