The worth that he is due, which of course is is everything due, which of course is is everything due, which of course is is everything because he's infinitely beautiful, because he's infinitely beautiful, because he's infinitely beautiful, infinitely wise, holy, righteous, infinitely wise, holy, righteous, infinitely wise, holy, righteous, perfect. Like we could go on and on perfect. Like we could go on and on perfect. Like we could go on and on about how wonderful he is. So, our right about how wonderful he is. So, our right response to that is complete and utter response to that is complete and utter response to that is complete and utter devotion, giving of our whole selves in devotion, giving of our whole selves in devotion, giving of our whole selves in all of life. But, according to that definition then, um according to that definition then, um according to that definition then, um you know, I think a lot of us tend to you know, I think a lot of us tend to you know, I think a lot of us tend to think that uh worship is is what we think that uh worship is is what we think that uh worship is is what we sing, right? That we that we sing in sing, right? That we that we sing in sing, right? That we that we sing in church on Sunday mornings or we listen church on Sunday mornings or we listen church on Sunday mornings or we listen to, um you know, when we're just going to, um you know, when we're just going to, um you know, when we're just going about our days that that's worship. And about our days that that's worship. And about our days that that's worship. And for those of us that cannot carry a for those of us that cannot carry a for those of us that cannot carry a tune, um I'm kind of excited to think tune, um I'm kind of excited to think tune, um I'm kind of excited to think about it as uh more than, you know, more about it as uh more than, you know, more about it as uh more than, you know, more of that than that. Even though I, you of that than that. Even though I, you of that than that. Even though I, you know, know, know, I can sing from the bottom of my toes, I can sing from the bottom of my toes, I can sing from the bottom of my toes, but nobody except the Lord appreciates but nobody except the Lord appreciates but nobody except the Lord appreciates it. You know, what was that praise song it. You know, what was that praise song it. You know, what was that praise song that was um you know, may it be a sweet that was um you know, may it be a sweet that was um you know, may it be a sweet sweet sound to your ear? That's a prayer sweet sound to your ear? That's a prayer sweet sound to your ear? That's a prayer that, you know, like when I sing that, that, you know, like when I sing that, that, you know, like when I sing that, I'm like, Lord, may it. May you somehow I'm like, Lord, may it. May you somehow I'm like, Lord, may it. May you somehow miraculously take this and make it a miraculously take this and make it a miraculously take this and make it a sweet sweet sound to your ears. I'm a very imperfect worshiper and I I'm a very imperfect worshiper and I I'm a very imperfect worshiper and I sometimes struggle with worshipping the sometimes struggle with worshipping the sometimes struggle with worshipping the wrong things. So, I'm going to try to wrong things. So, I'm going to try to wrong things. So, I'm going to try to give you like a nice example version, give you like a nice example version, give you like a nice example version, but know that it's it's certainly uh not but know that it's it's certainly uh not but know that it's it's certainly uh not perfect. But, I like to think of worship perfect. But, I like to think of worship perfect. But, I like to think of worship in kind of three big categories, again, in kind of three big categories, again, in kind of three big categories, again, outside of sort of what we do on Sunday, outside of sort of what we do on Sunday, outside of sort of what we do on Sunday, but worshiping through my words, my but worshiping through my words, my but worshiping through my words, my works, and my why. And so, throughout the day, I think thinking, okay, what the day, I think thinking, okay, what the day, I think thinking, okay, what does it look like to thank the Lord for does it look like to thank the Lord for does it look like to thank the Lord for something? What does it look like to something? What does it look like to something? What does it look like to give him credit or to give him praise or give him credit or to give him praise or give him credit or to give him praise or to recognize verbally or even through to recognize verbally or even through to recognize verbally or even through the words in my head, the narrative that the words in my head, the narrative that the words in my head, the narrative that I'm telling myself, um oh, this is from I'm telling myself, um oh, this is from I'm telling myself, um oh, this is from the Lord. Or um through my works, the the Lord. Or um through my works, the the Lord. Or um through my works, the things that I do. How am I doing this things that I do. How am I doing this things that I do. How am I doing this unto the Lord? My why, thinking about unto the Lord? My why, thinking about unto the Lord? My why, thinking about what my heart attitude is, um what my heart attitude is, um what my heart attitude is, um how I'm reflecting on the things that how I'm reflecting on the things that how I'm reflecting on the things that I'm pursuing in my life. So, I'm pursuing in my life. So, I'm pursuing in my life. So, wake up in the morning, um I think that wake up in the morning, um I think that wake up in the morning, um I think that I like to try to get in the word right I like to try to get in the word right I like to try to get in the word right away. Like, if my whole devotion in my away. Like, if my whole devotion in my away. Like, if my whole devotion in my life is lived unto the Lord, life is lived unto the Lord, life is lived unto the Lord, ideally, I try to give him, right, like ideally, I try to give him, right, like ideally, I try to give him, right, like the first fruits of my time and my

