They all have. Someone touched me. They all have. Someone touched me. They all have. Someone touched me. So I think this is interesting he says So I think this is interesting he says So I think this is interesting he says who touched me. Now, I would I would say who touched me. Now, I would I would say who touched me. Now, I would I would say theologically Jesus knew who touched theologically Jesus knew who touched theologically Jesus knew who touched him, but he wanted them to say and him, but he wanted them to say and him, but he wanted them to say and proclaim proclaim proclaim that they touched him. Um and I think that they touched him. Um and I think that they touched him. Um and I think this goes to show how as Christians we this goes to show how as Christians we this goes to show how as Christians we must be outward going in our belief. Um must be outward going in our belief. Um must be outward going in our belief. Um and to actually, you know, proclaim the and to actually, you know, proclaim the and to actually, you know, proclaim the words Jesus is Lord as it speaks about words Jesus is Lord as it speaks about words Jesus is Lord as it speaks about does have meaning. I mean that that's does have meaning. I mean that that's does have meaning. I mean that that's quite a I guess in a way a Catholic quite a I guess in a way a Catholic quite a I guess in a way a Catholic approach to it. In in a way the approach to it. In in a way the approach to it. In in a way the sacraments and sacraments and sacraments and doing things actually is part of your doing things actually is part of your doing things actually is part of your faith. But it's interesting he says who faith. But it's interesting he says who faith. But it's interesting he says who touched me cuz I think he definitely touched me cuz I think he definitely touched me cuz I think he definitely does know who touched him. does know who touched him. does know who touched him. Um but I'm not a theologian. So maybe Um but I'm not a theologian. So maybe Um but I'm not a theologian. So maybe I'm wrong. Maybe he doesn't know. Um I'm wrong. Maybe he doesn't know. Um I'm wrong. Maybe he doesn't know. Um yeah, we'll see. Just a piece of your yeah, we'll see. Just a piece of your yeah, we'll see. Just a piece of your garment, only the edge. I promise. You garment, only the edge. I promise. You garment, only the edge. I promise. You are not unclean.

  4. Why my garment? Why my garment? I'm sorry. I know I should have asked, I'm sorry. I know I should have asked, I'm sorry. I know I should have asked, but if if you touched me, it would make but if if you touched me, it would make but if if you touched me, it would make you ritually unclean according to the you ritually unclean according to the you ritually unclean according to the law. law. law. I was sick. I was sick for 12 I was sick. I was sick for 12 I was sick. I was sick for 12 I bled and and and no one could stop it. I bled and and and no one could stop it. I bled and and and no one could stop it. But but I believed if I could just touch But but I believed if I could just touch But but I believed if I could just touch a piece of your garment a piece of your garment a piece of your garment and I was right. and I was right. and I was right. Thank you. Who told you I could heal? Who told you I could heal? A man from the pool. A man from the pool. A man from the pool. And he was right. And he was right. And he was right. The blood has ceased. How beautiful is that? I mean that How beautiful is that? I mean that really is I mean there's I think that is really is I mean there's I think that is really is I mean there's I think that is on so many levels is beautiful because on so many levels is beautiful because on so many levels is beautiful because it also in that Jewish society if a it also in that Jewish society if a it also in that Jewish society if a woman was bleeding on her period or woman was bleeding on her period or woman was bleeding on her period or I mean she was constantly bleeding. Um I mean she was constantly bleeding. Um I mean she was constantly bleeding. Um so she obviously had some issue. But for so she obviously had some issue. But for so she obviously had some issue. But for a man to touch them was a man to touch them was a man to touch them was I mean that was like hope that you were I mean that was like hope that you were I mean that was like hope that you were frowned upon for doing that. And it just frowned upon for doing that. And it just frowned upon for doing that. And it just goes to show how unbelievably goes to show how unbelievably goes to show how unbelievably radical Jesus was. You know, you you see

  5. radical Jesus was. You know, you you see radical Jesus was. You know, you you see the the high priests there part of the the the high priests there part of the the the high priests there part of the Jewish Sanhedrin being like not to touch Jewish Sanhedrin being like not to touch Jewish Sanhedrin being like not to touch her and Jesus is like no. And it I think her and Jesus is like no. And it I think her and Jesus is like no. And it I think it's an off it's a very interesting it's an off it's a very interesting it's an off it's a very interesting thing cuz often we think about Jesus in thing cuz often we think about Jesus in thing cuz often we think about Jesus in the kind of lovey-dovey way, but the kind of lovey-dovey way, but the kind of lovey-dovey way, but actually actually actually if you if you lived with Jesus, he must if you if you lived with Jesus, he must if you if you lived with Jesus, he must have been the most intimidating guy have been the most intimidating guy have been the most intimidating guy you've ever met, you know, cuz he would you've ever met, you know, cuz he would you've ever met, you know, cuz he would literally