we are part of the Christian missionary we are part of the Christian missionary lines so we're as much as you're lines so we're as much as you're lines so we're as much as you're affiliated denomination that give us affiliated denomination that give us affiliated denomination that give us quite a bit obviously freedom and quite a bit obviously freedom and quite a bit obviously freedom and different expressions and stuff like different expressions and stuff like different expressions and stuff like that but gateway was planted a few that but gateway was planted a few that but gateway was planted a few decades ago but there's been two pastors decades ago but there's been two pastors decades ago but there's been two pastors in total and Martin ma the lead that I in total and Martin ma the lead that I in total and Martin ma the lead that I work with came to gateway about eight work with came to gateway about eight work with came to gateway about eight years ago and he's originally from the years ago and he's originally from the years ago and he's originally from the UK is Scottish and so I'm not not UK is Scottish and so I'm not not UK is Scottish and so I'm not not accustomed to a denominational structure accustomed to a denominational structure accustomed to a denominational structure and so one of the one of the interesting and so one of the one of the interesting and so one of the one of the interesting things that we get to play with is if he things that we get to play with is if he things that we get to play with is if he gets to see things a little bit gets to see things a little bit gets to see things a little bit differently both being not Canadian not differently both being not Canadian not differently both being not Canadian not in this context and being in a very in this context and being in a very in this context and being in a very post-christian and post-christian and post-christian and and now revival I guess he kind of got and now revival I guess he kind of got and now revival I guess he kind of got saved to the house church movement in in saved to the house church movement in in saved to the house church movement in in the UK a few decades ago and so part of the UK a few decades ago and so part of the UK a few decades ago and so part of the revival movement and and yeah and so the revival movement and and yeah and so the revival movement and and yeah and so he came to Edmonton he looked at taking he came to Edmonton he looked at taking he came to Edmonton he looked at taking over this church it was a church plant over this church it was a church plant over this church it was a church plant originally and and he yeah so the cool originally and and he yeah so the cool originally and and he yeah so the cool thing about when Martin came into this thing about when Martin came into this thing about when Martin came into this is that like I said that he saw things a is that like I said that he saw things a is that like I said that he saw things a little bit differently than most people little bit differently than most people little bit differently than most people and one of the areas that that he saw in and one of the areas that that he saw in and one of the areas that that he saw in that was a lot of the you know ethnic that was a lot of the you know ethnic that was a lot of the you know ethnic groups the New Age the D church beyond groups the New Age the D church beyond groups the New Age the D church beyond church so it's kind of been a hard for church so it's kind of been a hard for church so it's kind of been a hard for him and a lot of things that maybe the him and a lot of things that maybe the him and a lot of things that maybe the church isn't accustomed to dealing with church isn't accustomed to dealing with church isn't accustomed to dealing with in a lot of times but a big a big part in a lot of times but a big a big part in a lot of times but a big a big part of the story of gateway was through the of the story of gateway was through the of the story of gateway was through the transition of are the two pastors of

transition of are the two pastors of transition of are the two pastors of planting pastor and Martin the church planting pastor and Martin the church planting pastor and Martin the church went in a decline and when the quite went in a decline and when the quite went in a decline and when the quite quite a huge decline financially quite a huge decline financially quite a huge decline financially attendance support and all that stuff attendance support and all that stuff attendance support and all that stuff one of the advantages of being a part of one of the advantages of being a part of one of the advantages of being a part of a denomination obviously that they were a denomination obviously that they were a denomination obviously that they were there to support but when Martin came in there to support but when Martin came in there to support but when Martin came in you know the church was was was on the you know the church was was was on the you know the church was was was on the brink of closing its doors Wow and so brink of closing its doors Wow and so brink of closing its doors Wow and so yeah so there was yeah it was it was yeah so there was yeah it was it was yeah so there was yeah it was it was pretty dire that way and when Martin pretty dire that way and when Martin pretty dire that way and when Martin came in it was definitely an uphill came in it was definitely an uphill came in it was definitely an uphill battle for sure but in in the first battle for sure but in in the first battle for sure but in in the first couple years they doubled and then couple years they doubled and then couple years they doubled and then doubled again from there and so yeah so doubled again from there and so yeah so doubled again from there and so yeah so that was kind of a kind of a rebirth so that was kind of a kind of a rebirth so that was kind of a kind of a rebirth so I mean it was there is definitely an I mean it was there is definitely an I mean it was there is definitely an original congregation that was there original congregation that was there original congregation that was there there was there still the core there's there was there still the core there's there was there still the core there's still a core group of people that were still a core group of people that were still a core group of people that were there from the beginning but as a church there from the beginning but as a church there from the beginning but as a church goes from the beginning toward is now goes from the beginning toward is now goes from the beginning toward is now there is almost like a rebirth or almost there is almost like a rebirth or almost there is almost like a rebirth or almost a replanting and but with the people a replanting and but with the people a replanting and but with the people that were there you know with a new that were there you know with a new that were there you know with a new vision moving forward loads of you know vision moving forward loads of you know vision moving forward loads of you know young families young adults a lot of young families young adults a lot of young families young adults a lot of different ethnicities a lot of different different ethnicities a lot of different different ethnicities a lot of different like I said unsure d church new age like I said unsure d church new age like I said unsure d church new age which obviously is very interesting and which obviously is very interesting and which obviously is very interesting and exciting but the same time has its own exciting but the same time has its own exciting but the same time has its own you know complications or not you know complications or not you know complications or not complications but its own you know complications but its own you know complications but its own you know and growing pain to the famine stuff and growing pain to the famine stuff and growing pain to the famine stuff like that absolutely what was before we like that absolutely what was before we like that absolutely what was before we kind of pit and talk about you know how