However, I also have a child who loves However, I also have a child who loves However, I also have a child who loves to get out of bed at the same time I do, to get out of bed at the same time I do, to get out of bed at the same time I do, and he like comes crawling into bed with and he like comes crawling into bed with and he like comes crawling into bed with me, but I view that as worship, too. me, but I view that as worship, too. me, but I view that as worship, too. Like, sometimes I I I like, okay, set Like, sometimes I I I like, okay, set Like, sometimes I I I like, okay, set aside my Bible and I just snuggle him, aside my Bible and I just snuggle him, aside my Bible and I just snuggle him, and I'm like, Lord, and I'm like, Lord, and I'm like, Lord, this is a way that I want to show that I this is a way that I want to show that I this is a way that I want to show that I love you by loving on him. Um you know, love you by loving on him. Um you know, love you by loving on him. Um you know, maybe when it's time to make everyone maybe when it's time to make everyone maybe when it's time to make everyone breakfast, again, I'm not always like breakfast, again, I'm not always like breakfast, again, I'm not always like in the best mood in the whole world, but in the best mood in the whole world, but in the best mood in the whole world, but everybody needs to eat, everybody's got everybody needs to eat, everybody's got everybody needs to eat, everybody's got to find their folders, they've got to to find their folders, they've got to to find their folders, they've got to get out the door, but I my heart get out the door, but I my heart get out the door, but I my heart posture, I want that to be, Lord, posture, I want that to be, Lord, posture, I want that to be, Lord, thank you. You've given me this work to thank you. You've given me this work to thank you. You've given me this work to do. This is a way I can do it unto you do. This is a way I can do it unto you do. This is a way I can do it unto you for my family. Thank you for this food. for my family. Thank you for this food. for my family. Thank you for this food. Um throughout the day, I do a lot of Um throughout the day, I do a lot of Um throughout the day, I do a lot of stuff around the house. I am stuff around the house. I am stuff around the house. I am doing ministry things, I'm doing home doing ministry things, I'm doing home doing ministry things, I'm doing home things, I'm doing email. Some things I things, I'm doing email. Some things I things, I'm doing email. Some things I delight in and I think they're very fun. delight in and I think they're very fun. delight in and I think they're very fun. Some things are very mundane and I could Some things are very mundane and I could Some things are very mundane and I could do without them, but I think ideally, do without them, but I think ideally, do without them, but I think ideally, again, even when I am doing something again, even when I am doing something again, even when I am doing something like um dishes or I'm running errands or like um dishes or I'm running errands or like um dishes or I'm running errands or I'm packaging up a return, I'm packaging up a return, I'm packaging up a return, it's I want that posture of my heart to it's I want that posture of my heart to it's I want that posture of my heart to be one of thinking of the Lord, thinking be one of thinking of the Lord, thinking be one of thinking of the Lord, thinking of what he has given me, what he's of what he has given me, what he's of what he has given me, what he's assigned me to do. And sometimes it's assigned me to do. And sometimes it's assigned me to do. And sometimes it's helpful if at the beginning of the day helpful if at the beginning of the day helpful if at the beginning of the day even I've looked at my schedule and even I've looked at my schedule and even I've looked at my schedule and thought, "Okay, here's the stuff that thought, "Okay, here's the stuff that thought, "Okay, here's the stuff that you've given me on my plate today. How you've given me on my plate today. How you've given me on my plate today. How can I do this in a way that shows my