literally literally not play by the rules. He, you know, not play by the rules. He, you know, not play by the rules. He, you know, when when someone said, you know, do not when when someone said, you know, do not when when someone said, you know, do not go to this person, he he's like how dare go to this person, he he's like how dare go to this person, he he's like how dare you say that? You know, he he's the you say that? You know, he he's the you say that? You know, he he's the first person to go over to that person. first person to go over to that person. first person to go over to that person. When When When people were saying they want to, you people were saying they want to, you people were saying they want to, you know, overthrow the Romans, he's saying know, overthrow the Romans, he's saying know, overthrow the Romans, he's saying love your enemies. You know, when he love your enemies. You know, when he love your enemies. You know, when he says, you know, if someone hits you on says, you know, if someone hits you on says, you know, if someone hits you on one cheek, turn the other cheek. I mean one cheek, turn the other cheek. I mean one cheek, turn the other cheek. I mean it's he says what people don't want to it's he says what people don't want to it's he says what people don't want to hear, but his message is so powerful and hear, but his message is so powerful and hear, but his message is so powerful and radical that it just pierces people's radical that it just pierces people's radical that it just pierces people's hearts wherever he goes. And just what a hearts wherever he goes. And just what a hearts wherever he goes. And just what a scene of just saying to, scene of just saying to, scene of just saying to, you know, a woman who is probably viewed you know, a woman who is probably viewed you know, a woman who is probably viewed as scum of the earth in society and as scum of the earth in society and as scum of the earth in society and being like you are my daughter. You being like you are my daughter. You being like you are my daughter. You know, and it also shows the divinity of know, and it also shows the divinity of know, and it also shows the divinity of Jesus in in him viewing everyone as a Jesus in in him viewing everyone as a Jesus in in him viewing everyone as a son or daughter, you know, and I I think son or daughter, you know, and I I think son or daughter, you know, and I I think it's also how we should view everyone we it's also how we should view everyone we it's also how we should view everyone we ever meet as a son or daughter. It ever meet as a son or daughter. It ever meet as a son or daughter. It doesn't matter how how someone looks, doesn't matter how how someone looks, doesn't matter how how someone looks, you know?

  6. you know? you know? We we're so focused on how people look We we're so focused on how people look We we're so focused on how people look in society, but everyone is someone's in society, but everyone is someone's in society, but everyone is someone's daughter or son. And so it's very sad daughter or son. And so it's very sad daughter or son. And so it's very sad when you see someone who's lost their when you see someone who's lost their when you see someone who's lost their parents or their parents abandoned them, parents or their parents abandoned them, parents or their parents abandoned them, they're an orphan and they you know, they're an orphan and they you know, they're an orphan and they you know, they're just craving for belonging and they're just craving for belonging and they're just craving for belonging and identity and love. And what a just identity and love. And what a just identity and love. And what a just what a beautiful scene Jesus what a beautiful scene Jesus what a beautiful scene Jesus just saying look at me, you are my just saying look at me, you are my just saying look at me, you are my daughter. And the shame in her eyes and daughter. And the shame in her eyes and daughter. And the shame in her eyes and hatred of herself of being an outcast hatred of herself of being an outcast hatred of herself of being an outcast that nobody loves her. And I think that nobody loves her. And I think that nobody loves her. And I think that's that's the just unbelievably that's that's the just unbelievably that's that's the just unbelievably beautiful thing about Jesus' love, you beautiful thing about Jesus' love, you beautiful thing about Jesus' love, you know, it's not deserved. And I think know, it's not deserved. And I think know, it's not deserved. And I think it's something that we can't even it's something that we can't even it's something that we can't even comprehend in a way, you know? C.S. comprehend in a way, you know? C.S. comprehend in a way, you know? C.S. Lewis as I was talking about speaks Lewis as I was talking about speaks Lewis as I was talking about speaks about marriage being almost the glimmer about marriage being almost the glimmer about marriage being almost the glimmer of what that unconditional love is, you of what that unconditional love is, you of what that unconditional love is, you know, because to truly marry is to say, know, because to truly marry is to say, know, because to truly marry is to say, you know, no matter what happens, I'm you know, no matter what happens, I'm you know, no matter what happens, I'm never going to leave your side. I'm never going to leave your side. I'm never going to leave your side. I'm going to be with you to the end of time. going to be with you to the end of time. going to be with you to the end of time. I'm going to witness your whole life. Um I'm going to witness your whole life. Um I'm going to witness your whole life. Um yeah, I mean wow, I I find it so yeah, I mean wow, I I find it so yeah, I mean wow, I I find it so beautiful, really.

