some droughts around maybe and there's some droughts around maybe and there's some floods in other places some floods in other places some floods in other places um fertilizer we've been doing synthetic um fertilizer we've been doing synthetic um fertilizer we've been doing synthetic fertilizer for a long time from the fertilizer for a long time from the fertilizer for a long time from the famous that maybe unknown to our famous that maybe unknown to our famous that maybe unknown to our audience The Haven Bosch process to audience The Haven Bosch process to audience The Haven Bosch process to create synthetic fertilizer we use lots create synthetic fertilizer we use lots create synthetic fertilizer we use lots of our fossil fuels it takes a lot of of our fossil fuels it takes a lot of of our fossil fuels it takes a lot of energy it actually takes I read five energy it actually takes I read five energy it actually takes I read five percent of all natural gas on the planet percent of all natural gas on the planet percent of all natural gas on the planet is used for this process to create is used for this process to create is used for this process to create synthetic fertilizer you know the whole synthetic fertilizer you know the whole synthetic fertilizer you know the whole it's all the nitrogen thing right and it's all the nitrogen thing right and it's all the nitrogen thing right and ammonia ammonia ammonia the only reason we're able to feed the the only reason we're able to feed the the only reason we're able to feed the population we have today is actually population we have today is actually population we have today is actually because of that process uh to get the because of that process uh to get the because of that process uh to get the growth we've had and all the other growth we've had and all the other growth we've had and all the other things and genetically modifying stuff things and genetically modifying stuff things and genetically modifying stuff uh so it's really interesting uh so it's really interesting uh so it's really interesting um they've been here with lots of um they've been here with lots of um they've been here with lots of researchers from universities uh people researchers from universities uh people researchers from universities uh people who are farmers people in the space who are farmers people in the space who are farmers people in the space um and so we feel like we may have run um and so we feel like we may have run um and so we feel like we may have run out of gas there's this thing called Gem out of gas there's this thing called Gem out of gas there's this thing called Gem Gem the G is for genetics and you know Gem the G is for genetics and you know Gem the G is for genetics and you know we've been tinkering with the genetics we've been tinkering with the genetics we've been tinkering with the genetics of crops for a long time obviously Eric of crops for a long time obviously Eric of crops for a long time obviously Eric knows about this being in Illinois knows about this being in Illinois knows about this being in Illinois Illinois is a big row crop State Illinois is a big row crop State Illinois is a big row crop State um and so to feed more people to produce um and so to feed more people to produce um and so to feed more people to produce more people to make hardier more people to make hardier more people to make hardier crops that can survive in weird crops that can survive in weird crops that can survive in weird environments and so you know and so but environments and so you know and so but environments and so you know and so but we've kind of run out of gas on the we've kind of run out of gas on the we've kind of run out of gas on the genetic side the E stands for genetic side the E stands for genetic side the E stands for environment and so that's sunlight water environment and so that's sunlight water environment and so that's sunlight water the weather which you can't control and the weather which you can't control and the weather which you can't control and things like that and then m is things like that and then m is things like that and then m is management and so you can imagine now