You you know, what's what's the goal of, You you know, what's what's the goal of, You you know, what's what's the goal of, you know, thinking about our words and you know, thinking about our words and you know, thinking about our words and our works and our why? Like, what is the our works and our why? Like, what is the our works and our why? Like, what is the What is the ultimate goal of that? Is it What is the ultimate goal of that? Is it What is the ultimate goal of that? Is it to change how we feel? Or what what do to change how we feel? Or what what do to change how we feel? Or what what do you think? How would you even describe you think? How would you even describe you think? How would you even describe what the goal is?

Well, because God is infinitely worthy, the goal is just that infinitely worthy, the goal is just that infinitely worthy, the goal is just that we would respond to him in the way that we would respond to him in the way that we would respond to him in the way that we ought, right? We are commanded to be we ought, right? We are commanded to be we ought, right? We are commanded to be fully devoted to him, to give our whole fully devoted to him, to give our whole fully devoted to him, to give our whole lives as a living sacrifice, to obey his lives as a living sacrifice, to obey his lives as a living sacrifice, to obey his commands, to do good works. And so, I think that there is a very real like, if think that there is a very real like, if think that there is a very real like, if we see God for who he is, like, we're we see God for who he is, like, we're we see God for who he is, like, we're not going to be able to help ourselves not going to be able to help ourselves not going to be able to help ourselves but worship. Um but in addition to that, but worship. Um but in addition to that, but worship. Um but in addition to that, I I do think there are incredible I I do think there are incredible I I do think there are incredible blessings and benefits for us that are blessings and benefits for us that are blessings and benefits for us that are real. real. real. And that we don't worship simply because And that we don't worship simply because And that we don't worship simply because of those things, but I do think it's of those things, but I do think it's of those things, but I do think it's okay to acknowledge that those things okay to acknowledge that those things okay to acknowledge that those things are real. I mean, again, our hearts are real. I mean, again, our hearts are real. I mean, again, our hearts were created to be fully satisfied in were created to be fully satisfied in were created to be fully satisfied in who God is. And so, of course, when we who God is. And so, of course, when we put on a song or maybe we read a put on a song or maybe we read a put on a song or maybe we read a scripture and we focus our minds and our scripture and we focus our minds and our scripture and we focus our minds and our hearts on that or we think more hearts on that or we think more hearts on that or we think more intentionally about the grace that he's intentionally about the grace that he's intentionally about the grace that he's given us in Christ or the peace that we given us in Christ or the peace that we given us in Christ or the peace that we can have, can have, can have, I do think like, we are embodied I do think like, we are embodied I do think like, we are embodied creatures. That helps us and it can help creatures. That helps us and it can help creatures. That helps us and it can help us us us um calm down. But, um calm down. But, um calm down. But, I don't know. I I think that I try I don't know. I I think that I try I don't know. I I think that I try not to pursue worship as like not to pursue worship as like not to pursue worship as like a means to an end of a certain feeling, a means to an end of a certain feeling, a means to an end of a certain feeling, but again to notice that these are but again to notice that these are but again to notice that these are investments in my walk with God as well.