I know, but it wasn't this. Teacher, she was bleeding so long. We Teacher, she was bleeding so long. We can take her She is clean. I love that. She is clean. Just I love that. She is clean. Just lambasted lambasted lambasted the that the religious leader who is the that the religious leader who is the that the religious leader who is like, you know, we can she's unclean and like, you know, we can she's unclean and like, you know, we can she's unclean and Jesus is like, no, she is clean. And Jesus is like, no, she is clean. And Jesus is like, no, she is clean. And again, claiming that authority, claiming again, claiming that authority, claiming again, claiming that authority, claiming that divinity, I am God, she is clean. that divinity, I am God, she is clean. that divinity, I am God, she is clean. Um and just that strength and righteous Um and just that strength and righteous Um and just that strength and righteous anger, I think is so important um anger, I think is so important um anger, I think is so important um about, you know, stepping in there, about, you know, stepping in there, about, you know, stepping in there, being that person where someone says, you know, don't go where someone says, you know, don't go over to that person, don't talk to that over to that person, don't talk to that over to that person, don't talk to that person, don't do that.

  8. person, don't do that. person, don't do that. and brings them in because we're all one and brings them in because we're all one and brings them in because we're all one in Christ, you know, neither Jew nor in Christ, you know, neither Jew nor in Christ, you know, neither Jew nor Greek nor Gentile is Greek nor Gentile is Greek nor Gentile is separate in the kingdom of God, roughly separate in the kingdom of God, roughly separate in the kingdom of God, roughly speaking how Paul says it. my daughter, I know [music] it has been my daughter, I know [music] it has been a fight for you for so long. >> [music] >> [music] >> You must be >> You must be >> You must be exhausted. And it it's also the way that he holds her it it's also the way that he holds her it it's also the way that he holds her face and you know, I mean C.S. Lewis face and you know, I mean C.S. Lewis face and you know, I mean C.S. Lewis speaks about, you know, Christ died for speaks about, you know, Christ died for speaks about, you know, Christ died for you as if you were the only person in you as if you were the only person in you as if you were the only person in the world. And that's another thing I the world. And that's another thing I the world. And that's another thing I think us us mere mortals struggle to think us us mere mortals struggle to think us us mere mortals struggle to understand is and I I struggle with it understand is and I I struggle with it understand is and I I struggle with it all the time is the fact that all the time is the fact that all the time is the fact that Jesus knows you individually, inside Jesus knows you individually, inside Jesus knows you individually, inside out. God knows every little fiber, every out. God knows every little fiber, every out. God knows every little fiber, every crevice, every crevice, every crevice, every you know, atom, whatever, every little you know, atom, whatever, every little you know, atom, whatever, every little thought you're feeling. And the notion thought you're feeling. And the notion thought you're feeling. And the notion that you that you that you are just as important to God as another are just as important to God as another are just as important to God as another person, person, person, you know, because I think there's this, you know, because I think there's this, you know, because I think there's this, you know, pernicious self-hatred often you know, pernicious self-hatred often you know, pernicious self-hatred often we can fall into where we kind of think we can fall into where we kind of think we can fall into where we kind of think whatever it is, like we're different, whatever it is, like we're different, whatever it is, like we're different, you know, they you know, they you know, they they might be happy, they might have they might be happy, they might have they might be happy, they might have something, but in some weird way we're something, but in some weird way we're something, but in some weird way we're we're we're different than that. We we're we're different than that. We we're we're different than that. We don't quite deserve it. We don't um do don't quite deserve it. We don't um do don't quite deserve it. We don't um do what they