Like, um Like, um Like, um you know, right thinking begets right you know, right thinking begets right you know, right thinking begets right actions and oftentimes like our feelings actions and oftentimes like our feelings actions and oftentimes like our feelings follow. And so, of course, like, feelings are ideal in worship, but we feelings are ideal in worship, but we feelings are ideal in worship, but we live in life after the fall. We don't live in life after the fall. We don't live in life after the fall. We don't always have those feelings. Sometimes always have those feelings. Sometimes always have those feelings. Sometimes we're busy, sometimes we're uh we're busy, sometimes we're uh we're busy, sometimes we're uh distracted by different things. And so, distracted by different things. I I think a lot about like with worship or think a lot about like with worship or think a lot about like with worship or just investments in our walk with God of just investments in our walk with God of just investments in our walk with God of like marriage a little bit in the sense like marriage a little bit in the sense like marriage a little bit in the sense of not every day in marriage do you wake of not every day in marriage do you wake of not every day in marriage do you wake up and you're like, I have all the warm up and you're like, I have all the warm up and you're like, I have all the warm fuzzies and you know, I'm going to like fuzzies and you know, I'm going to like fuzzies and you know, I'm going to like put these little drops in the bucket of put these little drops in the bucket of put these little drops in the bucket of our relationship just so I can like, you our relationship just so I can like, you our relationship just so I can like, you know, spring all those warm fuzzies up know, spring all those warm fuzzies up know, spring all those warm fuzzies up again and so that they'll love me in again and so that they'll love me in again and so that they'll love me in return. Like you do it because you've return. Like you do it because you've return. Like you do it because you've made a commitment, you have a covenant made a commitment, you have a covenant made a commitment, you have a covenant with them and you have this bigger with them and you have this bigger with them and you have this bigger picture in mind of what you're investing picture in mind of what you're investing picture in mind of what you're investing in and you're like, this is a lifelong in and you're like, this is a lifelong in and you're like, this is a lifelong thing. I mean even just giving a a church on Sunday example like it's hard church on Sunday example like it's hard church on Sunday example like it's hard when I've gotten five kids ready to go when I've gotten five kids ready to go when I've gotten five kids ready to go and we've had arguments and you know, and we've had arguments and you know, and we've had arguments and you know, someone's hair didn't get combed and someone's hair didn't get combed and someone's hair didn't get combed and whatever like it is hard to then step whatever like it is hard to then step whatever like it is hard to then step out of the car and like get into church out of the car and like get into church out of the car and like get into church and be like and be like and be like Oh, Oh, Oh, you know, like I'm going to sing and you know, like I'm going to sing and you know, like I'm going to sing and like I'm going to pray. Like it's just like I'm going to pray. Like it's just like I'm going to pray. Like it's just kind of feels like whiplash. And that's kind of feels like whiplash. And that's kind of feels like whiplash. And that's true if in our days and our lives we are true if in our days and our lives we are true if in our days and our lives we are just boom boom boom boom boom, totally

just boom boom boom boom boom, totally just boom boom boom boom boom, totally focused on the cares of the world, like focused on the cares of the world, like focused on the cares of the world, like it's hard to move from that into it's hard to move from that into it's hard to move from that into spiritual things. I think that um certainly seasons of grief, seasons um certainly seasons of grief, seasons um certainly seasons of grief, seasons of doubt, seasons of loss, like it may of doubt, seasons of loss, like it may of doubt, seasons of loss, like it may be, oh, I need to maybe worship God be, oh, I need to maybe worship God be, oh, I need to maybe worship God through lament, or I need to worship God through lament, or I need to worship God through lament, or I need to worship God um um um in ways that sound different than when I in ways that sound different than when I in ways that sound different than when I am in seasons where things are a little am in seasons where things are a little am in seasons where things are a little bit more fruitful or more joyful. bit more fruitful or more joyful. bit more fruitful or more joyful. I know for me, I personally find it I know for me, I personally find it I know for me, I personally find it hardest to have feelings of worship hardest to have feelings of worship hardest to have feelings of worship towards God when things are going well towards God when things are going well towards God when things are going well in my life, actually. in my life, actually. in my life, actually. Because I have a harder time seeing my Because I have a harder time seeing my Because I have a harder time seeing my need and being humbled beforehand. And need and being humbled beforehand. And so often times, if I've noticed I'm kind so often times, if I've noticed I'm kind so often times, if I've noticed I'm kind of in this weird dry thing, it's like, of in this weird dry thing, it's like, of in this weird dry thing, it's like, oh, I am putting oh, I am putting oh, I am putting too much confidence, I am assuming God's too much confidence, I am assuming God's too much confidence, I am assuming God's provision, I am assuming provision, I am assuming provision, I am assuming these blessings, you know, and I'm not these blessings, you know, and I'm not these blessings, you know, and I'm not I'm not actually seeing my need for him.