do. We don't quite look what what they do. We don't quite look what what they do. We don't quite look what they do. We don't work as hard as they they do. We don't work as hard as they they do. We don't work as hard as they do. Um and this this riveting lie that do. Um and this this riveting lie that do. Um and this this riveting lie that um is so difficult to get out of often um is so difficult to get out of often um is so difficult to get out of often um um um to really understand and to think about to really understand and to think about to really understand and to think about God caring about you as if you were the God caring about you as if you were the God caring about you as if you were the only person on the planet. I just find only person on the planet. I just find only person on the planet. I just find it absolutely beautiful. And in this it absolutely beautiful. And in this it absolutely beautiful. And in this scene, you know, you just see a cry and

  10. scene, you know, you just see a cry and scene, you know, you just see a cry and it it it's like her whole life has been it it it's like her whole life has been it it it's like her whole life has been leading up to this moment and for once leading up to this moment and for once leading up to this moment and for once in her life she feels loved in her life she feels loved in her life she feels loved and and and appreciated. appreciated. appreciated. And And And yeah, it it's just it just screams yeah, it it's just it just screams yeah, it it's just it just screams at your heartstrings. It just rips it to at your heartstrings. It just rips it to at your heartstrings. It just rips it to shreds cuz it's like you we you know, shreds cuz it's like you we you know, shreds cuz it's like you we you know, we've all been there where all we want we've all been there where all we want we've all been there where all we want is just a bit of love, you know, and is just a bit of love, you know, and is just a bit of love, you know, and that is what makes the world go around. that is what makes the world go around. that is what makes the world go around. That's what makes life life, you know? That's what makes life life, you know? That's what makes life life, you know? And you know, all she wanted And you know, all she wanted And you know, all she wanted was to really be loved, you know. I'm was to really be loved, you know. I'm was to really be loved, you know. I'm sure that even with her disease of sure that even with her disease of sure that even with her disease of bleeding, you know, no one bleeding, you know, no one bleeding, you know, no one would touch her. She was viewed as would touch her. She was viewed as would touch her. She was viewed as weird, I'm sure, and kind of scummy and weird, I'm sure, and kind of scummy and weird, I'm sure, and kind of scummy and stuff. stuff. stuff. The end of the day, even if she had The end of the day, even if she had The end of the day, even if she had that, if she knew she was loved and had that, if she knew she was loved and had that, if she knew she was loved and had parents and parents and parents and you know, she'd be okay, but she wasn't you know, she'd be okay, but she wasn't you know, she'd be okay, but she wasn't and and and Jesus, you know, he didn't come to the Jesus, you know, he didn't come to the Jesus, you know, he didn't come to the people who had it together at all. He people who had it together at all. He people who had it together at all. He went to the absolute inverse of them, went to the absolute inverse of them, went to the absolute inverse of them, you know? Like Jesus was a poor man from you know? Like Jesus was a poor man from you know? Like Jesus was a poor man from a poor place a poor place a poor place and went to the nobodies of society. And and went to the nobodies of society. And and went to the nobodies of society. And I I think with the gospel message we I I think with the gospel message we I I think with the gospel message we always got to remember that cuz it's always got to remember that cuz it's always got to remember that cuz it's easy in our kind of lives, especially easy in our kind of lives, especially easy in our kind of lives, especially when we're wealthy, to kind of take the when we're wealthy, to kind of take the when we're wealthy, to kind of take the gospel message in a way we want it, you gospel message in a way we want it, you gospel message in a way we want it, you know? Yeah, be kind, give to charity, know? Yeah, be kind, give to charity, know? Yeah, be kind, give to charity, look out for one another.