Like, not often do we want to go on the run or not often do we want to go on the run or not often do we want to go on the run or do the exercise. It's like, you know, do the exercise. It's like, you know, do the exercise. It's like, you know, there is a little bit of that there is a little bit of that there is a little bit of that resistance. Sometimes you're in a good resistance. Sometimes you're in a good resistance. Sometimes you're in a good mood and you want to do it, sometimes mood and you want to do it, sometimes mood and you want to do it, sometimes you don't. But but for most people, the you don't. But but for most people, the you don't. But but for most people, the goal is, well, goal is, well, goal is, well, I want to be able to have this energy so I want to be able to have this energy so I want to be able to have this energy so I keep up with my kids or my grandkids, I keep up with my kids or my grandkids, I keep up with my kids or my grandkids, or I want to be able to, you know, you or I want to be able to, you know, you or I want to be able to, you know, you have some other goal in mind, and so you have some other goal in mind, and so you have some other goal in mind, and so you do it for the greater good. And then afterwards, like 99% of the time, once afterwards, like 99% of the time, once afterwards, like 99% of the time, once you got through it, you're glad that you you got through it, you're glad that you you got through it, you're glad that you did it. And I think that's so true of worship, whether it's worship, whether it's worship, whether it's it's prayer or or doing the act of it's prayer or or doing the act of it's prayer or or doing the act of obedience that we were kind of, you obedience that we were kind of, you obedience that we were kind of, you know, begrudging, or it is singing a know, begrudging, or it is singing a know, begrudging, or it is singing a hymn, or it is doing our Bible reading, hymn, or it is doing our Bible reading, hymn, or it is doing our Bible reading, like like like how often if you were filled with the how often if you were filled with the how often if you were filled with the spirit, do you end that time like, man, spirit, do you end that time like, man, spirit, do you end that time like, man, that was a real waste of time?

That we don't just want to be hearers of the word, we want want to be hearers of the word, we want want to be hearers of the word, we want to be doers of the word. We're called to to be doers of the word. We're called to to be doers of the word. We're called to good works. Our works adorn the gospel.

If we as Christians were like, "Oh, we love we as Christians were like, "Oh, we love we as Christians were like, "Oh, we love Jesus." And yet like we never really did Jesus." And yet like we never really did anything that was costly or that served anything that was costly or that served anything that was costly or that served him or we didn't submit our time and our him or we didn't submit our time and our him or we didn't submit our time and our resources and our money to him. And then also I I I don't know that this is as also I I I don't know that this is as also I I I don't know that this is as common as some of the circles that I'm common as some of the circles that I'm common as some of the circles that I'm in, but maybe in different parts of the in, but maybe in different parts of the in, but maybe in different parts of the world people are using literal objects world people are using literal objects world people are using literal objects or literal pictures as a means to spark or literal pictures as a means to spark or literal pictures as a means to spark worship to God. And they're they're like literally saying, "Hey, I've got this literally saying, "Hey, I've got this literally saying, "Hey, I've got this water and it's holy or I have this water and it's holy or I have this water and it's holy or I have this something." You know, they're they're getting bitten by these they're they're getting bitten by these they're they're getting bitten by these snakes cuz they did something, you know, snakes cuz they did something, you know, snakes cuz they did something, you know, they're always doing something, aren't they're always doing something, aren't they're always doing something, aren't we all? And God said, "Put you know, put we all? And God said, "Put you know, put we all? And God said, "Put you know, put the snake up on a pole." Well, later in

Um it's easy to raise your hands forth. Um it's easy to raise your hands forth. Um it's easy to raise your hands and act like you're worshipping God, but and act like you're worshipping God, but and act like you're worshipping God, but you know, if we're actually serving our you know, if we're actually serving our you know, if we're actually serving our idols and living for money or living for idols and living for money or living for idols and living for money or living for comfort or you know, there are so many comfort or you know, there are so many comfort or you know, there are so many idols that we're chasing and I think um idols that we're chasing and I think um idols that we're chasing and I think um the Lord knows our heart. So, are we the Lord knows our heart. So, are we the Lord knows our heart. So, are we really worshipping him or we worshipping really worshipping him or we worshipping really worshipping him or we worshipping what he might give us? That's That's what he might give us?