  11. look out for one another. look out for one another. But, you know, Jesus is saying here, you But, you know, Jesus is saying here, you But, you know, Jesus is saying here, you know, the people who are viewed as know, the people who are viewed as know, the people who are viewed as literal scum are the people who I'm literal scum are the people who I'm literal scum are the people who I'm going to go for. I'm not going to go for going to go for. I'm not going to go for going to go for. I'm not going to go for someone who's got it together. I'm not someone who's got it together. I'm not someone who's got it together. I'm not going to go it for the ones that people going to go it for the ones that people going to go it for the ones that people think are, you know, everything and have think are, you know, everything and have think are, you know, everything and have it all together, have the money, have it all together, have the money, have it all together, have the money, have the looks, have the power, have the the looks, have the power, have the the looks, have the power, have the wife, the husband, whatever. He He goes wife, the husband, whatever. He He goes wife, the husband, whatever. He He goes to the inversions of those people. And to the inversions of those people. And to the inversions of those people. And in the gospel, especially in church in the gospel, especially in church in the gospel, especially in church nowadays, this is so often forgotten, I nowadays, this is so often forgotten, I nowadays, this is so often forgotten, I think, the radicalness of it. I just think, the radicalness of it. I just think, the radicalness of it. I just think that all There's got to be a think that all There's got to be a think that all There's got to be a constant reinforcement of the radical of constant reinforcement of the radical of constant reinforcement of the radical of this of it. And it's like, you know, this of it. And it's like, you know, this of it. And it's like, you know, we're all we're all wimps in a way cuz we're all we're all wimps in a way cuz we're all we're all wimps in a way cuz like we we you know, we see not like we we you know, we see not like we we you know, we see not everyone. There's some incredible, you everyone. There's some incredible, you everyone. There's some incredible, you know, Mother Teresa and everything. But know, Mother Teresa and everything. But know, Mother Teresa and everything. But like that you know, it's like you see like that you know, it's like you see like that you know, it's like you see you see someone you see someone you see someone hurting on the train or whatever and you hurting on the train or whatever and you hurting on the train or whatever and you don't go up to them because maybe you don't go up to them because maybe you don't go up to them because maybe you think they'll perceive you as a weirdo think they'll perceive you as a weirdo think they'll perceive you as a weirdo or you meet someone and maybe they don't or you meet someone and maybe they don't or you meet someone and maybe they don't look beautiful in a stereotypical way, look beautiful in a stereotypical way, look beautiful in a stereotypical way, so you avoid talking to them because so you avoid talking to them because so you avoid talking to them because I don't know. You You don't want to be I don't know. You You don't want to be I don't know. You You don't want to be associated with them cuz you're scared associated with them cuz you're scared associated with them cuz you're scared of how it will look or like you know, it of how it will look or like you know, it of how it will look or like you know, it we're we're so it's so easy for us to we're we're so it's so easy for us to we're we're so it's so easy for us to come up with these fantasy excuses to come up with these fantasy excuses to come up with these fantasy excuses to not help someone, to not be there for not help someone, to not be there for not help someone, to not be there for someone. But you know, Jesus is saying someone. But you know, Jesus is saying someone. But you know, Jesus is saying you you know, you have to go to the you you know, you have to go to the you you know, you have to go to the people no one wants to speak to. They people no one wants to speak to. They people no one wants to speak to. They are the people you should be going out are the people you should be going out are the people you should be going out to. Um and it's why it's so incredible to. Um and it's why it's so incredible to. Um and it's why it's so incredible when people do that, you know, you hit when people do that, you know, you hit when people do that, you know, you hit you hear stories from the Holocaust in

  12. you hear stories from the Holocaust in you hear stories from the Holocaust in Auschwitz of I mean, I remember a famous Auschwitz of I mean, I remember a famous Auschwitz of I mean, I remember a famous Jewish man who Jewish man who Jewish man who I mean, obviously believes in God, you I mean, obviously believes in God, you I mean, obviously believes in God, you know, the bedrock of Christianity is know, the bedrock of Christianity is know, the bedrock of Christianity is Judaism and um Judaism and um Judaism and um and I remember there was a I think it's and I remember there was a I think it's and I remember there was a I think it's a family or a mom who was going in to a family or a mom who was going in to a family or a mom who was going in to get gassed and he stepped forward to get gassed and he stepped forward to get gassed and he stepped forward to obviously take their place cuz he knew obviously take their place cuz he knew obviously take their place cuz he knew they were going to die or whatever. And they were going to die or whatever. And they were going to die or whatever. And just that level of radical kindness. And just that level of radical kindness. Key references include Jesus of Nazareth, his miracles, and the incident described in The Chosen. The practical takeaway is that Christians should be outward-going in their belief and proclaim Jesus as Lord.
